Chapter 305 Plundering Everything
by 七重地狱九重殿Under Shaoke's sudden ferocious assault, practitioners below the Seventh Rank were unable to withstand his unique single-target Spell attacks, resulting in heavy casualties, which significantly accelerated the advance of Shaoke's team.
A magical signal representing the Mage Guild burst in the air, and the few hostile practitioners facing Shaoke's group quickly pulled back when they saw it. Of course, under Shaoke's orders, everyone carried out this easy pursuit, just unleashing spells freely without worrying about excessive retaliation.
After about half a magic hour of chasing and fleeing, the Mage Guild's team halted, having reached their destination. At that moment, others gradually caught up, and the Eighth-order Practitioners who were floating in the air stopped Shaoke's group from attacking. Since everything was now over, the Eighth-order Practitioners of the Mage Guild had been completely defeated in the previous battle, leaving no need for further resistance.
As time passed, more and more forces from various factions gathered before the Mage Guild's massive estate. Seizing this opportunity, Shaoke quickly assessed the mage team following him.
This assessment left him feeling terrible. Of the hundreds of mages above the Fifth Tier, only a little over a hundred remained, and more importantly, all of them had sustained injuries of varying severity. The White-robed Female Cleric began treating those mages whose Meditation spaces had been damaged due to excessive or improper Spellcasting.
The excessive exertion forced the female Cleric to take a short break after each mage she treated before continuing. Seeing this, Shaoke gritted his teeth and told the White-robed Female Cleric to keep going, while he turned his attention to the beings in the sky.
Dozens of Eighth-order Practitioners floated in the air, maintaining some distance from each other. Regardless of their formation, seven or eight practitioners hovered at the center, and judging by their insignias, Shaoke quickly identified them as belonging to the Mage Guild.
"Everyone, I have done as you requested," one of the surrounded Eighth-order Practitioners of the Mage Guild shouted loudly to the surrounding practitioners, glancing at the sparse team below. He hadn't expected this fight to almost destroy the Mage Guild's presence here.
After speaking, the Eighth-order Practitioner looked at the remaining team below and ordered them to leave immediately. As for the items within the estate, they had no right to take them, as they were the losers, and losing their lives was already the best outcome of the negotiations.
Under the supervision of the various factions, the seven or eight Eighth-order Practitioners of the Mage Guild began slowly moving toward the outskirts of the Fallen Capital, followed by the lower-level practitioners quickly leaving the area. Staying alone here would only mean the beginning of death.
After a brief discussion in the air, the dozens of Eighth-order Practitioners returned to their respective national teams, leading them back to their own territories. As for the estate and its valuable treasures, the Eighth-order Practitioners would go through everything themselves and divide the spoils according to previous agreements, just as they had done with the Mage Guild's controlled areas. No one would oppose this decision, at least for now.
After a detailed tally of losses among Shaoke's and other factions' teams, the Eighth-order Practitioners quickly formulated compensation plans. The allocation of controlled areas was also completed during this time, with even the three or four organizations maintaining order receiving some additional territory, as they had contributed to the effort, and no one would deny their merits.
Shaoke first sent the mages who had participated in the battle back, and the White-robed Female Cleric followed, as she needed to tend to the wounded and those requiring rest.
The bargaining went on until dawn, with the leaders of various factions arguing fiercely to gain more territory. Shaoke, however, squinted a little, refraining from joining their discussions, instead silently memorizing the details of the battle he had just fought.
"Enough, this is the decision," an Elder Mage suddenly stood up, slamming his worn black staff heavily onto the table, leaving a crack in it. "I don't want to hear any more arguments. Also, let me remind everyone, do not leave the Fallen Capital for now. The situation is dire." With that, the Elder Mage vanished from his original position, and only after some time did Shaoke sense the faint magical fluctuations where he had been.
One by one, the Eighth-order Practitioners left the scene. Just as the Blue-robed Female Mage was getting ready to leave, Shaoke said, "Honorable Mage, could I ask you something about spells now?" He then stood still, awaiting her response.
"As you wish," the Blue-robed Female Mage agreed after a brief thought, gesturing for Shaoke to accompany her on foot as they left and boarded a carriage to find a place for discussion. Shaoke first proposed his mage tower as a venue, and she readily accepted.
Since this area was originally controlled by the Blue Feather Empire, there had been no large-scale destruction by enemies, and for some unknown reason, all the various teams roaming the city today had disappeared. Shaoke had just noticed this.
His confusion was soon resolved by the Eighth-order Female Mage's kind reminder. It turned out that the outsiders had discovered some clues and left to gather at a location outside the city, where they would either gain vast treasures or lose their lives permanently. The Blue-robed Female Mage also advised Shaoke not to leave the area for the time being.
Grateful for the high-order practitioner's goodwill, Shaoke sincerely thanked her and began asking about the Command Technique. However, the Blue-robed Female Mage frowned and declined, as she was unfamiliar with this technique.
"Have you fully deciphered that book?" the Blue-robed Female Mage asked Shaoke with some suspicion, as his questions were already quite profound, prompting the female mage's suspicion.
"Honorable Mage, I have not completed that task," Shaoke replied with a slight bow, explaining his progress. "I find the book extremely difficult to understand, and when I chant using the Ancient Magic Language, I feel something is missing." He then pulled the book from his ring and held it out to the Blue-robed Female Mage for inspection, but she flat-out refused.
"I do not practice this technique," the Female Mage said, gesturing for Shaoke to put the book away. "The Command Technique was once a common casting method for certain practitioners long ago. If you reach the Eighth Order, you may have the opportunity to read books and recreate fragments of the writer's or that era's experiences, which would make casting easier for you." She went on to say, "It is said that the Command Technique only unleashes its full power when using Primordial Magic Script. Of course, Ancient Magic Script can also work, but the effect is not as good."
The Eighth-order Female Mage's explanation left Shaoke feeling disappointed. He had thought that being able to recreate past scenes through text was unique to him, but it turned out to be a common occurrence upon reaching the Eighth Order. He now understood why, in the images from the book, he occasionally saw the Spellcaster chanting in an extremely strange language. He suspected it was either Ancient Magic Script or Primordial Magic Script.
"Honorable Mage, can I learn those magic scripts?" Shaoke asked, sensing the carriage nearing his estate.
"If you become an Eighth-order Mage, you might have the chance to obtain some records of Ancient Magic Script. At that point, you could try to see if you are suited to utter those words," the Blue-robed Female Mage said, touching the gem on her staff before adding, "As for Primordial Magic Script, as far as I know, the Blue Feather Empire has no such texts. However, if you obtain Primordial Magic Script, you could also practice it after reaching the Eighth Order."
"I recall that some time ago, a young mage brought a book containing Ancient Magic Script here," Shaoke hesitated before cautiously asking the Female Mage about this matter. She, however, rubbed her temples and smoothed her hair, ignoring his question and remaining silent.
Only when she sensed the unique fluctuations of the mage tower did the female mage quietly told Shaoke she didn't care about such things, nor would others, as there were more important issues for the high-ranking beings to handle. Finally, she warned Shaoke not to test her again, because she hated being tested.
Hearing the Eighth-order Female Mage's reply, Shaoke quickly made a decision, though it was not yet time to act. He first had to properly host the female mage before he could attend to other matters.
