Chapter 334 Let’s Hide for Now
by 七重地狱九重殿"You're insane." The eighth-tier warrior casually took a small jar with some pattern on it and drank it. "If you do this, there will be no place in the Blue Feather Empire that will allow you to stay." After saying that, the eighth-tier warrior suddenly changed the subject.
"Are you interested in exploring that ancient ruin we once explored? There are still many valuable items there that haven't been taken by others." Speaking of this, the eighth-tier warrior saw Shaoke's hesitation. "You can think it over carefully. There will be another person joining this time."
"Is it that eighth-tier mage?" Shaoke asked, puzzled.
"Can you tell me why you chose me to join this mission? I don't think I have anything that can help you there." Shaoke then fell into silent thought. He felt very gloomy now because the battle just now had many people probing here in various ways. Now he was worried that those people would unite to completely destroy him and his organization. What worried him even more was whether Mage Roman and the others would get hurt in this situation.
"Yes." The eighth-tier warrior nodded casually. "We once detected the aura of the Fallen Horn on you, and the Fallen Horn is the most important tool to open that ruin." After saying that, the eighth-tier warrior stared intently at Shaoke, now wanting to know where he had stored that Fallen Horn, because for a long time he had not detected its aura.
"That horn is gone." After thinking for a while, Shaoke finally answered the eighth-tier warrior.
Hearing Shaoke's words, the eighth-tier warrior smiled. "If it's gone, it's gone. I think if one day you agree to explore that ruin, we will still cooperate." Then the eighth-tier warrior got up and left the mage tower. But before leaving, he advised Shaoke to make contact with the Death Mage Corps, because with his single power, he would not be able to withstand the subsequent revenge from the Orpheus Family. Of course, this was just a suggestion.
After the eighth-tier warrior left, Shaoke thought for a moment and then contacted them through the crystal ball he had obtained from the Death Mage Corps back then.
Through the image transmitted by the crystal ball, the Death Mage who talked with Shaoke was an eighth-tier existence. After hearing Shaoke's account, he thought for a moment and said, "Mage Xueye, in my opinion, you only need to keep three mage towers. As for the others, you can abandon them completely because you can't control so many, and besides, that thing is now worthless." Then the eighth-tier mage cut off the communication crystal, and no matter how many messages Shaoke sent, he no longer responded.
Under these circumstances, Shaoke sat alone in the room, then as if remembering something, he quickly put on his cloak and headed alone to the Death Mage Corps' station.
"What's the matter?" A seventh-tier Death Mage received Shaoke. He was very busy now and didn't have much time to talk with Shaoke. Knowing this, Shaoke quickly explained his purpose, hoping that the seventh-tier mage could help him.
Dozens of magic bags filled with a large amount of magic materials were piled in front of the Death Mage. After checking the materials, the mage gestured for Shaoke to wait here while he went to exchange some potions for him. Of course, now these magic materials could only be exchanged for some potions because Shaoke was no longer a member of the Death Mage Corps.
Three magic bags of potions were placed before Shaoke. The seventh-tier mage glanced at him, knowing that he had once been a Death Mage and, after leaving the Mage Corps, had cooperated with them for a long time, though most of that cooperation had mysteriously ended some time ago.
After roughly examining the potions, Shaoke hurriedly left and returned to his mage tower, where Mage Roman and the others were already waiting for his return.
"You should return to the imperial capital." After a moment of silence, Shaoke broke it first. "This place is no longer suitable for you to stay. I think you will receive enough protection from the Blizzard Legion." After saying that, Shaoke fell silent again, turning his head to stare blankly at the interior of the mage tower.
"But just a few days ago, you promised to return with us." Lan Wei'er looked much more mature after today's battle. "Why don't you come back with us?" She wanted to continue, but Mage Roman stopped her inquiry and nodded to Shaoke, indicating she understood. The Cleric, however, sat quietly, staring at Shaoke in a daze.
"I am about to advance to the eighth-tier mage. When the time comes, I will come to the imperial capital to find you." Shaoke affectionately rubbed Lan Wei'er's head and then signaled the spellcasters to pack some belongings, planning to leave here tomorrow. As for the mages still staying in these towers, Shaoke disbanded them, allowing them to join the Death Mage Corps or other organizations. His own organization was now truly dissolved, but Shaoke felt no regret.
After finishing these trivial matters, Shaoke made some modifications in the mage tower. He carefully stored the precious elemental stones into wooden boxes and placed them in magic bags. Then, on the arrays above the elemental pools, he made slight adjustments, which he had predetermined when building the towers. Thus, it took no effort—he only needed to move a few loose stones.
Thirteen mage towers were quickly modified by Shaoke. Then, through the crystal ball, he informed the Death Mage Corps of his departure with Mage Roman and the others. Afterwards, using his scepter, he told the Blue-robed Female Mage about his decision.
"Your choice might be the right one." After hearing Shaoke's explanation, the Blue-robed Female Mage sighed softly. "Come to my place. I can send you away quickly through a teleportation array." Then she told Shaoke her residence. When asked why she was helping him, she did not answer, and Shaoke did not want to pursue it.
Following Mage Roman to the imperial capital were over thirty sixth-tier mages and a few seventh-tier mages. They were originally mages dispatched here by the Blizzard Legion. Although many of them had not yet advanced to the seventh tier, they had to leave under these circumstances. However, their mission had long been completed, so they did not have to worry about punishment from the Blizzard Legion upon their return.
The Blue-robed Female Mage lived in a small manor with only seven or eight young servants. When she saw Shaoke and the others, she did not say much, directly leading them to a basement. The basement was dozens of meters underground; the special black soil had been excavated by her using special methods.
A small twelve-pointed star array was embedded in the black stone slab. The Blue-robed Female Mage then asked Mage Roman and the others to step onto it and began chanting the spell to teleport them. The destination was the headquarters of the Blizzard Legion in the imperial capital. Shaoke watched quietly as the three female spellcasters stood there. At this moment, he was reluctant to let them leave. But knowing the dangers they might face if they stayed, he calmly saw them off. Of course, parting words could not be avoided—there was still that connection.
"Maybe you should have left with them." After teleporting Mage Roman and the others away, the eighth-tier female mage turned to Shaoke. "You're about to advance?" The Blue-robed Female Mage seemed to have noticed something strange and stared at Shaoke intently.
"Yes, if everything goes smoothly, I will have the chance to advance in a few years." Shaoke frowned slightly, not liking that others knew everything about him. The eighth-tier mage seemed to be thinking of something else and did not notice his reaction.
"Stay here with me. After you advance to the eighth tier, we will explore that ancient ruin together." The eighth-tier Blue-robed Female Mage gestured for Shaoke to follow her upstairs. After considering some factors, Shaoke agreed to her suggestion. He felt that here, the Orpheus Family would not cause him trouble, as the eighth-tier female mage had promised.
Back in the living room on the ground floor, Shaoke detailed the recent events to her, finally mentioning the modifications he had made in the mage towers. Then he nervously watched her face, hoping to read something from her expression.
"It's fine. The Death Mage Corps won't interfere with such things, and the Orpheus Family's influence here is too weak to do anything to you." The Blue-robed Female Mage waved her right hand dismissively. She no longer needed a staff now, as losing her left hand had made her averse to using one. However, she still had plenty of auxiliary magic items, so the lack of a staff did not affect her performance.
"I think it's best if you don't leave this manor before advancing to the eighth tier. By this time tomorrow, they will absolutely be frantically searching for you in this city." Speaking of this, the Blue-robed Female Mage seemed to remember something and suddenly burst out laughing.
