Chapter 335 The Fall of an Eighth Tier
by 七重地狱九重殿As the Eighth-Tier Blue-Robed Mage said, the next night, the Fallen Imperial Capital and the Alliance frantically sent out a ton of professionals to search for Shaoke in the city. Soon, they got word and showed up at the Blue-Robed Mage's mansion, demanding the owner hand over Shaoke.
Turns out, that night, the thirteen mage towers at the old Fallen Academy suddenly blew up. This explosion caused massive casualties among some organizations and alliances. They'd visited the mage towers at the Fallen Academy that morning, easily taking over the unmanned towers, and held a banquet that night. But before the banquet had been going on long, the thirteen mage towers blew up all at once. Almost everyone at the banquet got killed.
At the site of the old Fallen Academy, a huge pit appeared, all because Shaoke messed with things before leaving the mage tower. Not wanting to be played for fools, the various organizations and alliances, after taking losses, hunted down Shaoke and planned to get back at him.
"Hand over Xueye's head, or we'll level this mansion," said the Orpheus Family, which this time sent two Eighth-Tier mages to the Blue-Robed Mage's mansion. Other organizations also sent a ton of Seventh-Rank pros and one or two Eighth-order beings to surround the place.
The Eighth-Tier Blue-Robed Female Mage, already ready, floated quietly in the air. Watching these people surround her mansion without any panic, she said in a mocking tone, "Who do you think I am? Coming here to look for Mage Xueye? You think you've got what it takes?"
The Eighth-Tier Blue-Robed Female Mage's words ticked off some folks in these groups, but without orders from the Eighth-Tier pros or leaders, the regular pros didn't dare start a fight.
"He killed a bunch of our people—we deserve an explanation," said a mage from the Orpheus Family, not happy with the Blue-Robed Mage's words, but he still didn't strike first, since he knew the Blue-Robed Mage was the apparent Eighth-Tier boss of the Fallen Imperial Capital, tasked by the Blue Feather Empire's military to keep things safe here.
"Don't talk to me about that," the Blue-Robed Female Mage said coolly, tugging at her cloak. "I don't like people making demands or telling me what to do. I'm just saying, Mage Xueye is here. Anyone who wants him dead can come in—but I can't promise you'll make it out alive." With that, the Blue-Robed Female Mage let out a low laugh.
"You idiots! Do you really think this is the Imperial Capital? Drop that attitude you brought from wherever, or I'll make you eat some serious humiliation here." Saying this, the Blue-Robed Female Mage went back to her room, but before doing so, she warned them she didn't like anyone floating above her mansion. If they hung around too long and something happened, she couldn't be held responsible. Of course, according to her, this was just a friendly heads-up.
Just as the Blue-Robed Mage landed, Shaoke saw the ground in the courtyard suddenly burst open. A pale golden figure shot into the sky, swinging a weapon. A mass of golden light slammed into the front of an Eighth-Tier mage from the Orpheus Family.
This sudden attack caught four or five Eighth-order beings off guard. The Eighth-Tier mage instantly popped a Defensive Spell and tried to Blink away. But just then, the golden light exploded, covering a range of hundreds of meters in the air. A huge flail then smashed into the mage's body, ripping through two layers of Eighth-Tier defensive spells like tissue paper. The mage's Blink failed, and the flail crushed him, turning his body into a blur of flesh and blood scattered on the ground, leaving only a pale golden light floating quietly in the air.
"I already warned them," the Blue-Robed Mage said, seeing Shaoke staring blankly at the sky, unable to help but laugh. "What? Does the fall of an Eighth-Tier mage look that easy to you?"
"That golden light played a big role," Shaoke noted. After the Eighth-Tier mage died, an extremely strange wave came from the pale golden light in the air. He'd never felt such a wave before, not even during the war when the Sleazy Officer died. But this time, he felt it so clearly.
The Blue-Robed Mage nodded slightly. That mage could've escaped using Blink, but under the golden light from the flail, his Blink got interrupted. A mage who loses Blink in close combat can't handle a sudden attack from a warrior of the same tier. That mage lacked combat experience and got taken out easily by the warrior.
The fall of an Eighth-Tier mage shocked everyone surrounding the mansion. They hadn't expected the other side to kill so fast without any hesitation. In their experience, such stuff in the Imperial Capital or other places would involve some talking before tentative fights. But what happened here totally flipped their understanding.
After killing an Eighth-Tier mage, the Eighth-Tier Warrior kept attacking, this time going after other Eighth-order beings floating in the air. Golden light wrapped his whole body, and masses of pale golden light flew from the flail. These golden lights exploded in the air, with countless beams doing complex jumps.
Below, Shaoke felt his Meditation space start to tremble the moment the golden light appeared. Luckily, with the help of the silver light, he could still calm this disturbance without relying on meditation.
"Go back to your room. Today, I'm wiping out everyone who came here," the Eighth-Tier Female Mage said, waving for Shaoke to head back. She then flew up again to join the aerial fight. Pale blue magical characters flew from her spellbook, and the little crown on the Blue-Robed Female Mage's head kept blasting out blue light. Under these blue lights, the magical characters linked up perfectly, forming a giant net that slowly dropped toward the lower-tier pros. It quickly wrapped them up along with the surrounding streets and some buildings.
Although the Low-order beings kept casting spells and using Aura to hit the giant net, the little crown on the Blue-Robed Female Mage's head kept blasting out tons of blue light. Each blue light held loads of magic scripts, which quickly merged into the giant net, making it shrink fast. By then, the Blue-Robed Female Mage had stopped controlling the net, instead releasing small blue orbs to help the warrior and the other four Eighth-order beings in the fight.
Shaoke watched as the giant net shrank fast, trapping hundreds of Seventh-Rank pros. Despite their various defenses, the net easily cut them into chunks of flesh of different sizes. This ruthless cutting even took out some buildings.
The aerial fight was short. Although four Eighth-order beings surrounded the warrior, he went wild with his flail. Especially two Eighth-Tier mages, who didn't dare get too close to the warrior, since under the golden light's effect, they couldn't use Blink to dodge attacks. So they kept flying around, releasing powerful spells to hit the warrior. But these spells did nothing, as the Blue-Robed Mage's blue orbs blocked each spell attack, turning into small nets that broke up the Spell Structure on contact.
Shaoke didn't listen to the Blue-Robed Mage's advice and stayed in the courtyard watching the Eighth-order beings fight. Suddenly, a mage, dodging the Flail Warrior's attack, flew quickly above Shaoke. At that moment, Shaoke, who'd been holding back for a long time, launched his attack.
He instantly let loose the Seventh-Tier Death Gaze. Two pale gray beams shot from his eyes, quickly hitting the mage. At that moment, Shaoke completely lost track of his surroundings, his eyes locked only on the Eighth-Tier mage frozen in fear. Losing his magical power, the Eighth-order being started falling toward Shaoke. Although he kept releasing mana and mental energy to fight the weird restraints, these tries were useless.
The mage's buddies didn't come to save him, not just because of distance but also because Shaoke's spell attack had already gone off. Under the boost of the Command Technique, the Seventh-Tier Rending Ray easily punched through the mage's two layers of defensive spells, leaving a fist-sized hole in his chest. By then, the Eighth-Tier mage crashed hard to the ground, completely dead. A pale golden light floated from his body, hovering quietly in the air, giving off strange waves.
