Chapter Eighty: The Day of the Meeting
byChapter Eighty: The Day of the Meeting
Within the room, all was peaceful as before.
Suddenly, the window was pushed open, and Yang Xiaoyun’s eyes snapped open. She saw Su Mo leap in, and with a wave of his hand, the window behind him closed naturally.
"How is it?"
Yang Xiaoyun stood up.
Su Mo nodded slightly, indicating that everything was fine, then asked, "Where is Miss Lou?"
"Still sleeping."
Yang Xiaoyun pointed to the bed.
Lou Jingjing had been living in fear recently, and now that she finally had some time to rest, she naturally needed to catch up on her sleep.
"It's good that she can get some rest. When she wakes up, there's something I need her help with."
As he spoke, he lit a candle, no longer worried about anyone spying on them.
In truth, during their journey here, Su Mo had noticed that although the people in Profound Theory Valley were particularly attentive to those attending the meeting, they focused mainly on the renowned martial artists.
The Purple Sword Gate, which they had fabricated, was currently insignificant.
There were writing tools in the room, and Su Mo took them out while Yang Xiaoyun ground ink for him.
Su Mo glanced at her, smiled, and without saying more, picked up the brush and began to write.
As a modern person, Su Mo did not know how to write calligraphy. He had practiced for a couple of days when he was young, but he had long forgotten it by the time he graduated.
However, the original body belonged to this era, and even though Su Mo himself did not know how to write, the muscle memory allowed him to produce passable handwriting after a brief familiarization.
Su Mo had been in this world for over two years and certainly wasn’t at the point where he couldn’t write at all.
Initially, Yang Xiaoyun didn’t think much of it, but as he wrote a few words, her expression changed.
In just a moment, the letter was finished.
Yang Xiaoyun drew a sharp breath. "Is there any proof?"
"If there weren’t, this letter wouldn’t have been written."
"How could it be like this?"
Yang Xiaoyun frowned, her words filled with disbelief.
"Why are you so surprised, Xiaoyun? Didn't we discuss this matter before? It is the treacheries of the human heart that make the perils of the jiānghú..."
As he spoke, he sealed the envelope and set it aside.
Then he picked up his pen to write another letter.
After Yang Xiaoyun read it, she pondered, "Is this move... a bit risky?"
"It's precisely the right moment."
Su Mo stretched lazily and glanced at the bedside. "Has Miss Lou woken up?"
Lou Jingjing had indeed woken up, but only got up after hearing Su Mo speak.
"Did you sleep well?"
Su Mo smiled as he looked at Lou Jingjing.
Lou Jingjing blushed and nodded. "Thank you, Chief Su."
"You're welcome."
Su Mo said, "I met your senior brother tonight."
"How is Senior Brother? Is he alright!?"
Lou Jingjing's face lit up with joy, yet there was an unspoken worry in her eyes.
"He's still able to jump around for now and is safe for the time being."
"That's good..."
Lou Jingjing let out a slight sigh of relief.
Su Mo looked at her with a half-smile. "Don't you want to ask why I didn't save him?"
"Chief Su is no ordinary person. If it were possible to save him, you would have done so."
Lou Jingjing continued, "Since he wasn't saved, it must be because the right opportunity hasn't presented itself, or perhaps it's not possible yet."
After she finished speaking, both Su Mo and Yang Xiaoyun couldn't help but sigh.
It wasn't that what Lou Jingjing said was wrong; rather, it was too correct.
The world of martial arts ages one quickly. After experiencing so much, the princess of the Falling Star Gate was no longer as innocent and carefree as before.
Her words carried a subtle hint of flattery and a touch of provocation.
Su Mo shook his head gently. "You're right. We haven't rescued him yet because the timing isn't right."
"When will the right time come?"
Lou Jingjing couldn't help but ask.
Su Mo smiled. "In three days."
"In three days, the assembly in Profound Theory Valley will begin..."
Lou Jingjing pondered slightly, seemingly understanding Su Mo's meaning, and nodded immediately. "Chief Su is right."
Su Mo waved his hand. "However, before that, Miss Lou, I would like to trouble you with something."
"Chief Su, please speak. Whether it's climbing a mountain of knives or descending into a sea of oil, if Lou Jingjing frowns, she's not my father's daughter."
"It's not that serious."
Su Mo picked up the two letters on the table and handed them to Lou Jingjing.
"I've made different marks on the envelopes. This one, two days from now, outside the valley three miles away, follow this mark to find a group of people, led by Zangming Zhenren."
"Zangming Zhenren?"
Lou Jingjing was instantly shocked.
"Don't worry, this Zhenren is not that Zhenren."
After saying this, he asked Lou Jingjing to lean closer and whispered a few instructions in her ear. "Do you understand?"
"I understand."
Lou Jingjing took a deep breath.
Su Mo nodded. "And the other letter... needs to be sent out now. As for who to give it to... once you leave Profound Theory Valley, find a secluded place, take out this token, and the recipient will appear naturally."
He took out a token as he spoke.
The Phoenix Cry Token!
Lou Jingjing was somewhat confused but still carefully noted it down.
She reached out to receive the Phoenix Cry Token and the two letters. "Should I go now?"
"Mm."
Su Mo nodded. "Go ahead. Remember, two days from now, deliver the other letter to Zangming Zhenren. This matter is crucial; whether we can save your senior brother depends on your skills, Miss Lou."
"Alright, then I'll take my leave."
Lou Jingjing sighed deeply and without hesitation, pushed open the window and leaped away.
Su Mo asked Yang Xiaoyun to wait a moment, then followed out. After a short while, Su Mo returned to the room and smiled at Yang Xiaoyun:
"I was worried that Lou Jingjing might not make it out, but now it seems I underestimated her. Her ability to stay hidden in Profound Theory Valley these past few days is no coincidence."
"The Jianghu... ages one quickly."
Yang Xiaoyun shook her head and smiled. "What should we do next? Just wait and see?"
"Not necessarily. I have something else to do tonight."
Su Mo said with a smile. "Since we're putting on a show, we might as well do it thoroughly."
...
...
The next day, everyone in Profound Theory Valley knew about an incident.
Last night, someone had secretly investigated Xuanji Cave.
However, they were discovered by the guards of Xuanji Cave. After a brief fight, the intruder escaped unscathed. The disciples of Profound Theory Valley searched for two full days but found nothing.
The following day marked the meeting in Profound Theory Valley.
Early in the morning, all the martial artists from the southwestern region, led by the disciples of Profound Theory Valley, headed to the Xuanji Cottage.
The open space in front of the cottage had been cleared and arranged with long tables and chairs, where the younger generation was seated.
The elders were arranged inside the Xuanji Cottage.
According to Su Mo and Yang Xiaoyun's status, they should have been sitting outside with the disciples of various sects.
But somehow, a 'disciple of Profound Theory Valley' led them into the Xuanji Cottage.
Lifting their eyes, they saw that all the experts were already seated.
