    Chapter Index

Legend has it that the Great Demon King's destruction of the Primeval Golden Tree enraged the Nature Goddess, leading to the creation of the "Sighing Sacred Bow" and the "Seraph's Arrow," which in turn sparked the great demon-sealing battle that brought light to the continent. For the first time, elves and orcs joined forces, setting up the "Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array of the Final Fantasy," sacrificing tens of thousands of millennium-old elves to finally eradicate the Great Demon King and his Dark Demon Capital from the land. Afterward, to completely seal the hellgate established by Bato, the then-Elf Queen sacrificed her life, guiding the residual power of the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array to cast the "Celestial Gate" spell, sealing the nearby space and ending the war that nearly destroyed the continent.

Thus, the land gained a third name: the Sealed Wilderness—Ruins of the Celestial Gate.

"...After that great battle, the elves lost their Queen, capital, Primeval Golden Tree, King's Three Regalia, all Arrow Gods, and a large number of millennium-old elves. The surviving elves, in their grief, blamed each other, and soon, internal conflicts erupted, leading to a great schism, resulting in the five major elf clans we know today: High Elves, Wood Elves, and others. That's all the human records say about that land. The question now is, where has the High Elves' magical army gone?"

In a camp hundreds of kilometers away from the Ruins of the Celestial Gate, a handsome blond youth gently closed a thick history book and turned to his companions.

Beside him were several equally striking young men and women. Anyone familiar with the continent's famous human experts would recognize them as the young Saint Masters who have recently risen to the pinnacle of human martial prowess: Morova, the Knight of the Flame Phoenix; Tan Yueer, the Celestial Knight; Xian Lan, the Tide Knight; Hades, the Death Knight; Xi Luo, the wielder of the Hero Sword; and Carol, the Lunar Knight, who had just recounted the history. Almost all of humanity's top combatants were gathered here.

Their gathering was not without reason. With the elves joining the war, the human world's conflict had become doubly severe. While the Saint Masters' power was astonishing, it could only turn the tide when the ordinary forces were evenly matched. Otherwise, the "White-Haired Demon Lion King" Leimen would have single-handedly conquered the human world long ago, and there would have been no prolonged wars. Now, with humans facing enemies on two fronts and the Yellow Dragon and Tiele Empires in the east unable to fully assist due to distance and politics, the war in the southern and western continents had gradually slipped beyond the control of the Saint Masters.

Fortunately, for some reason, the fearsome Snow Wolf Lord who had been entrenched in the southwest had recently vanished, along with his "Sacred Spirit Knight" Jin Luosha and the "Ice Valkyrie." After much deliberation, the young Sword Saints decided that things couldn't get worse, so they sent Carol, the Lunar Knight, and Morova, the Knight of the Flame Phoenix, back to the south. The two young Sword Saints, along with a super magical beast-level phantom creature, the Flame Phoenix, couldn't change the course of the war but saved many southern allied troops trapped by elemental soul-armored warriors and even ambushed elf mage units several times, forcing the elves to deploy genuine super magical beasts like the Fire Phoenix and powerful elf archmages to block them. Later, the elves even sent the "Star-Hunting Arrow God" Hekler to lead a team of archmages and two Fire Phoenixes to track them, greatly hindering the elves' advance.

However, when the Elf Queen suddenly appeared at the Ruins of the Celestial Gate with over sixty thousand elf mages, the massive spatial magic fluctuations were immediately detected by the southern mage guild, and the news was quickly relayed to all parties.

"Morova, what do you think?" Carol asked his companion, who had been fighting alongside him in the south.

"Perhaps they're looking for something in those ruins," the red-haired, aloof youth speculated. "After all, that land carries too much of the elves' history."

Xian Lan from the Tiele Empire shook his head. "The elves abandoned that land three thousand years ago. If there was anything there, they would have taken it long ago. If they couldn't find it then, how could they find it now? I think the elves are challenging something."

"Challenging? What do you mean?" Carol pressed.

"With sixty thousand elf mages and the Elf Queen there, doesn't that setup remind you of the battle three thousand years ago?"

Hades, the Death Knight, raised an eyebrow. "You mean the battle against the Great Demon King? Are the elves planning to set up the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array again?"

"Exactly. That was the elves' most tragic and glorious battle. I think the Elf Queen chose to return to the Ruins of the Celestial Gate to relive that glory," Xian Lan affirmed.

"Wait," Xi Luo interjected. "Are you saying the elves plan to set up the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array there? Who are they targeting? The Forbidden Spell Mages? Are you suggesting the elves are challenging the Forbidden Spell Mages?"

"Yes, that's exactly what I mean."

"But isn't that suicidal? Last time the elves used the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array, over fifty thousand millennium-old elves died, and even ignoring the array's suicidal nature, the current High Elves' magical army isn't as powerful as it was back then. Without the protection of the Throne of the Nature Goddess, even if they gathered all one hundred thousand elf mages, they might not be able to stand against two Forbidden Spell Mages. If we were to send out all three remaining Forbidden Spell Mages, they'd have no chance. Are the High Elves trying to commit suicide?" Carol, who knew the elves' strength best, immediately raised doubts.

"I think Xian Lan's theory makes sense," Tan Yueer, who had been silent, finally spoke. "Last time, over fifty thousand millennium-old elves died partly because the Great Demon King was too powerful, but also because the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array was newly created and focused solely on power. The researchers at the Holy Light Temple have already found ways to improve it, so it's not surprising if the High Elves have eliminated that flaw. The Ruins of the Celestial Gate is where the Six-Star Demon-Slaying Array was fully activated for the first time and where the Primeval Golden Tree stood for countless years. There might be some mysterious power there that we don't understand, which could greatly enhance the elf mages' strength, making the High Elves confident enough to set up the array there to face the Forbidden Spell Mages. And one thing we both know is that if the High Elves want to return to the continent and restore their elven dynasty, they will inevitably clash with the Forbidden Spell Mages. It's unavoidable. So, choosing the most advantageous battlefield is only natural for them."
