Chapter 31 Little Rabbit
byChapter 31 Little Rabbit
Suye extended both hands, spreading his ten fingers apart, and said solemnly, "I thought everyone knew this. First, become a magic apprentice, then an Iron Mage, followed by a Bronze Mage, Silver Mage, Gold Mage, then a Saint Domain Mage, Legendary Mage, Hero, and Demigod. Finally, the tenth step, becoming a God."
With each rank mentioned, Suye folded one finger, folding the last finger as he said "God."
The five classmates continued to stare at Suye, all feeling that he had truly lost his mind.
In the history of Ancient Greece, there was no precedent for a mortal ascending to godhood.
Even someone as wise as Socrates is rumored to have failed at the final hurdle.
Niedern smiled again and asked, "So how do you plan to become a magic apprentice?"
"Of course, by first finding a way to become a magic apprentice," Suye replied seriously.
"Do you think he has any chance of becoming a magic apprentice?" Niedern turned to ask the other six people.
Holt scratched his head and chuckled, "Although something feels off, when he talks about becoming a magic apprentice, it doesn't seem entirely wrong."
"His last statement isn't incorrect," Rick said.
The others were unsure what to say but felt something was amiss.
Niedern didn’t say anything more and turned to leave.
But Suye called out to him, "Teacher, I have a small question and would like to invite you to participate."
Niedern stopped, stood aside, and waited quietly.
The six classmates looked curiously at Suye.
Suye smiled and said, "Now, let's change the question. Assume the questioner is Dean Plato. Everything else remains the same, answer within three seconds; if not, you fail this year. As for Teacher Niedern... if you don't answer within three seconds, you're fired."
Niedern stared at Suye.
The other classmates chuckled quietly, while Palos and Luo Long remained expressionless.
"Ask your question quickly," Niedern said.
Suye said, "Take out your spellbooks."
Everyone took out their spellbooks, and Teacher Niedern produced his with a flip of his right hand.
"Good, now I'll ask the question. If you were all mages, sailing with four animals bound by servant contracts. Suddenly, a storm hits, and the ship is sinking, with all four animals injured. Fortunately, you see a small island ahead, but you realize your strength is limited, and you can only save one animal. Which one would you choose to bring to the island? The options are: tiger, eagle, rabbit, or sheep. Answer quickly! One, two, three!"
Unlike Niedern, Suye counted down quickly, forcing the seven to choose immediately.
"Show your answers," Suye said.
The seven flipped their spellbooks over.
Palos wrote "Little Rabbit."
Luo Long wrote "Tiger."
Holt wrote "Sheep."
Jimmy wrote "None, escape alone."
Rick wrote "Tiger."
Albert wrote "Eagle."
Niedern also wrote "Eagle."
Luo Long and Rick exchanged glances, and despite their rivalry, they felt a bit of mutual respect.
Suye looked at everyone's choices, seemingly in deep thought.
Jimmy asked curiously, "What’s the meaning behind this question? I believe it’s not that simple."
Everyone nodded.
"Want to know?" Suye smiled mysteriously.
They nodded again.
"Let's discuss it in a circle," Suye said, carrying his chair back to the table.
"This guy!" Jimmy laughed and sighed.
"Suye, don’t leave us hanging!" Holt sat next to Suye with his chair.
Suye said in surprise, "For example, you chose sheep. Is there any reason besides food?"
"Huh? How did you know I was worried about having nothing to eat on the island?" Holt looked incredulous.
"Anyone who has seen you eat knows," Suye said.
"Suye, are you really not going to tell us?" Niedern suddenly asked.
Jimmy chuckled, "Suye, think carefully. You’re offending all seven of us now!"
Palos nodded forcefully.
The others deliberately glared at Suye with ill intent.
Holt, usually honest, suddenly stood up, his hands opening and closing as if ready to grab Suye’s neck.
Suye immediately said, "Alright, alright. I'll tell you at the right time. You will find out eventually."
"That's more like it." Holt sat down.
Niedern glanced at Suye and walked toward the podium.
At this moment, Jimmy and Rick sent magical letters simultaneously.
"My choice represents what? I bet my answer is beyond your expectations, something you can't explain." This was Jimmy's letter.
"What does choosing the tiger symbolize?" Rick asked.
"Guess." Suye replied with the same content to both of them.
The two classmates turned their heads at the same time, looked over, and gave Suye a glare.
Then, Suye saw Palos glaring fiercely at him before she lowered her head to read.
"So cute and fierce..." Suye thought.
Luo Long and Albert seemed completely indifferent to the matter and ignored Suye.
Soon, Niedern announced the end of class and walked toward the door.
Holt said to Suye, "I'm going to practice combat techniques. See you tomorrow."
"I'll continue practicing long-distance running. Goodbye!" Jimmy said, leaving the classroom with Holt.
Upon hearing Jimmy's words, Suye felt helpless. As a mage, why did he practice long-distance running every day?
The key was that Jimmy was last year's long-distance running champion in the class, surpassing even the warriors.
Suye looked at the other four classmates.
Luo Long, the noble who didn't care to socialize, as usual, wore black leather armor, stuffed his magic book into his belt, grabbed his spear and sword, and walked out.
Always ready for battle.
Palos and Rick were engrossed in their magic books, studying diligently.
Suye glanced at Albert, who was thin and small, always looking gloomy. He was sitting there, sighing, not knowing what he was worried about.
"I'm going to practice sculpting." Albert said, carrying his magic book as he swayed out, looking like a drug addict who could be blown over by the wind at any moment.
Suye knew why Albert practiced sculpting. He aspired to become a puppeteer, and sculpting was an essential skill for puppeteers. He wanted to create a puppet exactly like a human, just like the Puppet King Pygmalion. However, Pygmalion's greatest work was his wife, while Albert wanted a male puppet.
Suye couldn't quite understand these people obsessed with figurines.
Although he envied Pygmalion a bit.
Suye looked at Palos again, feeling that she was quite pitiful, being so young and unable to speak.
Suye recounted his six classmates: Holt, the second-year student with friends all over the academy; Jimmy, who practiced long-distance running despite having magical talent; Luo Long, the noble who never left his spear and sword; Albert, the figurine enthusiast who might struggle with a chisel; a mute beautiful girl; and finally...
Finally, his gaze fell on Rick. Among his six classmates, he seemed to be the only one who was somewhat normal.
