Chapter 45: Don’t Scare the Child
byChapter 45: Don't Scare the Child
A tall and handsome middle-aged man walked in, his right hand casually twirling the snake-head ring on his left hand, exuding confidence with a faint hint of mockery on his face. He looked at Suye and called out loudly, "Ha, future mage, how did you find the time to dine in my humble abode?"
"K...Kelton sir..." Harmon was startled and began to stutter.
Hutton stared in disbelief. How could Kelton sir know Suye?
Senet subtly slipped the dagger into his waistband behind him and immediately bowed his head to greet, "Kelton sir, Hake sir."
Kelton and Hake merely glanced at him, not giving him a second look.
Kelton blinked and stood frozen at the door, scanning the few people present. He had assumed that Suye was dining with friends and had come to express his gratitude, but the atmosphere in the room felt off.
Harmon's heart was filled with panic. He quickly realized that if Suye truly had a good relationship with Kelton, he might be in deep trouble today.
He must not offend Kelton!
There was no way Suye could know someone as important as Kelton!
He desperately thought and soon grasped a key point: Kelton's attitude was peculiar, not like welcoming an old friend. His tone carried a hint of mockery, almost as if he disliked Suye.
"Could it be that Kelton doesn't like Suye? Yes! It must be so! Judging by Kelton's tone, he must be here to cause trouble for Suye, definitely!" Harmon's hands trembled, barely resisting the urge to wipe his sweat.
Suye remained seated, his gaze sweeping past Kelton and nodding slightly towards Hake, saying, "Hake sir."
"Hmm." Hake gave a slight nod in acknowledgment.
Neither Harmon nor Hutton noticed Hake's response, but Senet, who was most attentive to Hake, felt a wave of shock within him.
Most people didn't understand Hake, but he knew Hake's strength well—a bronze warrior capable of holding his own against a silver warrior for a long time.
Years ago, Senet had sought a sparring match with Hake, but Hake didn't respond. Impatient, Senet attacked first.
Three moves.
In just three moves, Hake knocked him unconscious with an elbow strike.
Senet knew Hake's temperament well—indifferent even to bronze warriors of the same level. Now, he was responding to a child; there must be something wrong.
"Huh? What do you mean, Suye? Didn't see me?" Kelton glared at Suye, nearly losing his temper. Greeting Hake but not me? Who does he think I am?
Seeing Kelton's attitude, Harmon was overjoyed, reaffirming that Kelton disliked Suye. But something still felt off.
Suye glanced at Kelton and said, "How could I not see you? I heard Kelton sir has been making waves in Athens City these past two days. If I'm not mistaken, you've just returned from the Pandion family?"
Harmon shuddered at Suye's tone. Suye daring to mock Kelton meant something serious.
Harmon's heart sank to the bottom.
To everyone's surprise, instead of getting angry at Suye's obvious mockery, Kelton smiled smugly and straightened his robe, saying, "I didn't really do much. I just sent some salad dressing over and chatted with Mr. Piers, the Pandion family's steward."
"And forgot about the Dolphin River?" Suye asked.
Kelton initially thought Suye was joking, since he had started the jest. But now sensing Suye's tone, he frowned and asked while looking at the other three, "What's going on?"
"These three were planning to smash up the Dolphin River restaurant," Suye said.
"Huh?" Kelton's stern gaze swept over the trio, inadvertently revealing the aura of a silver warrior.
"I didn't!" Harmon exclaimed hastily.
"I entered the wrong room," Senet tried to leave but was stopped by Hake's glance, forcing him to stand still.
Harmon, hearing Senet's words, felt a chill down his spine and looked at him questioningly.
Senet kept his head down, avoiding Harmon's gaze.
"Are they your friends?" Kelton finally shifted his focus from the joy of befriending the Pandion family and took the matter seriously.
Suye smiled, "I thought Harmon sir was your good friend."
"How could that be? I've only met this guy two or three times, and we've never spoken," Kelton said.
"We have actually spoken..." Harmon muttered softly, not daring to contradict.
Suye continued, "Then it's strange. How could he dare say at the Dolphin River that if I don't fill a cup with blood, I won't be able to leave through that door?"
Harmon was terrified.
Kelton instantly understood that Suye wasn't here of his own accord but under threat.
Kelton flew into a rage. He had just managed to establish a connection with the Pandion family through salad dressing, and the scent of their laurel tree still lingered on his robe. Someone wanted to draw blood from his greatest contributor in his own restaurant?
Kelton struggled to control his anger, staring intently at Harmon, "You want to draw Suye's blood in my restaurant?"
Harmon couldn't withstand the fury of a silver warrior. He felt as if a monstrous beast stood before him and stammered, "Sir... You misunderstood. I did nothing. My son is Suye's classmate. I invited them to eat and become good friends. Hutton, isn't that right?"
When his father called out the name, Hutton was already terrified, not knowing what to say, and simply nodded vigorously.
Kelton sighed, "It seems everyone knows I'm too kind and too easy to deceive."
Senet promptly said, "Kelton sir, here's the thing. Harmon wanted to teach Suye a lesson because Suye hit his son Hutton. I owe Harmon a favor, so I came to see. But Suye's sharp words and extraordinary demeanor made my conscience tell me not to hurt such a person. So I was about to leave when you two came in."
Harmon clenched his fists, wishing he could fight Senet.
Kelton paid no attention to Senet, focusing solely on Harmon, making him feel uneasy all over.
"K...Kelton sir..." Harmon saw a faint silver glow emanating from Kelton's body, leaving him speechless.
A Silver warrior can shatter a house with one punch.
Hutton trembled all over, falling to the ground with a thud. He struggled to get up, but his legs were out of control, unable to stand.
"Don't scare the child," Suye said casually.
Kelton snorted, reining in his power, and reached for a chair to sit down.
"As you say," Kelton drawled lazily.
Senet glanced at Suye in disbelief. Anyone who could make Kelton speak like that must be at least a Gold warrior. Just who is this Suye?
Harmon knew he was doomed when he heard Kelton's words. If Kelton and Suye were merely acquainted, he might still have a chance by bringing up someone he knew. But now, with Kelton deferring to Suye, those people would likely distance themselves from him immediately, running as far away as possible.
