Chapter 18 They are all problem children
by"Mo Tong, the intensity and sharpness of your soul force have indeed improved," Longmoer commented, at least changing the subject to prevent these two troublemakers from cursing in front of His Highness: "But you struck three inches higher than usual, and the buildup time was a few tenths of a second longer. Such an opening would allow Hei Wukai to strike many times."
"Honestly, it's just being foolish. A small opening, and this guy took the bait." Hei Wukai habitually teased.
Mo Tong’s face turned red: "You know nothing! I had to strike then; the momentum was at its peak. If I delayed any longer, it would have declined, and that would be losing!"
"As if you didn’t lose," Hei Wukai clicked his tongue: "Striking with all your strength, no defense—this habit of yours really needs to change, or you’ll keep getting beaten."
"Who do you think you are!" Mo Tong exploded: "You’re lecturing me? A coward who dodges around, come fight me head-on, and see if I don’t beat you to a pulp, ouch!"
"Remember, you owe me a thousand now." Hei Wukai whistled, not bothering to look at him, "Yin Fu, heal him up."
"Don’t move." Yin Fu’s left hand pressed against his chest, a faint blue light emanating from her palm, fleeting but effective.
"Ouch, ah! Yin Fu, lighter, it hurts! Hurts... Wait, is it over already?" Mo Tong touched his chest. In the past, such injuries would take twenty to thirty seconds to heal. How could it be done in just a few seconds?
"Your Moonlight Barrier seems to have advanced," Lucky Heaven said, eyes filled with surprise and admiration.
"I’ve made some progress in the Rune Department recently." Yin Fu smiled sweetly. Although runes were different from supernatural abilities, both relied on the same principles and understanding. Her improvement in runes meant she had also progressed in understanding her own abilities.
Mo Tong stood up, rubbing his still throbbing head, glaring fiercely at Hei Wukai.
"How about another thousand?" Hei Wukai taunted him, knowing Yin Fu would heal him anyway.
"Hei Wukai, that’s enough," Longmoer said with a smile: "Mo Tong, go rest. Think about why you lost. Seeking revenge on Hei Wukai isn’t something that can be done overnight."
Mo Tong’s face flushed, but he knew there was a gap between them.
Hei Wukai came over and put his arm around the fuming Mo Tong: "Alright, alright, don’t look so glum. Let’s go drinking another day! I’ll tell you, the wine in Aurora City is different from ours in Datura. It’s rough, but has its own charm!"
"Really?" Mo Tong perked up at the mention of alcohol. In Datura, he could only sneak a drink.
"With your intelligence, would I lie?"
"You wouldn’t." Mo Tong scratched his head, "I haven’t had a drink since I got here. Where did you get it? There’s no alcohol sold in the academy, and I remember the principal forbids drinking on campus. Did you sneak out? Damn, you didn’t even invite me..."
The two who were ready to kill each other moments ago were now arm-in-arm, plotting together.
"Haha, Senior Brother Longmoer, want to play a round? I’ll give you a 20% discount."
"Do you need money badly?" Longmoer smiled slightly.
"Indeed, a master of the Dragon Clan, foreseeing everything!" Hei Wukai grinned, completely different from the unbeatable expert he was just moments ago, "Well, there is a small matter..."
"You look like you’re asking for a loan!" Mo Tong interjected.
"What do you know, rookie!"
"Aren’t you asking me for money?" Longmoer couldn’t help but say.
Hei Wukai froze, then put on a pained expression.
"I’m hurt, Senior Brother Longmoer. They don’t understand me, but you too? You’re our big brother, whom I respect deeply!"
"Is that so?" Longmoer looked at him with a half-smile. "Since you see me this way..." Hei Wukai extended his hand aggressively: "Fine, as you wish, yes, I need a loan!"
He really was here for a loan.
Although it was just the start of the semester, Hei Wukai hadn’t attended a single class. Compared to the dull lectures at the academy, Aurora City offered far more excitement. Even before the semester began, he was already captivated by the city.
There were various taverns and brothels, and during his time with the Eight Clans, Hei Wukai never realized life could be so colorful.
He felt like a fish in water here, surrounded by beautiful women and endless wine, without the old men chasing him into taverns. He never imagined Aurora City would be such a paradise, except for the lack of funds.
Longmoer shook his head with a smile, "What do you need the money for? Did you cause trouble again? Elder..."
"Stop guessing. I acted heroically and broke a tavern, and they want me to pay for it." Hei Wukai impatiently cleaned his ear, hating lectures: "Just say if you’ll lend it or not."
"A tavern?"
"A beast-themed tavern, something with ‘Lan’ in the name. I forgot. But the beast culture is quite interesting, and the girls are fiery."
Only Hei Wukai could be so brazen in front of Lucky Heaven.
"Just be careful, here." Longmoer said, handing over the money.
"See? That’s how it’s done, the Dragon Clan style!" Hei Wukai laughed, "Later, later."
Longmoer called out behind him: "Hei Wukai, same time, same place tomorrow. We have a group activity."
The guy didn’t even turn back, carrying his sword on his left shoulder and twirling the money bag with his right finger: "You’re enough!"
"This guy is hopeless," Mo Tong exclaimed, watching in disbelief: "A disgrace to the Yecha Clan!"
"You’re no better!" Longmoer couldn’t help but say.
Mo Tong might listen more, but he had his issues too. The external affairs department had just talked to him, and now he needed to keep an eye on this thick-headed Mo Tong, fearing he’d be tricked into peeking into the girls’ bathroom again.
Headache, all troublemakers.
Longmoer reported to Lucky Heaven his observations of the Rose Holy Sanctuary, from broad concepts to every person he met at the academy, methodically and logically.
To be honest, Longmoer wasn’t here to study. The family went to great lengths to secure one of the four spots, all because Lucky Heaven was here.
