Chapter 87 Choose Your Sister
byWinnie had already prepared to give him a good beating, but suddenly she sensed something was off.
She peeked into the dormitory and saw the mountain-like Jiaobababa sitting on the floor like a dog, looking obedient and even quite content, completely lacking the awareness of being a top-tier soul beast!
The command she gave it was clearly to deal with Wang Feng properly!
Even a magic bear that could be controlled with a casual word would never misunderstand her intentions or disobey her orders. But what she saw before her…
Had Jiaobababa been subdued by Wang Feng?
To be honest, soul beasts couldn't disobey commands, yet it did… Such methods existed in her family and Hell Island, but she wouldn't believe for a second that this braggart had them too. More importantly, as its owner, she hadn't sensed anything at all.
"How did you do it?" Winnie suddenly calmed down, more interested in understanding what had happened than beating him up.
"What do you mean? I didn't do anything." Old Wang slapped his forehead. "Oh, you mean Jiaobababa! It must know our relationship. After all, I'm the captain and your big brother!"
Winnie's eyes were filled with disdain. She didn't believe him for a second. If that were true, Karida might have just passed by and subdued Jiaobababa.
But before she could finish that thought, she saw Old Wang wave at the dormitory, and Jiaobababa responded, grinning with an ugly bear pattern on its face and extending its huge paw!
Damn… she really wanted to stew that paw!
Winnie took a deep breath and narrowed her eyes.
Dealing with Old Wang often meant threats were useless. To get information out of him, one needed to be a bit more indirect. Eventually, she'd get it out of him!
"Wang Feng, let's talk about…" Winnie started to say but was interrupted.
"Hello, are you Captain Wang Feng?"
Everyone turned around and saw a clean-cut, handsome man. Winnie instinctively let go of Old Wang.
With golden hair, the rose school uniform looked like it belonged on a runway model. His demeanor was impressive; even though Old Wang had some charisma in front of Axi and the Beastmen, this guy made him look like a street vendor with his money pouch.
"Who are you?" Old Wang asked, clearly annoyed.
The handsome man smiled, revealing white, straight teeth. "Hello everyone, I'm Nuoyu. Principal Karida should have mentioned me. I'm the new member of your team. Please take care of me."
Old Wang opened his mouth, surprised. This was the son of heroes?
It was one thing to come from a good family, but how could he be so handsome too!
Was Karida losing her mind, actually helping him?
"Oh, you're Little Nuoyu. Alright, you'll be our first substitute from now on!"
"Yes, Captain!" Nuoyu said seriously.
Old Wang was a bit surprised. This guy seemed quite humble. Usually, sons of heroes were arrogant, like Winnie.
Just as he glanced at Winnie, she returned to the topic at hand. "Let's get back to the issue. As captain, you need to contribute to training the team. Otherwise, give me the captaincy. You can't just sit back and enjoy the benefits!"
This girl was relentless in trying to take over the captaincy.
"Ah, there's another document from the Self-Government Council that needs signing…"
"I can sign it!" Winnie interrupted. She wasn't falling for the same trick twice.
"Cough…"
There was no way around it.
"Being a captain requires skill," Old Wang said confidently. "How about this: you handle the two Beastmen, and I'll take Fantasi and the new substitute. We'll train them separately for a week, and whoever wins their match becomes the captain!"
The three people still counting money were stunned. Was this allowed?
Winnie frowned. This pretty boy seemed capable, but Fantasi was a waste. If they tied, she'd challenge Old Wang directly. The captaincy would still be hers!
"Deal!"
"A gentleman's word is a horse's whip. Let's do it!"
The last teleportation attempt failed but showed promise. That sun-like, familiar light was undoubtedly the path to Earth. Whether it was or not, Old Wang believed it was his reason to live.
Last time, spending 500,000 lios on 36 α4-grade soul crystals accounted for most of the expenses. If upgraded to α5-grade, the cost would quadruple, totaling nearly two million lios.
The question was, where could he get two million lios under Karida's watch?
Selling more potion formulas was difficult. The professional skills here were well-developed, and few suitable ones remained that fit his identity. Moreover, selling formulas required certification from the Professional Center. Last time, as a nobody, it was easier, but now he had a reputation due to the new rune recognition event.
Any hint of trouble reaching Karida…
She was someone who could confiscate his modified motorcycle without hesitation. Taking his money and formulas wouldn't require any discussion.
Old Wang was more worried about Karida coveting… How would he handle it? Despite her looks and charm, he was devoted to his junior sister Yueran, body and soul.
No rush, he'd bide his time and develop further!
In the Rune Department classroom…
Li Sitan walked in, clearly in a good mood. Li Sitan's biggest concern was the lack of talent continuity. Runes were the foundation of Rose, and since Wang Feng's arrival, he viewed Wang Feng almost like a son.
The pursuit of the old masters was truly noble, but Old Wang didn't understand such things. He was a practical person.
"Senior Brother Li Sitan, I have a situation to report."
Anything involving Wang Feng was important. Li Sitan didn't mind interrupting the class and said kindly, "Junior Brother, speak."
"Senior Brother, you always say we shouldn't study blindly and that balancing work and rest helps inspire creativity. I feel our Rune Department participates too little in school activities, making us seem disconnected from the Holy Sanctuary." Old Wang spoke sincerely. "So, I propose that Senior Brother apply to the Self-Government Council for a Rune Department branch. Though we are few, we are still a department. We should have a voice in the council and be aware of its activities. Our lack of involvement hinders our department's development."
The management model of the Student Council is fixed. The president, who is nominally a mentor from the Administrative Office, rarely gets involved in day-to-day affairs. The real power lies with the vice presidents, who are students themselves.
One of the vice presidents is Luo Lan, and there are eight department heads from the respective faculties. However, Rose Faculty only has seven, as the Rune faculty is often absent.
This system not only simplifies student management but also serves as a deliberate effort by the academy to cultivate the leadership skills of these top elites, thereby enhancing their future prospects within the Alliance.
The key point is that Old Wang sees business opportunities here. A group of enthusiastic free laborers within the Holy Sanctuary could be a goldmine if he were the president. With this title, it would be easier to cover up his activities and find various ways to deal with Sister Daji.
At the very least, he should aim for a department head position. There are only three people in the Rune Academy, but once they step outside, who would know?
With such a prestigious title, he would be Sister Daji's trusted confidant and the big boss of the Rune Academy—no one would dare to disagree!
Li Sitan nodded in agreement; he shared Wang Feng's view that the Rune Academy lacked vitality, which was actually a good thing.
"Senior Brother Li Sitan, I agree," Yin Fu said with a smile, raising her hand. Ever since their ride together, she had grown to trust Wang Feng even more. If Senior Brother thought it was a good idea, she would support it wholeheartedly.
"I object!" Mo Tong immediately opposed, recognizing Wang Feng's ulterior motives. Although he couldn't see through Wang Feng's intentions yet, opposition was his default stance: "Senior Brother, Wang Feng is just being irresponsible. We should focus all our energy on our studies!"
"Junior Brother, you're the one holding us back, and your objection won't change anything." Old Wang sighed.
"What a joke! What gives you the right to say that?" Mo Tong sneered, confident that Li Sitan wouldn't deny his presence: "Am I not a part of the Rune faculty?"
Ignoring the comment about holding them back, Mo Tong was convinced that Wang Feng was up to something. This wasn't paranoia; Wang Feng had deceived everyone.
"Because I agree too." Old Wang raised his hand seriously: "Thank you, Junior Brother and Junior Sister, for your support. Two to one, Senior Brother Li Sitan, we have reached a consensus!"
Mo Tong gaped, feeling that the three-person Rune faculty was incredibly unfair!
"And then there's the department head position." Old Wang continued enthusiastically: "We shouldn't make decisions unilaterally. Let's vote on this. Junior Brother Mo Tong, you go first! Don't be shy; you can vote for yourself. Our Rune faculty values fairness and meritocracy. You can run too."
Run... Run my ass!
Mo Tong felt like he was being toyed with. With a two-to-one vote, what was the point of him voting? He turned his head away in frustration, while Yin Fu naturally nominated Wang Feng and even urged Mo Tong not to act childish.
Mo Tong was about to explode. Was he a child?
Why did he feel so out of place among humans, constantly mocked by the likes of Hei Wu Kai?
"One abstention, two votes in favor!"
"I'll submit the application for you after class." Li Sitan chuckled, returning to the matter at hand: "Wang Feng, Junior Brother, did you gain any insights during your meditation session last time?"
"Nope." Old Wang shook his head contentedly. Actually, he could apply himself, but Li Sitan's influence would ensure the responsible teacher wouldn't refuse him.
The Student Council is a great place, full of talented people. By getting a foothold here, he could leverage their help to make money!
