Chapter 6 Exotic Chicken Legs Supreme
by... Having seen off the satisfied Hawkland, Karida’s lips twitched. At thirty years old, her position was truly inconceivable, and it had caused a sensation across the entire continent at the time.
Karida, granddaughter of Karun, one of the three great Rune Masters of the Nine Heavens Continent, graduated from Rose Academy at sixteen with a dual career as a Soul and a Rune Master. She spent twelve years traveling and studying across the continent before returning to take up a teaching position at Rose Academy for two years. Eventually, she became the principal of Rose Academy in an effort to reverse its declining status over the years.
The old Rose Holy Sanctuary, focused on runes, had fallen into the trap of excessive research, which was not an attractive proposition for talented individuals. After all, runes, though noble, could not put food on the table.
As principal, Karida implemented an "expansion" strategy in her first year, seeking quality through quantity. The concept of donations also helped increase Rose Academy's funding. Without money, there could be no quality. This approach was unconventional for the honor-bound spirit of the Holy Sanctuary, and it brought her immense pressure and criticism, especially since no geniuses emerged despite the increased number of students.
In the second year, Karida intensified her efforts by opening the Rose Holy Sanctuary to the Beast Race, a move even more controversial than expansion. The Beast Race, known for their simple minds and brute strength, were considered unworthy of entering the Holy Sanctuary.
Truthfully, if Karida hadn’t secured the support of Princess Lucky Heaven of the Datura Empire, the conservative faction within Rose Academy might not have approved her decisions. Even as principal, she couldn’t act arbitrarily.
Her grandfather, who could have helped her the most, had been immersed in the study of the Fifth Order Rune Sky Dome for the past five years.
She understood the allure of runes but abandoned them after reaching the Third Order, knowing that even with her talent, runes were a path with no return.
However, a Soul who understood runes would excel in any other profession they chose.
Karida looked out the window. Stagnation meant slow death, while change inevitably brought pressure.
As for Wang Feng, Karida picked up the investigation report from the Institute of Potions. The person in question had undergone rigorous training, and the process of making the mind-altering potion was unlikely to cause such a severe explosion. Therefore, it was possible that the explosion was intentional.
Why?
Was it a form of resistance?
This was what Karida wanted to hear from Wang Feng, but he never said anything, offering instead a convoluted excuse that gave her a reason to overlook it.
Now, placing him in the Rune Academy, where he could “do things,” she wondered what kind of trouble he would stir up.
In the cafeteria of Rose Holy Sanctuary.
“Achoo, achoo.” Wang Feng bit into his meat, content. No matter what, a full stomach was essential for getting things done.
“Oh, Ah Feng, where’s my chicken leg?" Fantasia noticed something missing from his plate upon looking up.
“Oh, this is yours. I just took a bite. Here, you can have it back." Wang Feng handed the saliva-covered chicken leg back to Fantasia.
Fantasia waved his hands. "I don’t want it anymore. I’m on a diet. But seriously, you’re going to the Rune Academy! You’re the first insect soul ever admitted there. That’s amazing!"
Fantasia genuinely admired and envied his friend, believing he had real potential.
To explain, human souls are divided into four types: insect souls, tiger souls, ghost souls, and divine souls.
The characteristics of one’s soul determine the direction of cultivation, essentially the difference between half the effort for double the result and double the effort for half the result.
Insect souls are the most common, comprising 90% of the population. They are versatile but have low development ceilings, making their innate limitations fatal in professional details.
Tiger souls have inherently strong souls and are inclined towards careers like Martial Artists, Gunsmiths, and Artificers.
Ghost souls have excellent soul perception, suitable for all professions.
Divine souls, the rarest, possess unparalleled strength, agility, and insight, making them ideal for all professions. Every accomplished Rune Master is undoubtedly a divine soul.
Wang Feng pursed his lips. Besides being transferred to the Rune Academy, he was also punished with a month of public service—cleaning toilets—due to his mistake causing damage to the school.
For some reason, Wang Feng wondered if someone like Karida used the restroom.
Revenge was out of the question. During his treatment, Wang Feng had been organizing his thoughts.
"Transmigration" was essentially a spatial transfer. The light in his memory felt familiar, very much like the most powerful movement technique in the game "Nine Heavens," the "Great Freedom Heavenly Transfer Technique." That light should be the coordinate connecting this world to Earth.
Theoretically, he could return.
Staying here meant starting anew and fighting against fully leveled barbarians.
Going back meant embracing his little junior sister, inheriting billions, and achieving life’s pinnacle. Which sounded better?
The answer was clear.
Everything was ready except for the money.
"Ashi, I think we need to make some money!" Wang Feng slammed the table.
"Why, Ah Feng? Do you need money? I have some."
"That’s not enough to fill a tooth gap!" Wang Feng knew Fantasia came from a wealthy family, but it was far from meeting his needs.
Escaping?
Old Wang didn’t even consider it. Where would he go?
At least the Holy Sanctuary was reasonable. He didn’t believe finding a good outcome if caught by the Nine Gods. Now, Rose Holy Sanctuary was the safest place.
Karida’s reputation was feared by everyone.
The vast hall of the Rune Academy was cold and desolate, reflecting the decline of the rune profession in peacetime.
With a clear mindset, Wang Feng felt relaxed. Under the great Principal Karida’s leadership, he would bask in holy light, study hard, and become a good person!
A cheerful laugh and footsteps interrupted his thoughts. It seemed he finally had company.
Old Wang wasn’t inexperienced, but seeing the young beauty before him, he was momentarily stunned. Her flaxen curls, round face, large eyes like clear springs, long lashes like tiny fans, and rosy lips stood out against her fair skin. Seeing Wang Feng staring, she smiled, revealing dimples.
Exotic charm, irresistible allure.
