Jingya's brows furrowed tightly. He absolutely could not leave the Kun-Heaven Sea. Currently, he was the only one in the Whale Clan who could preside over the Kun Sea and resist the encroachment of the Blazing Heaven and Azure Heaven Seas. The three upper seas each had their own laws, and their boundaries were not fixed but distinguished by these laws.
Over the past few years, with the disappearance of the old Great Whale King, the Kun-Heaven Sea could barely maintain its defenses under Jingya's leadership. If he were to leave the Kun Sea, the critical crystal mines along the borders would inevitably be swallowed by the Blazing Heaven and Azure Heaven Seas. Once lost, even if His Majesty were to awaken the Kunwhale bloodline and achieve his true form in the future, it would be nearly impossible to reclaim them.
After a long silence, Jingya sighed deeply and gazed into the distance. "Jingyao, go and sound the Lost Horn. Prepare for the Whale Fall..."
As his words fell, a Restricted Zone Token landed in Jingyao's hand.
Clutching the token, Jingyao trembled all over, staring at Elder Jingya in disbelief. "Grandfather!"
"Go now."
"But, Grandfather, let me search for His Majesty. I swear—"
"You can swear nothing. The Dragon Abyss now is a sea of devils! Without power surpassing the early Dragon stage, one is merely a pawn, prey on the butcher's block! Go, sound the horn, and prepare for the Whale Fall!"
Tears welled up in Jingyao's eyes as she abruptly stood and flew out. She plunged through the watery curtain of the palace hall, the icy seawater jolting her senses awake. With a swift turn in the water, she swam toward the restricted zone depths of the palace.
The restricted zone was dark and silent, its waters locked in spatial stasis. An unsuspecting fish brushed against these waters and, without a moment to react, was pulverized into crimson mist by the restraining force. The blood and flesh quickly dissolved into the sea, leaving no trace.
Gazing at the dissipating blood cloud, Jingyao raised the Restricted Zone Token in her hand. A faint glow emanated from it, growing hotter until, with a violent tremor, the light rippled outward in all directions!
The stagnant waters instantly surged back to life. Holding the token aloft, Jingyao charged into the restricted zone. Countless barriers halted before the token's glow as a Sea Gate suddenly opened. Time and space twisted, revealing a jade table on the other side, bathed in sunlight, upon which rested a horn.
Taking a deep breath, seawater filled her mouth before filtering out through the gills behind her ears. She stepped through the Sea Gate.
Beyond lay the treasure vault of the Whale Clan, where each token corresponded to a secret treasure. Yet, with the old Great Whale King's disappearance, most of the Whale Clan's treasures had lost their keys. Only about a fifth of the Sea Gate tokens remained in the palace.
Standing before the jade table, Jingyao lifted the horn—the Lost Horn, audible only to the royal lineage of the Whale Clan.
*Woo... Woo... Woo...*
The lament of the horn echoed in her ears, a testament to her royal lineage. But among the many royals, only His Majesty now possessed the Kunwhale bloodline capable of commanding all creatures of the Kun-Heaven Sea.
Throughout the palace, every member of the Whale Clan with royal lineage paused, lifting their heads toward the restricted zone. The sounding of the Lost Horn signaled the fall of a great whale!
Deep in the sea, within a grand hall, nine elder whales suddenly opened their eyes. A faint gleam shone through their clouded gazes. The Lost Horn had sounded, yet none among them were destined to fall...
*Hum!*
At that moment, light flared at the center of the hall as a teleportation array activated, opening a Sea Gate. Amid spraying foam, Elder Jingya emerged from it, accompanied by three Ghost Summit Whales.
"Jingya, what has happened?"
"Elder Council, I pay homage."
Without answering, Jingya and the three Ghost Summit Whales knelt in reverence.
The nine elders smiled faintly, allowing the gesture without protest.
"Has the time come?"
"Truthfully, we should have sacrificed our waning forms when Kunlong disappeared."
"Speak, then. What troubles you now?"
Jingya sighed bitterly and recounted the prince's foolhardy treasure hunt. The elders, who had been calm moments before, roared in outrage. All else could be forsaken—but the Kunwhale bloodline must not perish! "I must govern the Kun Sea and cannot leave lightly. These past years, the mermaids of the Azure Heaven Sea have grown increasingly insolent, their laws eroding our borders. But aside from me, no one can ensure His Majesty's absolute safety in the Dragon Abyss. Worse still, the Dragon Abyss is now the mermaids' domain. If they discover His Majesty is there..."
"Howl! Pathetic mermaids! How dare they claim kingship!"
"They were but playthings of our kind in the past, yet now... roar!"
"Silence! Ever since the Ancestral God fell and the Wang clan remade the heavens and earth, the Great Whale Era has long passed. Now, the most crucial task is to retrieve His Majesty! We cannot afford to lose our king again!"
"Roar! Whale Fall! Let it be! Summon suitable successors for us to protect His Majesty!"
"Let our decaying bodies fall as whales!"
"Jingya! Are these three the successors you have chosen for us?"
Jingya took a deep breath. "By the name of the Kun Sky Sea, I swear these successors shall pledge eternal loyalty to His Majesty!"
The three kneeling Ghost-Peak Great Whales raised their heads and swore an oath to the Kun Sky Sea.
"We swear by the Kun Sky Sea, to serve Emperor Kunlin with unbreakable loyalty! Unwavering even as the seas run dry and the rocks crumble!"
The nine Great Elders exchanged satisfied glances and simultaneously raised their hands. Three among them, in particular, gazed with fatherly pride—these were their pure-blooded descendants.
Boom!
Light erupted from their bodies, nine radiant pillars illuminating the abyssal depths. Countless sea demons and abyssal beasts fled in terror as an altar outside the grand hall suddenly activated. The force of its power stirred the seabed, churning up silt in the violent currents.
Simultaneously, numerous sea gates opened, summoning all remaining Great Whale royals from the Kun Sky Sea to gather outside the altar. All eyes solemnly fixed upon the grand hall's entrance, above which three ancient whale glyphs loomed—"Whale Fall Hall."
The sounding of the Lost Horn signaled that the elders of Whale Fall Hall were about to perform their final rite. Every royal who heard the horn was honor-bound to witness this sacred ceremony.
Amidst the surging tides, the grand hall's doors swung open.
The nine pillars of light stretched into the heavens as all royals knelt in unison. Silence reigned, broken only by the restless sea.
"Ancestral Sea, it was You who birthed us!"
"O Ancestral Sea, it was You who nurtured us!"
"Ancestral Sea, it was You who strengthened us!"
"Ancestral Sea, all that we are comes from You!"
"Now, our time has come."
"It is time to return to You."
As the elders chanted, the nine Great Elders unleashed the full might of their Dragon-Level power!
Their profound powers clashed, yet upon stepping onto the altar, all energy condensed into coalesced energies before them. Each took a distinct form—some resembling the Great Whale's true form, others manifesting as towering waves crashing against the heavens.
"Come forward!"
The three Ghost-Peak successors chosen by Jingya immediately advanced. The elders observed them—all at their peak, unlike themselves, who, despite their Dragon-Level strength, stood at life’s end. Most crucially, these successors were of pure royal lineage.
"Come, enter the altar and receive the first gift of our Whale Fall!"
With grim resolve, the three Ghost-Peak Great Whales stepped onto the altar. Gazing upon their ancestors, sorrow for the elders' impending passing mingled with the thrill of the legacies they would receive, clashing in their hearts.
"Do not mourn us. The Great Whale is born of the sea, grows by the sea, and is mighty through the sea. To the sea, we shall return in the end!"
The nine elders divided into three groups, each trio facing one successor, and awakened the altar.
Rumble...
The altar trembled as the nine beams of light from the elders suddenly merged into one, engulfing the altar in light.
Within the light, a leviathan drifted lazily, as if ancestors from distant times were watching this ritual.
"The first gift, bestowed upon the guardians of our clan who uphold the will of the ancestral sea! Come forth! Receive the rite!"
*Baptism of the Sea!*
Boom boom boom boom boom...
The condensed power before the elders took form and surged toward their chosen inheritors. Dragon-Level power roared and keened in the waters, reaching for the future yet bound to the past!
The elders' power, too, had been passed down from their predecessors—generation after generation of whale elders, carried forward through each Whale Fall.
Yet, sorrowfully, it took three elders’ power to forge a single inheritor.
Once, in the prime of this great Whale Hall, a thousand elders awaited inheritors for the Whale Fall!
Now, only these scant nine remained. After them, the whale clan may not even muster three elders!
Hundreds of observing royal clan members bowed their heads in unison, forming a sacred whale gesture.
A dirge-like whale song swelled through the waters, hummed by all the royals—born of the sea, strengthened by the sea, returned to the sea...
As their power faded, the nine whale elders smiled serenely at the gathered royals. Their minds faded, and they could no longer maintain human forms. Amid the churning waves, they transformed into nine behemoths, each spanning hundreds of meters.
They were ancient now, their bodies aged and worn after gifting their power. Their bellies were blotched with age, their once-snowy hides now dulled to yellow and black.
Ooooooh...
The aged whales let out resonant calls, and the royal whale song fell silent.
The nine whales, now mindless, drifted apart, each swimming in a different direction. They would swim tirelessly, without food or sustenance until their strength failed, then descend into the abyss.
They would reach the frigid, distant depths—where few creatures survived the cold. Yet, in those icy trenches, thermal "oases" thrived, sustaining countless mindless sea creatures that migrated from one end of the ocean to the other to breed.
These oases were the remnants of the fallen whale elders. Their final power maintained warmth for millennia—the whale clan’s tribute to the sea.
The figures of the ancient whales grew distant, vanishing at last.
Among the royals, an elder burst forward, scowling at Jingya. Only the elders knew—the nine had been far from their time of necessary Whale Fall.
Jingya merely cast a cold glance, his crushing aura drove the elder back. The fewer who knew of the Emperor's journey to the Dragon Abyss Sea, the better.
Turning to the three Ghost Peak inheritors, Jingya saw that in mere moments, they had already begun radiating the aura of Dragon-Level beginners—though unstable. Their massive power lay dormant within their whale bodies, stored in every organ, every fiber. Time would allow them to fully absorb it, and then they would break through to full Dragon Level.
In emergencies, the three united could unleash power surpassing even that stage.
"Go. To the Dragon Abyss Sea. Retrieve the secret treasure. Fulfill your duty—do not dishonor the elders’ sacrifice! Nor the Emperor's expectations!"
......
At that moment, far on the distant mainland coast, two soaked giants lumbered ashore. Towering over ten meters tall, their shadows engulfed a grove of coconut trees by the shore...
One, dark-skinned, glanced around nervously, his face scrunched in worry. "Your Majesty, let's just go back..."
The other, fair-skinned, brimmed with excitement and curiosity. He shot the dark one a glare. "Xiao Qi! It’s Brother Wanglin or Lin now! We're not in the sea anymore! You want me exposed? And remember—humans are puny! Don’t blow our cover!"
After a moment, layers of mist rose from the two figures as moisture evaporated from their bodies. The dark-complexioned man rapidly shrunk to just over two meters tall, while the pale-faced Wang Lin'ge shrunk to around one and a half meters...
Wang Lin raised his head and looked at the dark-complexioned man with disdain. "Can't you shrink any further? At your height, humans will be terrified—more importantly, it might expose me! Maybe you shouldn’t follow me anymore."
"Your Majesty! No, you promised I could always stay by your side... Ahem! Lin'ge, stop hitting me! I... but I can’t shrink any further. I’m just an ordinary Wu tribesman, with only a trace of royal bloodline..."
The pale-faced one pondered for a moment before sighing helplessly. "Then pretend to be a beastman... Books say beastmen are usually quite large."
"Yes."
"By the way, do you know how to make clothes?"
The pale-faced one glanced at his now-naked body after shrinking and asked.
"No... but I can learn!"
A day later...
A tall and a short figure, both dressed in tattered rags, excitedly rushed into a fishing village. The shorter one stopped an old fisherman. "Excuse me, where is Aurora City?"
The old fisherman looked them over, shook his head, and chuckled. "You two aren’t also heading to the Rose, are you?"
"Yes, yes! Exactly, the Rose!"
"Haha, that’s quite far. You won’t make it on foot. But you can try hopping a magic rail car—just make sure it’s a cargo train. Don’t know what that looks like? It’s the black ones, no windows on the sides..." The kind-hearted old fisherman explained in detail.
Soon, the two set off happily in the direction the fisherman had pointed.
The old fisherman watched their retreating figures and sighed. "Ah, nowadays, everyone wants to try their luck at the Rose..."
Even in his small fishing village, several young men who fancied themselves strong had already hopped cargo trains bound for Aurora City.
For the first time in so many years, commoners like them had a glimmer of hope...
...
The magic rail station in Aurora City was bustling with activity. The entire platform was decorated with festive lanterns and streamers, usually reserved for the Sacred Dawn Festival. The central area was especially busy—a whole circus troupe was making frantic preparations, with performers occasionally testing fire-breathing devices. Nearby, a spacious terrace was cordoned off with security lines.
The newly appointed mayor of Aurora City, Anbolin, was inspecting the arrangements. Dozens of reporters from various media outlets swarmed around him, though they were held back by a wall of burly beastman bodyguards. Camera flashes never ceased, and questions flew endlessly, but Anbolin paid them no mind. These days, he hadn’t even had a proper meal. The brutality of power struggles went without saying—a single loss was never just a loss. For the Rose, they had to lose with dignity to survive. But in the end... they won.
Everyone had misjudged. That sycophant turned out to be a top-tier expert. The claims about the Holy Light and the Sacred Path—he believed them now. Thinking back, how else could someone act so recklessly without such confidence?
Extraordinary people did extraordinary things, but only with real strength to back it up.
This victory was crucial for Anbolin too. His position was now secure, and the future was wide open. He finally had the chance to fully put his business skills to work. Of course, he had no interest in these interviews.
This left Old Fan in the spotlight—a native of Aurora City, the owner of a winery who had nurtured an outstanding local talent, Fantexi: Fan Zhongshi!
With Anbolin unresponsive, the reporters quickly turned their attention to Old Fan. Surrounded by the media scrum, Old Fan was already choked up.
For Fan Zhongshi, the mere opportunity for expanded enrollment that allowed Fantexi to become a Holy Sanctuary disciple was already an honor to his family name. He had thought that once Fantexi slowly graduated from the Rose and entered a public office in Aurora City as a Tiger Peak-tier disciple, it would mark a successful class leap and a fulfilled life. But who could’ve imagined... the kid actually reached *Ghost-level*! Not only that, he shone brilliantly in the Holy Sanctuary Challenge, putting Aurora City and the Rose on the map, becoming a heroic figure revered by all Holy Sanctuary disciples!
Now, even as a man with one foot in the grave, he found himself standing in the center stage behind the mayor of Aurora City. This... this was beyond words...
Beyond the bustling main stage, the platform was packed with at least ten thousand people, all waving small red flags. Some stood, some sat, some squatted, buzzing with chatter. Strangely enough, quite a few beastmen were mixed in the crowd.
The Rose team’s two-month-long challenge journey had changed so much. Aurora City, often isolated, was an open city—always quick to embrace new ideas and relatively tolerant of beastmen. That was why beastmen came here, but at heart, they were still looked down upon. However, with Kela and Wu Di playing key roles in the team, humans gradually accepted them. Attitudes toward beastmen began to shift, and the Rose Holy Sanctuary actively promoted this change. After defeating the Zenith Holy Sanctuary, under the halo of immense glory, everything clicked into place.
On another front, Wu Dagan wasn’t idle either. Under Anbolin and Clara’s arrangements, several vigilante groups emerged in the city. The city guard was understaffed and often slow to respond, but beastmen frequently stepped in to do the right thing, asking for nothing in return—only expressing gratitude to the Holy Sanctuary. With both efforts combined, Aurora City achieved newfound unity.
Only a united Aurora City can face the immense business opportunities and challenges of the future.
Such a grand occasion hasn’t been seen in Aurora City for many years—not even during the transition between old and new city lords or the annual Sacred Dawn Festival. The whole platform hummed with restless energy as people kept glancing toward the empty stretch of the Magic Rail in the distance, eagerly anticipating something.
Until the sun hung high in the sky, nearing noon.
Clank-clank-clank-clank… A Magic Rail train sped into view from afar.
"They’re here! The train’s here!"
"Is Rose on that one?"
"Obviously! They shut down the whole line this morning—whose train could it be if not theirs?!"
"The Rose Sanctuary! Old Wang Squad! The heroes of Aurora City are back!"
"WHOOHOO! Brothers, pound those drums, clash those gongs, everyone—shout it out!"
The station, which had been merely buzzing, exploded with excitement in an instant. Countless people stood up, crowding the edges of the platform and straining for a better view. The train hadn’t even fully entered the station, yet they were already waving their little colored flags, whooping and hollering.
