Chapter 127 Long Live the Old King
byHan Shangyan carefully supervised the store clerk in handling Old Wang's goods. When he returned to the Holy Sanctuary, he respectfully waited at the entrance of the Foundry until it was almost dark and saw Anbolin come out looking tired.
After recounting what happened at Anhe Hall today, Anbolin indeed smiled.
"I knew the stuff from Rose wouldn't be good," Anbolin praised with a smile. "Well done. Among my disciples, you may not have the best talent, but you are the most clever and understand my thoughts the best."
Hearing this, Han Shangyan beamed with joy, feeling every pore of his body open up. "I noticed that Wang Feng spoke with great respect for Master. He seems quite interested in joining your tutelage, but unfortunately, Rose doesn't seem willing to let him go."
"Old Luo wouldn't let such a genius go easily; it would be strange if he did," Anbolin said with a laugh. "But this matter isn't entirely up to Rose Foundry; it mainly depends on Wang Feng himself." Anbolin continued, "This kid is just too loyal. It's normal for him to struggle with changing his mind for now."
"Yes, Master, I agree!"
"No worries, money can solve problems," Anbolin instructed. "I've been busy lately, so tomorrow, you'll go to several branches for me. From now on, whenever Wang Feng buys materials, give them to him at cost price, and finished products at production cost. We don't fear him buying; we only fear him not buying!"
A glint flashed in Anbolin's eyes as he chuckled. "Since he values loyalty, the more discounts we give him, the more he'll feel indebted to us! Haha, debts of money can be repaid, but debts of gratitude cannot. When Wang Feng feels he can no longer repay this debt, it will be time for him to change allegiance!"
Anbolin thought to himself, how much could one disciple buy anyway?
---
The square in front of the Foundry was crowded with many people eagerly awaiting news.
"How could anyone get a 30% discount from Anhe Hall? Do you think he might be buying inferior materials instead?"
"I only invested 200 euros, just to show respect to Senior Brother Patu and try it out."
"Wang Feng has always been decent to us. I doubt he'd cheat us. If he really gets the discount, it could save us a couple hundred euros each month."
"Some people are hard to read, you know. Maybe last time was intentional?" someone sneered. "You're thinking about the discount, but he might be after your principal."
"That's unlikely, just a few hundred euros... Besides, Senior Brother Patu and Senior Sister Su Yue are guarantors."
"What if they were also deceived by Wang Feng? Anyway, I'll check everything carefully. If it's not from Anhe Hall, I won't let Wang Feng off easy!"
The Foundry disciples chattered among themselves, with Su Yue and Patu nearby, overhearing their comments. Patu, somewhat anxious, said, "Sister, we've been waiting for over half an hour. What if Wang Feng was just joking? If he's trying to scam the Foundry, it's not just about losing trust, but we're the guarantors..."
Su Yue glanced at him. "Didn't you also want the discount and bought over a thousand euros worth of materials? Why weren't you worried then?"
Patu laughed awkwardly. "I was tricked by his smooth talk! Sister, Wang Feng isn't bad, but he talks a lot..."
"He probably wouldn't cheat us," Su Yue interrupted calmly. "He's likely just trying to get the discount. If he can't, he'll refund the money."
"Good point!" Patu slapped his thigh. "Sister, you're so smart. Wang Feng is trying to win our votes with empty promises! He's used to talking big, that mouth of his, tsk tsk, amazing!"
Su Yue smiled, sensing Patu's double meaning, but if it were Wang Feng, he might actually do something like this.
Why else would he announce it before it was confirmed?
Of course, he wanted to avoid being called all talk and no action. Even if he failed, everyone would know he tried. But it might backfire.
Forget it, let's disperse everyone first. If he gets the discount, we can gather again later.
"This Wang Feng!" Su Yue shook her head with a smile, about to suggest everyone go home, when she heard the sound of a motorcycle.
The buzzing chatter in the square suddenly quieted down as everyone saw a truck marked 'Anhe Hall' pulling in with a long cargo box.
Everyone stared in amazement, Patu's eyes glowing with excitement.
Is he serious?
Home delivery is VIP treatment.
Envy and anticipation filled the air as the other disciples watched the Anhe Hall truck pull up. This was imported from the Nine Gods Empire, rare even in Aurora City.
Old Wang jumped out of the truck, winked at Su Yue, and declared loudly, "Foundry brothers, those who registered for materials, come and collect them!"
As he spoke, the Anhe Hall staff quickly unloaded boxes from the truck.
Seeing the beautifully printed Anhe Hall boxes, the previously quiet square erupted into cheers.
"It's real! Oh my god, 30% off materials from Anhe Hall!"
"Damn, I wish I had bought more!"
"Don't worry, we can apply monthly. I haven't bought anything yet!"
"Senior Brother Patu! I want to register, I want to register!"
"Me too!"
"And me!"
"Long live Old Wang!"
Voices echoed across the square, accompanied by the laughter of those who received their discounted items. Everyone reached a collective high.
Old Wang waved at them, pleased. Kids are easy to please; the Foundry is secured.
---
The high-quality Anhe Hall materials at low prices made Old Wang an instant hero in the Foundry. Except for those who had already voted for Luo Lan and couldn't change their votes, everyone else became his loyal supporters.
Unfortunately, the Foundry was the smallest and least powerful branch outside of the Rune Academy and Soul Beast Academy in the Rose Holy Sanctuary. Coupled with Wang Feng's cowardly avoidance during the battle at the Gun Institute and Karida's questionable methods, his reputation suffered. Despite securing the Foundry, Old Wang still held the lowest support rate at just 5%.
Luo Lan, on the other hand, gained popularity by defeating Nuoyu with a soul artifact and showing magnanimity towards Wang Feng. Her support surged, solidifying her top position and widening the gap with second-place Ning Zhiyuan. She now had over half the total votes, ensuring her victory unless something unexpected happened.
Old Wang wasn't too concerned. He knew he needed to take things step by step. Compared to the Foundry, the Institute of Potions had more votes.
This should have been easier to handle, but after discussing cooperation with Famier, Old Wang expected a quick response. However, days passed without any news from Famier.
Su Yue found out that Dean Famier had gone to an academic conference a few days ago and hadn't returned yet. Famier was also worried, as she couldn't make such a major decision without her master's approval, even as the head of the Institute of Potions. She could only ask Su Yue to tell Wang Feng to be patient.
Old Wang didn’t have much hope either. It seemed he was destined to have trouble with potions. Every time he talked about making potions, first Clara went missing, and now it was Famier’s turn. Finding a reliable collaborator was proving to be incredibly difficult.
The day for Dage’s summoning was approaching again, and he only had a mere 5% of the votes. He was sure to receive another scolding, and getting beaten up by Lan Tian wasn’t entirely out of the question.
Old Wang was feeling quite troubled, especially since a few nosy and gossipy people kept treating his dormitory like a public space.
"Wang Feng, what good did all this fuss do you? You only got 5% of the votes. Do you know why? Because you’re too stupid!" Winnie was clearly annoyed. She was genuinely regretting helping Wang Feng sign up. Look at what he had done: "Talking about prioritizing women if you become president—have you lost your mind? Are you on drugs?"
Winnie was speechless. How could someone come up with such a bizarre idea? Feminism? The term was certainly new, but it was going against the traditions of the entire continent. Even someone as fearless as Winnie wouldn’t dare voice such thoughts publicly. Wang Feng was really courting disaster.
"Winnie, have you been growing lately?" Old Wang looked Winnie up and down. The little girl was growing everywhere except in height.
"Stop staring! Don’t lust after my beauty!"
Old Wang was speechless. She was the one who pushed him to run for the position, and now she was mocking him. What did this girl want?
Old Wang said earnestly, "Winnie, aren’t you a woman yourself? Why are you discriminating against women?"
"Are you brain-dead? This isn’t about discrimination!" Winnie glared at him. This useless captain just didn’t get it: "The ratio of men to women in our Rose is six to one. Even if you manage to win over that small group of women, you’ll offend many more men. And you still want to be president! Besides, as a single guy, you don’t understand women at all. Making empty promises won’t convince anyone. In the end, you’ll lose support from both sides. This is just asking for trouble."
Nuoyu frowned, trying to understand Old Wang’s thinking. Usually, he could find some noble intention behind Old Wang’s ideas, but this so-called feminism was beyond him. The word didn’t even exist in books!
