Chapter 55 Rescue (Part 1)

Lin Xing slowly felt his way forward through the tunnel. Although First Brother had said there were no sentries or the like here, Lin Xing did not fully believe those words.

After walking for a few minutes, a faint light glimmered up ahead, clearly a stark contrast to the cave's darkness. Had he reached his destination? Lin Xing became even more cautious.

Indeed, there were no sentries or traps in the cave.

As he drew closer to where the light was coming from, he found a door there. Lin Xing pressed himself against the door and discovered no one inside. Perhaps those inside had enough confidence in the outer defenses, or maybe there weren't many people inside at all!

Lin Xing gently pushed open the door, and the space before him suddenly opened up. Inside was a valley! The valley was now illuminated by burning torches. It was neither large nor small, with an irregular shape. Nestled against the cliff walls inside the valley stood rows of houses, and there were even some caves dug into the rock.

Lin Xing looked up. It was pitch black. Even with his vision, he couldn't see anything above. There were only clouds and mist. He figured it was probably shrouded in mist during the day too; otherwise, the mountaintops above would have revealed the secret of the valley below. The followers of the Divine Wind Sect probably wouldn't have remained undiscovered until now.

Inside, a cacophony of sounds mingled together—women's screams and even children's cries. Lin Xing couldn't help but frown. He sensed there were at least a hundred people inside.

This was a bit of a problem. If it were just about killing the Divine Wind Sect members, Lin Xing wouldn't be afraid of anything. But now, it wasn't just that. The most important thing was to rescue the people who had been captured. This meant he had to hold back.

Without further hesitation, Lin Xing darted toward the nearest room!

Like a ghost, Lin Xing silently crossed the exposed open ground and approached the outside of a room with no lights. There was no one inside! With a burst of palm force, he shattered the lock and quietly slipped in.

The room was relatively clean, with some beds and similar items—it seemed to be a bedroom. Finding nothing of interest, Lin Xing was about to leave when someone approached from outside. In a flash, he hid behind the door!

The door opened, and a wave of alcohol fumes washed over him. It was a bunch of drunks! The men swayed unsteadily toward the beds. Suddenly, with a "thud," one of them fell to the ground. Before the rest could react, another person also fell.

"Asleep? Asleep?" the remaining man said with a laugh.

"Yes, they're asleep, and they won't be waking up again!" a cold voice spoke next to his ear.

"Who's there?" The drunken man immediately sobered up and saw Lin Xing standing before him.

"Enem—" Before he could finish, Lin Xing grabbed his neck.

"Tell me, where are the captured people being held? And which room is your Hall Master in?"

The man's eyes were watering from the pressure. Seeing this, Lin Xing loosened his grip slightly. "Speak quickly. My patience isn't great. One wrong move, and you'll be joining them on the road!" Lin Xing pointed to the two dead bodies on the ground.

This man was clearly one who feared death and clung to life, his face already a mask of terror from Lin Xing's intimidation.

"I'll talk, I'll talk! Our Deputy Hall Master and the battalion commander who arrived today are in a room to the east—a large, luxurious house. The captured people are all held in a cave to the north, the one with many guards outside." The man looked pitifully at Lin Xing as he spoke.

"Good, very good." Lin Xing nodded in satisfaction, then applied a slight force with his hand. A crisp *snap* was heard, and the man's head slumped lifelessly.

Letting the corpse drop, Lin Xing couldn't help but curse inwardly, "Damn it, which way is east?"

An image flashed in Lin Xing's mind: the east side had a seemingly luxurious room, so that must be east. But where was the heavily guarded cave to the north? There were many houses!

Could it be inside one of the houses? What should he do now? There's only so much one man can do. "If only I had a few more people to help me," Lin Xing sighed inwardly.

He wanted to rescue people, but if he didn't deal with them first, he definitely wouldn't be able to save anyone. However, if he tried to take them all out, there were too many people to handle at once. Moreover, he would surely be discovered by others. In that case, even if they fought desperately, he wasn't afraid for himself, but the captured people would likely...

Lin Xing was now at a loss.

At that moment, Lin Xing was hiding outside a lit room. As soon as he broke through the door, he heard some extremely lewd sounds coming from inside, causing Lin Xing's ears to burn with embarrassment. "These bastards, still doing this even now! Fine, I'll send you on your way while you're having fun!"

Lin Xing quietly slipped inside. What met his eyes was a lewd scene: a woman with her hands tied was being violated by an extremely ugly man! The woman seemed to be resisting, but it was all in vain.

"Could she be one of the captured people?" Lin Xing's anger surged.

The resisting woman suddenly saw a head fly off, and a spray of warm blood showered her body! Startled, she froze for a moment before reacting and opening her mouth to scream.

Seeing the woman about to scream, though embarrassed to look at her naked body, Lin Xing rushed forward and covered her mouth, saying, "Don't scream!"

Once the woman calmed down and nodded at Lin Xing, he released his hand from her mouth.

"Put on some clothes," Lin Xing said, tossing a set of clothes over.

"Um, could you untie the ropes on my hands?"

Lin Xing felt a bit embarrassed—he had been careless. With a few quick movements, he untied the ropes binding the woman's hands.

The woman was efficient. In no time, she put on the clothes and cleaned the marks from her body. Still angry, she gave the dead man a few hard kicks before stopping.

"Thank you for saving me, benefactor!" The woman bowed respectfully to Lin Xing.

Lin Xing chuckled, "It's nothing." He noticed that the young woman before him was quite beautiful, though it was a shame she had been violated.

"Time is urgent. Tell me about the current situation!" Lin Xing didn't want to waste any time.
