Chapter 134: The Divine Beast—Kirin
by 骑着蜗牛去旅行Chapter 134: Divine Beast—the Qilin
"Divine Beast?" Lin Xing exclaimed. He then gave a bitter smile and looked at Can Yue. "You want me to deal with a Divine Beast? You're giving me way too much credit."
Lin Xing knew that a Divine Beast was completely out of his league. Not to mention a Divine Beast, even a Sacred Beast was not something he could defeat every single time, as some Sacred Beasts possessed formidable strength. At present, Lin Xing could only handle lower-level Sacred Beasts at best.
Just hearing the name 'Divine Beast' was scary enough, let alone actually confronting one. With his current strength, wouldn't he just be delivering himself as a snack?
"Yes, a Divine Beast. But as for what specific Divine Beast it is, from what I remember, I don't know what kind it is. It seems like it has never appeared before," Can Yue said.
"Then how do you know it's a Divine Beast?" Lin Xing asked, puzzled.
"Haha, I naturally have my ways of knowing," Can Yue replied with a laugh, brushing it off.
"So, are you interested in going to take a look?"
Lin Xing hesitated. He lowered his head, thinking. To be honest, the treasure was certainly tempting. But Lin Xing considered his lack of strength. A Divine Beast—what exactly was that? Divine Beasts were the pinnacle of existence on this continent. Asking someone who had just stepped into the Saint Level to confront a Divine Beast was nothing short of a pipe dream.
However, his curiosity won out. Perhaps he really was the destined one. Even if he wasn't, it would still be worthwhile to go and see it, treating it as training. With his current strength, escaping shouldn't be a problem, right? And if things really went south, he still had these two here to back him up. Lin Xing glanced at Can Yue and the others; surely they wouldn't just stand by and watch him die.
"Alright, I'll go take a look," Lin Xing said, raising his head and looking at Can Yue firmly.
"Good. Rest well today, and tomorrow I'll take you there. It'll save you the walk."
The night flew by.
The next day, Lin Xing was already prepared, waiting for Can Yue to lead the way.
"Lin Xing, let's go," Can Yue said.
"Which direction?" Lin Xing asked.
"No need to rush. Come over to my side, Lin Xing," Can Yue said with a smile. Lin Xing did as he was told. With a wave of his hand, Can Yue instantly put up a transparent barrier around the three of them.
"Let's go," Can Yue laughed. Lin Xing's head swam, his vision blurred, and the scenery around them suddenly changed.
"We're here," Can Yue said, waving his hand to disperse the barrier.
"Already?" Lin Xing looked at Can Yue in astonishment. How fast was that? They had arrived in the blink of an eye. From what he had said, there should have been quite a ways between here and their house. This speed was absolutely unbelievable.
Seeing Lin Xing's shocked expression, Can Yue smiled lightly. "That was a bit quick, but you don't need to look like that, do you?"
Lin Xing stared at Can Yue as if he were a monster, thinking to himself, *A bit fast? It was practically like teleportation!*
"Don't look at me like I'm some monster; I'm not. You should take a look at that treasure instead," Can Yue said, pointing behind Lin Xing.
Only then did Lin Xing look around. He found himself in a large canyon, standing at its entrance. The canyon was circular, with only some low trees inside. In the center stood a massive black sword, about two meters tall, with a dragon-head-shaped hilt. The entire sword exuded an extraordinary and majestic aura.
Looking at the sword, the faint feeling of being called that had always lingered in Lin Xing's heart suddenly intensified. Could he really be the destined one? Lin Xing wondered.
After a quick glance, Lin Xing didn't see the guardian Divine Beast and looked at Can Yue questioningly. "Where's the so-called Divine Beast you mentioned?"
Just then, a furious roar echoed from within the canyon. "Who dares disturb this Divine Beast's peaceful slumber? Got a death wish?" The voice boomed like thunder, ringing directly in Lin Xing's ears.
Lin Xing turned toward the sound and saw the Divine Beast, immediately standing there dumbfounded.
The giant beast was entirely black, standing two meters tall and four meters long. It resembled a deer, with a tail like an ox's and a single horn on its head. This... wasn't this the legendary Divine Beast Qilin? Lin Xing stared in astonishment.
"Qilin!" Lin Xing exclaimed.
"What? You say this Divine Beast is called Qilin?" Can Yue asked, looking surprised.
Lin Xing nodded. "Yes, it's a Qilin."
"Oh? Kid, you actually know this Divine Beast's name," the Qilin said to Lin Xing in a rumbling voice.
"What's so strange about that? I've often seen your image," Lin Xing blurted out, but immediately regretted it.
Lin Xing glanced at Can Yue, but fortunately, Can Yue didn't seem to notice anything unusual.
Looking at the Qilin before him, Lin Xing actually felt a sense of closeness! He could sense the Qilin's friendly intent.
The Qilin walked straight over, circling Lin Xing repeatedly while staring at him intently, which made Lin Xing nervous.
After a long while, the Qilin suddenly whispered in Lin Xing's ear, "Kid, so that's how it is."
"What do you mean?" Lin Xing was baffled, completely confused.
"Kid, go pull out that sword!" The Qilin's words were nothing short of shocking.
"What? You want me to pull the sword? Are you kidding?" Lin Xing looked at the black Qilin in disbelief.
The Qilin glared with its large eyes. "This matter is up to me. I say you pull the sword, so you pull it. Don't dither like a woman!"
"Why?" Lin Xing still couldn't believe it.
"Because you are the destined one! That's what my master instructed me before he passed away."
"Hey, Qilin, right? Are you so sure Lin Xing is the so-called destined one?" Can Yue, who had been standing by confused, finally spoke up.
The Qilin rolled its eyes. "This is this Divine Beast's business. What's it to you?" It seemed the Qilin had a grudge against Can Yue.
Can Yue could only roll his eyes helplessly; there was nothing he could do about this Qilin.
