Chapter 32 Hatred
by"Crash! Bang!" A loud noise erupted, followed by an antique-level vase shattering the window and flying out, smashing into pieces on the ground with a sharp "crack!"
"Lin Xing, you bastard!" came the furious shout from inside the room, accompanied by the sound of objects being thrown. "I won't let you get away with this!" he snarled through gritted teeth.
Outside the room, everyone was holding their breath, not daring to make a sound, afraid they might become the young master's punching bag!
Bill was now extremely angry. Today, he had originally gone out to show off his magical pet, and he was in high spirits.
But then he ran into Lin Xing! "That bastard Lin Xing," Bill seethed, his eyes red, "One day, I will personally kill you! I will grind your bones to dust and scatter your ashes!! To vent the hatred I feel today!!"
In Bill's mind, everything he had suffered today was all Lin Xing's fault. All the humiliation he endured at the Gathering Fortune Pavilion was attributed to Lin Xing.
After leaving the Gathering Fortune Pavilion, Bill felt deeply insulted and stormed straight back to his home, ignoring everyone.
Once back in his room, he closed the door and went on a rampage, smashing one valuable item after another in the bedroom.
Suddenly, a table broke through the door and flew out.
A shadow darted, and a hand caught the table, saving it from a crash landing.
"What happened? What's gotten into the young master?"
"Master!" Everyone bowed to Old Bill. It turned out Old Bill had arrived.
Old Bill was in fine spirits today. Seeing his grandson successfully tame the Swift Wind Wolf had lifted his spirits. After all, geniuses were few and far between. He, along with Old Bill's children, were ordinary people. The family hadn't produced a genius in many years. To put it nicely, before Bill, there were only those with slightly better talent, nowhere near genius caliber.
Especially Bill's father, who was even more ordinary. To this day, he remained an Advanced Swordsman, not even reaching the level of Sword Master, and likely never would in this lifetime.
The performance of his sons was a great disappointment to Old Bill. Although the third and fourth sons were fairly talented, they were not geniuses!
Now, the third son led the Bill Family's Xuanwu Legion as the Legion Commander. He was capable enough, but still didn't meet Old Bill's expectations. Old Bill wanted a genius, a peerless genius.
The most disappointing was his fourth son. Although his talent was as good as the third son's, he was a drifter who cared only for scenery and travel, hardly ever coming home, maybe a few times a year at most.
Disappointed with his sons, Old Bill could only pin his hopes on his grandsons. With the birth of each grandson, Old Bill pinned his hopes on them.
Unfortunately, the grandsons were all disappointingly ordinary!
Fortunately, his extremely ordinary second son lived up to Old Bill's expectations and gave birth to Bill, a genius.
Thus, Old Bill placed all his hopes on Bill. Whatever Bill wanted, Old Bill would satisfy, even going so far as to give him the extremely precious fifth-level magical beast, the Swift Wind Wolf!!
In high spirits, Old Bill was taking a leisurely walk around the estate when he heard Bill had taken the Swift Wind Wolf out. Old Bill just smiled, thinking it was just to show off—the Bill family had the clout for a little showing off.
However, as Old Bill walked into Bill's courtyard, his good mood was shattered by the racket inside.
Just as Old Bill was about to get angry, he realized this was Bill's residence. "Didn't he go out? What happened?" Old Bill wondered.
He then entered Bill's courtyard. As soon as he stepped through the gate, before he could take in the surrounding mess, he felt a large object flying toward him. Old Bill flared with anger—was this how he was welcomed? He quickly stepped forward and caught the object hurtling toward him!
At the same time, he noticed the commotion coming from Bill's bedroom, while the attendants who usually followed Bill stood silently to the side. "What happened? What's gotten into the young master?"
Old Bill asked with some anger.
"Master, it's like this," one attendant stepped forward and recounted everything that happened today, of course adding some embellishments.
After listening, Old Bill nodded thoughtfully. "Lin Xing, that's the young master from the Right Minister's family, right? You said there was also a little girl. Who was she? And she was so close to Lin Xing?"
"She's from the Xiao family, Master."
"The Xiao family, hmm. It seems the old man from the Xiao family is up to something. But it's not surprising, as their two families have always been close."
"And you said the young master made a scene at the Gathering Fortune Pavilion today? And the one who intervened was the person in charge of the Gathering Fortune Pavilion?" Old Bill looked sternly at the attendant.
The attendant was terrified, afraid that if he answered incorrectly, he might offend Old Bill.
"Yes, Master. When we went to eat today, there were no seats available. The manager of the Gathering Fortune Pavilion actually told us to wait outside. The young master couldn't bear it and made a scene, but it just so happened that the young master from the Right Minister's family was also there."
"I'm asking if the one who showed up was the person in charge of the Gathering Fortune Pavilion?" Old Bill said with some annoyance.
Sensing Old Bill's displeasure, the attendant immediately replied, "Yes, it seemed to be someone named Bade."
"Bade, so it was indeed the person in charge of the Gathering Fortune Pavilion. Hmm, did you notice anything else at the time?"
"At that moment, as soon as Bade appeared, we felt a great pressure, as if something was constantly squeezing us. Especially the young master, who seemed to be in great pain!"
"Bade!" Old Bill couldn't help but feel a surge of anger!
"But," "But what? Speak quickly!" Old Bill glared, clearly dissatisfied.
"But Young Master Lin Xing didn't seem to feel any pressure at all! And Bade seemed to treat Young Master Lin Xing very well."
"What did you say? You mean Bade was targeting Bill? And he treated Lin Xing well?"
The attendant gritted his teeth and said, "Yes, Master. Bade seemed to be trying to curry favor with Lin Xing."
Old Bill nodded and waved his hand, dismissing them. He couldn't help but fall into deep thought.
"Does the Gathering Fortune Pavilion have some connection with that bastard Lin Wen? But that's impossible. My intelligence over the years hasn't shown any ties between the Gathering Fortune Pavilion and that bastard Lin Wen. Strange. Could it be they've been too secretive? I must strengthen my investigations, or I might end up capsizing in a ditch."
"Hmm, but it's strange. Why would the Gathering Fortune Pavilion want to curry favor with Lin Xing? The Lin Wen family isn't more powerful than the Gathering Fortune Pavilion, is it? The backer of the Gathering Fortune Pavilion hasn't been revealed to this day!"
"Could there really be something fishy going on?" Old Bill muttered to himself. "Someone, keep an eye on the young master. Protect him well, and don't let anything happen to him. Otherwise, you know the consequences!!"
Old Bill then walked away, lost in thought.
He left without even seeing Bill, leaving behind a group of bewildered attendants.
