Chapter 86 Storming the Enemy (Part 3)
by 骑着蜗牛去旅行Chapter 2: The Target
For the Divine Wind Sect, Lin Xing was determined to eradicate them. Whether from hearsay or personal experience, the Divine Wind Sect appeared to Lin Xing as a cult-like organization, an extremely evil and heinous cult at that.
However, Lin Xing currently lacked the strength to wipe them out entirely. For now, all he could do was gradually destroy some of their branch halls, clipping their wings to cripple the sect from within.
The Gathering Fortune Tower lived up to its reputation. After Lin Xing presented his premium membership card, they promptly provided him with information about the Divine Wind Sect and warned him not to underestimate it.
Lin Xing knew this all too well. If the Divine Wind Sect were easy to deal with, it wouldn't have survived until now. Lin Xing was fearless, perhaps possessing absolute confidence in himself. In any case, he was dead set against the Divine Wind Sect.
In the following days, Lin Xing bided his time. Since he already knew their specific locations, he wasn't in a hurry. He needed to prepare thoroughly and further familiarize himself with his new power, to avoid any slip-ups when the moment arrived.
A few days later, Lin Xing began his mission. After some investigation, he decided to first target the Divine Wind Sect's stronghold nearest to Claire City.
The Divine Wind Sect didn't have many branch halls; they were mainly distributed around the Bage Country. They weren't too far-flung because the sect lacked the strength to spread its influence across the entire continent.
This was a somewhat desolate, dilapidated courtyard—the estate of a fallen noble. It was a manor built into the mountainside not far from Claire City. Although crumbling, its interior was still vast, not something an ordinary noble could possess.
Lin Xing walked to a spot not far from this courtyard. Looking at the dilapidated yard, only sporadic lights shone inside, indicating its ruinous state and lack of prosperity.
Inside, a scene of decay met his eyes. Leaves swirled down in the autumn wind. A gust blew past, bringing a rustling sound. It was utterly desolate.
"Is this the place?" Lin Xing murmured, standing in the darkness not far from the courtyard. "It's well concealed."
He looked up, squinting to make out the plaque hanging in the courtyard. The lanterns on the gatehouse emitted a dim, yellowish light, swaying and flickering in the autumn breeze as if they might go out at any moment.
The characters on the plaque above the gate were long since illegible, all traces of its former glory gone. Everything appeared so dilapidated.
According to the intelligence from the Gathering Fortune Tower, this was the Divine Wind Sect's stronghold in Claire City! This rundown courtyard was actually a Divine Wind Sect stronghold!
Lin Xing slowly stepped out from the darkness, walking step by step towards the entrance of the dilapidated compound. Under the dim light at the gate, his shadow stretched long.
He slowly approached the main gate. Looking at the battered and weathered door, Lin Xing gave it a sharp kick. "Boom!" Instantly, the whole door flew off its hinges and backward with the force!
The sudden crash startled the people inside. "Who goes there? How dare you cause trouble here!" Suddenly, two men armed with blades jumped out, standing at the entrance to question Lin Xing.
"The one who will take your lives!" Lin Xing said coldly.
"You're dead!" The two men uttered this in unison, simultaneously raising their swords and slashing down.
"Hmph!" Lin Xing gave a light snort, not even bothering to dodge. Just as the blades were about to strike his head, he suddenly took a step forward! At the same time, his hands flew out like phantoms.
With their first slash missing, the two men sensed danger. With a loud roar, they tried to turn and deliver a second slash. But it was too late.
"Thump!" "Thump!" Two sounds rang out. The men immediately flew backward like discarded wadding, spitting out blood mid-air. With a "thud," they both landed simultaneously. They lay motionless, clearly dead.
He had killed two people in an instant!
Lin Xing continued inward. The surroundings seemed devoid of people, but he knew many were already near. He walked to the center of the courtyard.
Lin Xing sneered, "Still not daring to come out? Do I have to invite you?"
As soon as he finished, a large number of people emerged around him with a rustle—many dressed in black. Each held a weapon, watching him warily.
"So you finally show yourselves?" Lin Xing scoffed. "Now, die!"
"Hold on." A man who appeared to be their leader stepped forward.
Lin Xing glanced at him dismissively, not saying a word, directly ignoring him.
Seeing Lin Xing's contempt, this man was greatly angered, but he still needed to clarify the situation because of Lin Xing's strength and methods.
"Sir!" the man said, "May I ask why you have come here to cause trouble?"
"Oh, who are you?" Lin Xing countered.
"I am Takeuchi, the person in charge here!" Takeuchi said, suppressing his fury. If not for Lin Xing's strength, he would have already cut him down.
"I say, Takeuchi, you must be the Hall Master here, right? Hmm. I estimate if not for my strength making you cautious, you would have already chopped me down?" Looking at Takeuchi's furious face, Lin Xing voiced his inner thoughts.
Having his thoughts exposed, Takeuchi calmed down. "Sir, then who sent you?" Takeuchi still wanted to fish for information.
"Trying to fish for information?" Lin Xing smiled slightly. "Then I'll tell you who sent me."
Seeing Takeuchi's eager expression, Lin Xing sneered. "That person is—me!"
Takeuchi's face changed, immediately turning livid. Realizing he had been played, and seeing Lin Xing's demeanor, further talk was useless! He waved both hands, "Get him! Kill that brat!"
Upon hearing the command, the surrounding people immediately rushed forward. Some even began stealth techniques, attempting to assassinate Lin Xing while he was off guard!
"Stealth? Useless against me!" Lin Xing sneered, dodging a slash. At the same time, he slowly drew his own sword. With a backhand slash, he eliminated the person who had closed in.
A melee! Lin Xing wasn't frightened. He weaved through the crowd alone. With each sword strike, one person fell! In a short while, over a dozen were dead or injured!
Seeing this, Takeuchi's expression changed. He drew his sword and charged into the fray.
