Nine Suns Supreme Chapter 141: Changed Circumstances

"Boss, your home is in Tianjing City, right? So when will we get there?" Hei Hu asked, eyes wide.
"If we travel at full speed, we should be able to get there in a few months," Lin Xing replied casually.
"Hmm, that's so far. Boss, why don't we just fly back?" Hei Hu suggested.
"Idiot!" Xiao Hei burped and rapped Hei Hu on the head.
Ever since that day when Xiao Hei and the others became obsessed with alcohol, they could no longer live without it. Now, Lin Xing's spatial ring stored hundreds of jars of fine wine.
These were all for Xiao Hei and the other two to use. Lin Xing didn’t drink much usually, but he didn’t refuse alcohol either.
"Wouldn’t flying back be much faster? Walking is so slow now," Hei Hu said to Xiao Hei with a grievance. He didn’t understand why they didn’t choose a faster way to return. Wasn’t Lin Xing very anxious and eager to get back? Hei Hu shook his head, truly not understanding human thoughts—they were too complicated.
"Idiot, as soon as you fly in the sky, people will discover you’re a Ninth-level Magical Beast. Do you want to become famous or get surrounded and killed?" Xiao Hei gave Hei Hu a hard knock. However, Hei Hu’s words reminded Lin Xing: they couldn’t fly during the day, but what about at night? Couldn’t they rely on Hei Hu’s speed to fly back at night? Even if they were discovered, with Hei Hu’s speed, they should be able to shake off pursuers. Then there would be no risk of exposure.
Thinking of this, Lin Xing could no longer suppress his longing for home. He said to Hei Hu, "Hei Hu is right—let’s fly back at night. However, we’re not going back to Tianjing City first; we’ll go to another place first." As he thought this, a beautiful figure appeared in Lin Xing’s mind—that person was Caroline, his Caroline sister from back then.
"I wonder how you are now? We haven’t seen each other for years. I wonder if you still remember me, your Brother Gu Xing." Thinking of this, Lin Xing’s mood grew even more urgent. He missed Caroline terribly and was eager to see this girl who had always lingered in his heart.
And so, Lin Xing walked during the day and rode Hei Hu flying north at night. Of course, they didn’t do this every day; they still had to enjoy life when they could.
After all, the delicacies of the mortal world were still very tempting.
Elba Duchy, Elba City.
At the Jufu Restaurant, Lin Xing got a private room. After the wine and dishes were served, he slowly began to eat.
"Boss, why aren’t you going directly to see that… what’s her name, Ka-something-lin? Why come here instead?" Hei Hu grabbed a large piece of meat from some unknown magical beast and stuffed it into his big mouth, speaking indistinctly as he chewed. *What does mental communication have to do with your mouth?* Lin Xing wondered.
"Yeah, Lin Xing, we’re not far from that place now. Why not go directly to find her? Didn’t you want to see her as soon as possible?" Xiao Hei was also a bit puzzled. Lin Xing took a sip of wine, his eyes distant, and said, "Perhaps it’s like getting cold feet before returning home—the same principle. I really want to see her soon, but I’m afraid… what if I don’t find her, or if she has already forgotten me? That feeling…" He wanted to see her soon, but was also a bit afraid to see her—afraid of the outcome after finding her, afraid that the result might not be what he desired.
Xiao Hei gulped down a large mouthful of wine, glanced at Lin Xing with a puzzled look, then turned to Hei Hu, who was focused solely on eating. Finally, he shook his head and said, "Don’t understand. Don’t know what you mean. Humans! Smart, yes, but emotions are too complicated. It’s better being a Divine Beast—fewer emotions, fewer troubles to worry about."
Lin Xing shook his head. Talking to you two is like casting pearls before swine—you just wouldn’t understand.
Because Xiao Hei and Hei Hu had formed a contract with Lin Xing, they could sense some of his thoughts. But even though they sensed them, they couldn’t comprehend those feelings.
After all, they weren’t human. Human emotions are something even humans themselves can’t fully figure out, let alone two magical beasts.
Looking at the manor before him, it was still the same as it had been years ago. Even the color of the gate hadn’t faded a bit; nothing had changed.
At this moment, a mix of excitement and anticipation churned in Lin Xing’s chest—the thrill of an impending reunion.
He gently knocked on the main gate. The gate creaked open, and a head poked out. It wasn’t someone Lin Xing had seen before. Seeing Lin Xing, the person barked, "Who are you? What business do you have here?"
"Excuse me, is Miss Caroline here? I’m a friend of hers. I’m here to see her," Lin Xing said, unable to hide his excitement. Even his voice trembled slightly.
"You’re looking for our young lady? Who are you? Our young lady isn’t here." As he spoke, he started to close the gate, muttering, "People come looking for our young lady every day, all just trying to latch onto our family’s influence and make connections."
Lin Xing’s face darkened. He reached out and stopped the gate from closing. He stared coldly at the man and said, "I told you—I am Miss Caroline’s friend, not some random stranger!"
With the gate blocked, the man pushed with all his might, but it didn’t budge. His expression changed. "What, you want to force your way in? I warn you, this is Duke Albert’s estate! If you don’t leave, I’ll call the guards."
Lin Xing’s anger flared. Sensing his rage, Hei Hu, who was beside him, let out a roar and made as if to pounce.
Startled by the roar, the man’s face paled and he opened his mouth to shout, "Gu—" The cry was cut off as Lin Xing’s hand shot out, clamping around his throat. With a slight effort, he lifted the man off the ground. "I don’t want to repeat myself a third time. I’m asking you—is Caroline inside?" Lin Xing’s eyes were icy as he stared at the man.
The man with a livid face kept prying at Lin Xing's hand, desperately trying to wrench loose the grip on his neck. But Lin Xing's hand was like an iron clamp, squeezing his throat so tightly it didn't budge an inch.
Lin Xing loosened his grip slightly, allowing the man to speak.
The man gasped for air a few times, then stared at Lin Xing with a terrified expression. Lin Xing frowned and said, "Still don't want to talk?" As he spoke, his hand slowly began to tighten again. "No, I'll talk, I'll talk," the man cried out in fear, his earlier bluster completely gone.
"I'm new here. I've only been here for a year, but I really haven't seen Miss Caroline come here."
"Is that true?" Lin Xing glared, disappointment plain on his face.
"It's true, I really haven't seen the young lady. If you're looking for her, you should go to the master's house."
Lin Xing released his grip, and the man immediately fell to the ground.
Not finding Caroline, Lin Xing felt a hollow emptiness, as if his heart had been hollowed out.
"Hey Boss, that guy said to try somewhere else, right?" Hei Hu's voice echoed in Lin Xing's mind.
"Right, if she's not here, then Caroline's house it is."
