After killing Kari, Lin Xing retreated to the side. Now, the game had just begun.
Over at Yamazaki's side, seeing that Kari had not returned for a long time, Yamazaki frowned. "What's going on with Kari? Even relieving himself shouldn't take this long."
"Maybe he got snatched away by a magical beast," a follower of the Divine Wind Sect said.
After waiting for quite a while longer, Yamazaki clearly sensed that something was wrong. Could something have happened? He immediately said coldly, "You two, go over there and see what happened to Kari."
The two remaining followers of the Divine Wind Sect immediately stood up upon hearing the order and headed in the direction where Kari had left.
"Take your weapons with you," Yamazaki said coldly.
Watching them gradually approach the area near Kari's corpse, soon they would find Kari's already cold body. Lin Xing stared intently at these two Divine Wind Sect followers, like a hunter eyeing his prey.
As they walked, one of them grumbled under his breath, "That bastard Kari, even going to relieve himself and getting lost. Now I have to come find him. Being assigned here is already bad enough. Now I can't even rest properly without all this hassle."
The other one laughed and replied, "Missing the girls at the brothel outside again?"
The first man was taken aback for a moment, then looked at the other and chuckled lewdly.
"One at Sword Master level, and one at early Great Sword Master level. With my own strength and speed, a sneak attack should be able to take out one of them. But dealing with the remaining one would be troublesome," Lin Xing figured silently.
Slowly, the two passed in front of Lin Xing's hiding spot.
This was the moment! Lin Xing kicked off with his foot, and his entire body lunged out from his hiding spot. "Wind Break!" Lin Xing hissed, slashing toward the two men.
"Boom!" The two, caught off guard, were sent tumbling head over heels by Lin Xing's attack.
After the slash, Lin Xing paused for a moment, then darted forward. He threw a punch! With a "bang," it struck the Sword Master squarely in the chest.
"Ah!" A sharp, agonized scream rang out as the Sword Master was sent flying by Lin Xing. He was dead before he even hit the ground.
Then, Lin Xing's figure flickered and vanished into thin air. The Great Sword Master was only now catching up.
"What happened?" Yamazaki had already arrived on the scene. At the same time, the two mages from the Dark Church also rushed over. This was why Lin Xing had struck and fled immediately. Not wanting to reveal his identity, Lin Xing didn't want a direct confrontation yet.
"What's going on?" Seeing the Sword Master's corpse, Yamazaki frowned and asked the Great Sword Master.
"Sir," the Great Sword Master replied, his voice tense, "I'm not entirely sure either. When we arrived here, we suddenly felt someone ambushing us. After a loud explosion, I found him already dead."
"Oh! How many of them were there? Did you get a clear look at their faces?" Yamazaki asked.
"Only one," the Great Sword Master answered anxiously. "I didn't see their face clearly. That person killed him and then fled immediately," he said, pointing at the dead Sword Master.
Yamazaki nodded. "It seems someone is targeting us. We need to be more careful from now on. Let's head back." With that, he turned and started walking back.
"Sir, aren't we going to look for Kari?" the Great Sword Master asked, puzzled.
"Idiot! You fool!" Yamazaki turned around, his cold eyes fixed on the Great Sword Master. "He's dead. Do you think Kari could have survived? What an idiot," Yamazaki scolded mercilessly.
"Yes, sir!" The Great Sword Master lowered his head nervously, taking the scolding. He then followed Yamazaki back.
After killing the Sword Master, Lin Xing withdrew to a distance, observing Yamazaki and the others from afar. However, Yamazaki's group didn't conduct a search, much to Lin Xing's disappointment. He had originally planned to pick them off if they split up during a search, but now he could only wait for another opportunity.
In the following days, Lin Xing continued to shadow Yamazaki's group, but he never found an opening. The two from the Dark Church were inseparable all day long, and Yamazaki's group stayed together with them, giving Lin Xing no opening to strike.
Yamazaki also understood that someone was targeting their group. His guess was that the enemy was purposefully picking them off one by one when they were separated. Therefore, Yamazaki now insisted that everyone stay together. Otherwise, if something happened, they had only themselves to blame.
Among the four of them, Yamazaki's strength was clearly the highest. He had already reached the Saint Level. Not only had he recovered from the injuries of using the forbidden technique, but he had also made some progress.
A Saint-level Expert, a Great Sword Master, and two profoundly strange Dark Mages. This combination made Lin Xing wary of acting rashly. He knew Yamazaki's strength. Right now, he stood no chance against them. If he got surrounded by them, he probably wouldn't be able to escape.
After following them for several more days, Lin Xing still couldn't find an opportunity to strike. So, Lin Xing decided not to dwell on them any longer. He had important business here. Now, heading deeper inside to improve his own strength was the most important thing.
Lin Xing stopped tailing Yamazaki's group and went on his way alone once again.
Many days later, Lin Xing finally entered the domain of high-level magical beasts. Now, he was about halfway toward achieving his goal in coming here. The remaining half would be completed in the time to come.
Lying on a patch of grass, a random blade of grass in his mouth, Lin Xing gazed contentedly at the distant blue sky.
Suddenly, Lin Xing heard a volley of intense explosions coming from afar. It seemed a battle had broken out. He just didn't know if it was between humans or magical beasts.
Since entering the Magical Beast Forest, Lin Xing had seen magical beasts fighting every day, either over territory or other things. In short, battles between magical beasts were very frequent.
"Interesting. Might as well go take a look." Battles had always been one of Lin Xing's favorite things.
With a "whoosh," Lin Xing vanished from his spot, shooting toward the direction of the loud noises.
Gradually, he got closer and closer to where the battle was happening. The closer he got, the more astonished Lin Xing became!
Lin Xing's current location was clearly where the battle had just taken place, though it had since moved to another area.
Lin Xing casually scanned the area. The ground within dozens of meters looked as if it had been plowed over, full of pits and craters. The surrounding trees had been flattened, and some were even still burning.
And this scene extended all the way forward, forcibly carving a path through the dense forest.
What kind of battle could cause this? Lin Xing was somewhat shocked.
