The channeling and casting of magic are controlled entirely by one's mental power. It manipulates the magical elements to continuously gather, forming the magical skill conceived in one's mind.
If that's the case, then one should be able to both release and retract it. But how can one achieve such effortless control?
With a mental command, Lin Xing once again condensed an electric sphere in his hand. However, having learned his lesson, this sphere was no longer as large as before; it was now just a tiny speck. Lin Xing's consciousness observed the electric sphere in his hand. Inside the tiny sphere, numerous active, constantly jumping Thunder Elements were combined together.
With another thought, if that's how it is, then simply separate them and let them return to nature. That way, the magical effect would naturally dissipate. Focusing his will, Lin Xing's mental power spread out, forming countless points of mental energy that enveloped those Thunder Elements. Gradually, through communication and Lin Xing's persistent efforts, the electric sphere in his hand vanished, and the Thunder Elements returned to nature.
With another thought, an electric sphere reappeared in Lin Xing's hand, then suddenly dissipated. Simultaneously, Lin Xing realized that the Thunder Elements forming the sphere all came from within his own body. However, the moment the Thunder Elements left his body, the Thunder Elements in nature immediately surged in to fill the void left behind.
Lin Xing's heart leapt with joy. If that's how it works, does it mean his Thunder Elements are infinite? But there was one thing Lin Xing hadn't considered: this was just the beginning. An electric sphere didn't require many Thunder Elements, which is why the elements in nature could replenish them promptly. But what about when casting large-scale magic?
That would require an enormous quantity of magical elements. Whether they could be replenished in time would then be a problem.
When others cast magic, they need to first communicate with the magical elements in nature before they can use a skill. But for him, he directly mobilized Thunder Elements from within his body. This meant his casting speed would undoubtedly be greater than that of an ordinary mage. This would be even more advantageous in combat. Combined with his martial skills, he would be a Thunder Mage with the strength of a Saint-level warrior. Very good, very powerful.
Henceforth, he would present himself as a Thunder Mage. As a Thunder Mage, as long as he didn't encounter old acquaintances, no one would be the wiser about his martial arts.
This way, people would only think he was a Thunder Mage, unaware that he was also a warrior with Saint-level strength.
Thus, whether for survival or in battle, his safety would be greatly enhanced. Imagine this: he first confronts an enemy as a Thunder Mage, then takes advantage of their unpreparedness to engage in close-quarters combat! No one would expect a mage to also be an expert in close-quarters fighting. That would catch the enemy completely off guard.
However, he now needed to quickly improve his mage level. Although he could use Thunder Magic, he was still completely clueless about those magical skills. Directly mobilizing the magic from within his body could indeed form magic, but how to apply it to long-range attacks? That was a problem. But Lin Xing didn't dare experiment here now; a slight mistake could destroy the house.
A mage ought to have the look of a mage. Lin Xing went outside to buy some mage robes and also had a staff custom-made. A mage couldn't very well go into battle wielding a broadsword, could he? A few days later, the staff was finally ready. Lin Xing embedded an eighth-level magical beast core he obtained in the Magical Beast Forest onto it. This way, even if he displayed slightly stronger power later, he could use the excuse that it was due to the amplifying effect of this core.
Dressed in mage robes and holding a staff, Lin Xing now looked every bit the part of a noble mage.
"Electric Shock!" Lin Xing coldly shouted. Instantly, a lightning bolt as thick as a bucket appeared in front of him. With a "boom," it struck the ground, blasting a large crater. Lin Xing's lips moved silently a few times. "Lightning Net!" A net-like ring of lightning, composed of thunder and electricity, appeared around Lin Xing's body.
"Thunder Strike!"
"Thunderstorm!"
"Heavenly Thunder!"
Due to Lin Xing's exceptionally powerful mental strength, he could now summon advanced Thunder Magic spells. As for forbidden spells, Lin Xing didn't dare try them lightly. What are forbidden spells? They are spells that are prohibited from use. Using a forbidden spell would definitely produce very adverse side effects for the mage.
"Hei Hu, come here!" Lin Xing called out.
Hei Hu stood up from the side, rubbing his sleepy eyes. "Boss, what is it? I was sleeping soundly."
"Practice with me," Lin Xing said with a smile.
Hei Hu's expression changed, and he quickly shook his head. "Boss, spare me. Practicing with you is pure torture."
"It's fine, I'll only use magic, not martial skills. What's the matter? You're a Ninth-level Magical Beast after all; your courage can't be that small, can it?" Lin Xing goaded him. Lin Xing now wanted to use magic in actual combat, and Hei Hu was the best practice partner. As for Xiao Hei, forget it; Divine Beasts aren't something to be trifled with.
"Alright," Hei Hu could only agree helplessly. *Well, it's my own tough luck*, he thought.
"Then let's begin," Lin Xing silently chanted an incantation, pointed his staff at Hei Hu, and shouted, "Electric Shock!" A bolt of lightning materialized out of thin air and struck down at Hei Hu. Hei Hu flapped his wings, a black shadow flashed, and he dodged the lightning bolt, simultaneously pouncing towards Lin Xing.
Lin Xing cast "Lightning Net," "Thunder Speed," and "Thunder Illusion" on himself, increasing his speed and enhancing the power of his magic attacks.
Elementary magic was useless against Hei Hu, so he had to use intermediate or advanced magic.
"Thunder Strike!"
"Thunderstorm!"
"Heavenly Thunder!"
A series of Thunder attack spells were thrown at Hei Hu as if they cost nothing. At first, Hei Hu could still dodge them, but as Lin Xing became more and more proficient, Hei Hu began to get hit. "Heavenly Thunder!" Lin Xing shouted loudly. Instantly, a large area of heavenly thunder materialized in the sky above Hei Hu, rapidly striking down at him. Hei Hu's wings exerted force fiercely, trying to escape, but it was already too late.
"Boom!" Several lightning bolts struck Hei Hu's body. A jolt of electricity coursed through Hei Hu, instantly causing his whole body to go numb. All his fur stood on end. Hei Hu's body paused momentarily. But at that very moment, Lin Xing's second "Heavenly Thunder" had already struck down again.
"Boss, stop!" Hei Hu yelled desperately, exerting all his strength, but still couldn't completely avoid it. Instantly, all his fur stood on end once more. Lin Xing finally stopped. He was quite satisfied with his current level of proficiency.
