"Huh?" A surprised sound came from behind him. Lin Xing immediately turned to look.
He saw a tall, well-built male student standing behind him, slightly taller than himself, with a bright, cheerful face. The boy was staring at him in astonishment. Lin Xing was confused. It was clear this boy's surprise stemmed from seeing him or hearing him speak. However, Lin Xing searched his memory and found no trace of this person; he had never seen him before. He didn't know if this person recognized him, but judging by his expression, it seemed like he did.
"Are you Lone Star?" the person asked uncertainly.
Lin Xing nodded, looking at him with confusion, wondering how the other person knew him.
"Great!" When Lin Xing confirmed it, the boy's face lit up with excitement. He stepped forward, putting an arm around Lin Xing's shoulders. "This is great! You really are Lone Star. I saw your name over there just now and wasn't sure if it was you, but now I'm certain it is. Haha!" The boy even jumped for joy. Lin Xing felt a wave of bewilderment. This person seemed to genuinely know him, yet Lin Xing was sure he'd never met him. The confusion in his eyes deepened. Seemingly oblivious to Lin Xing's puzzled look, the boy continued, keeping his arm around Lin Xing's shoulders. "I can't believe we're in the same dorm! Haha, come on, let's head back. Do you have any luggage? I can help you."
Now Lin Xing understood a bit more. This person was apparently his dormmate. Clearly, when Lin Xing was getting his key, this boy was right behind him and overheard his conversation, learning they shared a dorm. But even so, Lin Xing still didn't recognize him. Why was he acting so familiar, like meeting an old friend? "You probably don't know the way to the dorm yet, right? Come on, I'll take you. I just went there, so I'm pretty familiar with the area. Plus, you're the second person in our dorm—at least, the second one I've seen." The boy started to lead Lin Xing towards the dorm.
But Lin Xing didn't move. He was still trying to figure out if he truly knew this person. He stood there, looking at the boy with confusion.
"Let's go! What's wrong? Not finished yet?" Seeing Lin Xing standing still, the boy asked.
Lin Xing shook his head. "Classmate, do we know each other?" Finally, after the boy's long speech, Lin Xing found an opportunity to voice his doubt.
Hearing Lin Xing's question, the boy awkwardly scratched his head and gave an embarrassed laugh. "Know each other? Of course we do!" Seeing his awkward demeanor, Lin Xing grew even more suspicious. Could this be a tactic from some nobles? Pretending to know him to strike up a conversation and then try to recruit him?
Lin Xing was aware that the strength he displayed during the test had already attracted the attention of various factions. It was likely someone was already trying to recruit him, and this person before him might be one of them.
Thinking this, Lin Xing's eyes turned cold. He said indifferently, "But I don't know you."
The boy gave an awkward smile. "Well, we know each other now, don't we? It's fine, we can consider ourselves acquainted now."
Seeing Lin Xing's cold expression, the boy was taken aback for a moment but quickly understood. He smiled wryly. "You don't think I'm from one of those noble factions, do you?" Lin Xing glanced at him. "Aren't you?"
The boy hurriedly replied, "Brother, of course I'm not one of them." In just a short while, he had already changed his address to 'brother'. "If you think I'm one of those people, you've really misunderstood me. I am genuinely a student in this year's Magic Class Two, and I am your dormmate."
Lin Xing glanced at him again. "Then how do you know me?" The look of suspicion still hadn't faded.
"Oh, I see." The boy let out a sigh of relief. "Lone Star, you have no idea how much attention you garnered on the test day. After you left, no one else came close to your performance. You can't imagine how envious everyone was. Judging by your current display, you're destined for great achievements in the future." His tone carried a hint of admiration. "That's when I got to know about you and learned your name. Don't be surprised you haven't seen me; I was just in the crowd at the time."
Hearing this explanation, Lin Xing felt relieved. There were so many people in the hall; Lin Xing really hadn't noticed this person's presence. Even if he had seen him, he wouldn't have had any impression. "So, you believe me now?" The boy finished his explanation in one go and asked Lin Xing.
Lin Xing nodded, though he wasn't entirely convinced. After all, with so many people present at the time, who knew if this person genuinely approached him now because of that chance encounter or if he had ulterior motives.
Seeing Lin Xing starting to believe him, the boy was visibly pleased. Suddenly, he slapped his own forehead. "We've been talking for so long, and you still don't know my name, right? I'm Xu Feng, from the Kingdom of Clark. My family are minor nobles, nothing worth mentioning."
"By the way, Lone Star, which country are you from?" Xu Feng asked curiously.
"The Huaxia Empire," Lin Xing replied.
"One of the Four Empires, the Huaxia Empire? I've never been there; it's a bit far from my country. I heard your capital, Tianjing City, is one of the four great cities on the continent. It must be very lively there, right?" A gleam of excitement appeared in Xu Feng's eyes.
Lin Xing nodded. "It is very lively."
"I must go see it someday. Come on, let me take you to the dorm. You definitely don't know the way, right?" Xu Feng said.
Lin Xing hesitated for a moment. He truly didn't know the way. If he went alone, he'd have to ask for directions. But now it wasn't necessary since Xu Feng was leading, and they were dormmates. So, Lin Xing let Xu Feng lead the way to the dorm. However, the Half-Moon Academy was indeed vast; they walked for a long time and still hadn't reached the dormitory.
Along the way, Lin Xing and Xu Feng chatted, gradually becoming more familiar. Lin Xing learned some things about Xu Feng, but he didn't share much about himself because he was using the identity of Lone Star. There wasn't much to say.
