Chapter 073 【Organization】
by 我本瘋狂"Jia Ying, I don't like Chen Minjun." After a moment's thought, Gu Feng glanced at Lin Jiaying's bedroom, saw that the light was still on, then walked to her door, said his piece, and headed straight to his own room without waiting for a reply.
In her bedroom, Lin Jiaying had been resting her chin in her hands, staring blankly. Startled by Gu Feng's words, her beautiful autumn eyes began to dart around, lost in thought. Her cherry lips slightly pursed, revealing a faint, almost imperceptible smile—one she herself didn't even realize she was wearing.
Back in his room, Gu Feng didn't go straight to bed as usual. Instead, he took out his phone and dialed a number.
The call connected quickly, and an authoritative voice came through the receiver: "Who is this?"
"Sir, it's me," Gu Feng replied calmly.
"Gu Feng?" The voice on the other end paused briefly, then sounded surprised. "Kid, why are you calling me? I heard your old man shipped you off to Hong Kong?"
"Yes," Gu Feng answered, his face clouding over as if something had crossed his mind.
Sensing the shift in Gu Feng's tone, the person on the phone sighed. "I know you only listened to your old man for Monkey's sake. But you can rest easy now—Monkey's out of the woods."
"Where did Monkey go?" At the mention of Monkey, Gu Feng's heart lurched, and he couldn't help but ask.
"I'm not too sure about that," the voice continued. "But I heard that when Monkey left, your old man prepared some money for him, though he didn't take it."
"Oh." Gu Feng wasn't surprised by this.
"How are you holding up over there?" The person on the phone seemed to deliberately change the subject.
"Not bad," Gu Feng replied mechanically, his mind elsewhere.
"Kid, you didn't call me today just to ask about Monkey, did you? Out with it—what do you need from this old man?" The person on the phone seemed to understand Gu Feng well.
The question pulled Gu Feng back from his memories. He adjusted his emotions and quickly asked, "What's the organization's view on the Hong Kong underworld?"
"Why are you asking about this out of the blue?" The voice sounded puzzled. "Did some idiots offend you?"
"Yes," Gu Feng didn't deny it.
"If the Hong Kong triads offended you, why come to me? You don't report to me anymore," the person complained. "Call your old man. With his temper, those idiots would be finished one by one!"
"Sir, you know that would be abuse of power for personal reasons. I don't want to cause trouble for him," Gu Feng said seriously.
"Ah," the person on the phone chuckled wryly. "If your old man heard you say that, he'd probably laugh for three days straight. You have no idea—he's always complaining to us about what an ungrateful son you are..."
After a moment of reflection, the person continued, "You're in luck. The organization has been very dissatisfied with the situation over there lately and is trying to figure out what to do. But Hong Kong is complicated, different from the mainland, so no decision has been made yet."
Gu Feng knew this, which was why he had repeatedly stopped Qiao Gang from taking action.
"By the way, kid, you didn't call me because you're interested in this matter, did you?" The person on the phone seemed to have thought of something, sounding quite excited.
"Sir, if possible, I'm willing to take on this mission," Gu Feng replied straightforwardly.
"Good!" The person sounded excited but then grew concerned. "But you'll have to personally convince your old man. Last time, when we tried to get you back for a blind date, your old man threw a fit at us old-timers. I'm afraid if I let you take this mission, he'll blow up. You know his temper."
"Sir, you know what the outcome of discussing it with him would be," Gu Feng said helplessly. "Please rest assured, I'll handle this properly and won't let my old man's anger affect your relationship."
"Alright." After a few seconds of thought, the person adopted a serious tone. "But I must remind you—that Qiao kid is also in Hong Kong. You know his temper better than I do. So, no matter what, don't let him get involved in this. I'm sure you understand the stakes."
"Orders received!" Gu Feng said firmly.
"Then wait for my news. I'll report this tomorrow," the person said before hanging up.
Recalling the promise from the person on the phone, the sliver of worry in Gu Feng's heart vanished completely. The Xiang family had been entrenched in Hong Kong for decades, with formidable influence. But once the organization decided to bring down the axe on the Xiang family, no one could save them.
...
The next day, Lin Jiaying was no longer as sad as she had been the day before and had returned to normal.
This put Gu Feng's mind at ease, and he temporarily gave up on testing Lin Jiaying.
During the morning activity period, Gu Feng, led by Ling Wei, arrived at the Taekwondo club's training area.
The Taekwondo hall was on the third floor of the school gymnasium—a large hall of over 400 square meters.
When Gu Feng and Ling Wei arrived, about a dozen students in Taekwondo uniforms were training inside. A green mat lay in the center of the hall, with many training facilities placed near the walls.
Some students, barefoot on the mat, were sparring with each other, imitating South Koreans by shouting "Hah!" during attacks to boost their momentum.
Gu Feng frowned slightly at this.
In Gu Feng's view, while Taekwondo pales in comparison to real combat Kung Fu and is more of a performance-based martial art, and though many in China learn it to follow trends, there was no need to imitate the Korean style of shouting during sparring.
With just a casual glance, Gu Feng could tell these students were all show, no substance. They wouldn't stand a chance against Ling Wei, let alone Xu Qiang. Xu Qiang's street fighting skills were forged in real fights, while the moves these students learned were mostly flashy but impractical.
Especially one guy performing a "roundhouse kick"—not only was the power lacking, but the speed was painfully slow. In a real fight against someone with even basic combat skills, his fate would be sealed.
"Teacher Gu, that's Zheng Jian," Ling Wei pointed to a student lifting dumbbells by the side of the hall.
Following Ling Wei's direction, Gu Feng saw a guy about 1.8 meters tall, muscular and strong, with slightly long hair and bangs covering his eyes, making his gaze unreadable.
His dumbbell lifts looked effortless, indicating good strength and explosive power. Moreover, from his stance, Gu Feng could tell he had a solid stance.
As Gu Feng observed him, Zheng Jian, with sharp reflexes, immediately looked up and met Gu Feng's gaze. Seeing Ling Wei beside Gu Feng, Zheng Jian instinctively put down the dumbbells and sneered, "What? Ling Wei, still not over losing to me last time? Here to get even?"
Zheng Jian's voice was rough and loud. As soon as he spoke, the other Taekwondo students nearby stopped training and glared at Ling Wei with hostility.
P: I had to go out yesterday and today, so I didn't update on time. My apologies. Now updating today's two chapters.
