Chapter 050 【Domineering Man】
by 我本瘋狂Seeing Gu Feng look up at her, Lin Jiaying quickly pulled her head back, her beautiful face etched with anger, her delicate brows tightly knit together, seething with rage.
"Hmph! He swore up and down he wasn't out with other women, yet he comes back this late in a woman's car—as if!" Lin Jiaying muttered to herself, then returned to the living room and sat on the sofa.
A few minutes later, Gu Feng opened the door and walked in.
He saw Lin Jiaying's expression icy and forbidding; she didn't even glance at him when he returned.
"Why are you still up so late?" Gu Feng asked while changing into his slippers.
Lin Jiaying snorted coldly and didn't answer. As Gu Feng's fiancée, Lin Jiaying and Gu Feng had a relationship in name only, without genuine affection. She wasn't particularly bothered by Gu Feng's running around outside—it was more like a young girl's jealousy. What angered her was that Gu Feng had lied to her.
Seeing Lin Jiaying remain silent, Gu Feng seemed to understand something but offered no explanation. Instead, he slowly made himself a cup of tea and said, "You should go to sleep."
Lin Jiaying had expected Gu Feng to explain on his own. Seeing his indifferent expression now, she grew even more furious and snapped, "Gu Feng, you're being completely unreasonable!"
Hearing Lin Jiaying's angry words, Gu Feng's expression didn't change at all; he simply held the teacup in his hand.
"Gu Feng, if you're a real man, go tell my family and yours to cancel this engagement!" Seeing Gu Feng still silent, Lin Jiaying got really worked up.
Gu Feng glanced at Lin Jiaying calmly and shook his head. "No."
"You... you country bumpkin, you're shameless!" Lin Jiaying stood up angrily, looking utterly wronged.
"Go to sleep. You have classes tomorrow," Gu Feng said, his expression somewhat complicated as he changed the subject.
Did he have his own reasons?
Seeing the complexity in Gu Feng's eyes, Lin Jiaying softened a bit and asked, "Then what do you want?"
"There's really no need for you to get angry. You look down on me, this country bumpkin, so why upset yourself?" Gu Feng said lightly. "Alright, it's getting late. Go to bed."
Gu Feng's words stunned Lin Jiaying into silence. Her lips parted slightly, but she didn't know what to say, just staring blankly at Gu Feng. She had to admit that what Gu Feng said was true. Although he had risked going to jail to save her that day, she hadn't fallen in love with him because of it—all she felt was gratitude.
In her heart, Gu Feng was still that country bumpkin, Gu Feng, and could never become her Prince Charming.
"Fine, from now on, don't meddle in my affairs, and I won't meddle in yours either," Lin Jiaying said, tossing out this childish remark before storming into her bedroom without waiting for Gu Feng's reply.
Gu Feng sat quietly on the sofa, staring into the teacup in his hand.
After sitting there blankly for two hours, Gu Feng got up and went to his bedroom to rest.
In the morning, as usual, Gu Feng had breakfast ready before Lin Jiaying got up.
When Lin Jiaying emerged from her bedroom, Gu Feng noticed she looked pale, and her eyes were lifeless.
"Cough, cough..." Lin Jiaying bent over, coughing violently a few times, and was about to head into the bathroom.
"Wait," Gu Feng put down the milk in his hand, frowning as he walked toward Lin Jiaying.
Lin Jiaying glanced at Gu Feng weakly and said feebly, "What?"
Gu Feng didn't answer her question. Instead, he walked directly to her side and reached out to feel her forehead.
Lin Jiaying's expression changed slightly, and she instinctively moved her head away. However, Gu Feng seemed to anticipate this and placed a hand firmly on her shoulder, preventing her from struggling.
"You..." Lin Jiaying frowned, glaring at Gu Feng as if to say something, but Gu Feng cut her off: "You have a fever. I'll call your mom in a bit to ask for leave for you, then take you to the hospital."
"My affairs are none of your business," Lin Jiaying said, irritated by Gu Feng's commanding tone.
But Gu Feng ignored her, walking straight to the glass table in the living room, picking up his phone, and preparing to make a call.
"I have all major classes this morning. Missing them will set me back," Lin Jiaying said, seeing Gu Feng determined to call, and had to give a reason. "I can't go to the hospital."
"Request denied!" Gu Feng said sternly. "Your temperature is over 39 degrees, and your mental state is terrible. Going to class would be a waste of time."
As a top student in the elite class of Zifeng High School, Lin Jiaying had always excelled academically. She naturally knew that studying wasn't about how long you spent but about efficiency—meaning Gu Feng wasn't wrong.
But seeing Gu Feng's stern face, she simply didn't want to do as he said. "This is my own business."
"Hello, Aunt Xu, Jia Ying is sick. She won't be going this morning. I'll take her to the hospital for an IV," Gu Feng said, completely ignoring Lin Jiaying as he dialed Xu Qin's number.
On the other end, Xu Qin, hearing that Lin Jiaying was sick, grew worried. "Xiao Gu, is Jia Ying seriously ill? Should I come with you?"
"No need, Aunt Xu. I'll take her. That's all for now. I'll hang up," Gu Feng said, ending the call.
Lin Jiaying stared in disbelief as Gu Feng hung up, trembling with anger. "Gu Feng, you're too overbearing!"
Gu Feng didn't respond. Instead, he walked directly to Lin Jiaying, grabbed her hand, and said, "You're burning up. Let's go to the hospital first. No need to wash your face."
For girls, you can deny them food, but you can't deny them washing their face—especially teenage girls, who pay extra attention to their appearance and spend no small amount of time on makeup and grooming each day.
Lin Jiaying tried to yank her arm away but couldn't break free from Gu Feng's grip. She fumed, "Gu Feng, my affairs really are none of your business!"
"Nonsense!" Gu Feng's expression darkened slightly. Without another word, he scooped Lin Jiaying up and headed straight for the door.
Lin Jiaying felt a wave of grievance, pounding Gu Feng's body with her fists for all she was worth. Gu Feng, afraid she'd hurt her hands, relaxed his body. Even so, he was still solid muscle.
Lin Jiaying, already weakened by her illness, soon ran out of energy from hitting him. In desperation, she grabbed Gu Feng's shoulder and bit down.
Afraid of damaging Lin Jiaying's teeth, Gu Feng endured the pain in his shoulder without moving. By the time she let go, Gu Feng had already carried her downstairs.
With more people outside, Lin Jiaying stopped making a scene. Gu Feng set her down, hailed a taxi, and headed straight for the hospital.
