Chapter 100 【Provocation】
by 我本瘋狂Why is the light on again?
Xia Wei stared at the office, puzzled, her eyes darting around.
Could there really be a thief up there?
The thought flashed through her mind again—but she immediately shook her head to dismiss it.
After all, if there truly were a thief up there, no sane thief would turn the light back on!
Maybe a teacher had gone to the restroom earlier?
There was no restroom in the office; one had to use the one in the hallway.
At that thought, Xia Wei relaxed. She looked away, glanced toward the brightly lit football field in the distance, and quickened her pace.
She knew Lin Jiaying’s performance was about to begin. As homeroom teacher, it was her duty to lead the entire class in cheering for Lin Jiaying!
A few minutes later, Zhou Tong—wearing a formal dress—emerged from the office.
Perhaps due to the intense activity earlier, her cheeks were flushed, as red as Turpan grapes from Xinjiang.
Gu Feng had been racking his brain over how to explain things to Zhou Tong. Seeing her step out, his train of thought ground to a halt.
Catching Gu Feng’s gaze, Zhou Tong quickly lowered her head and murmured, “Let’s go—the performance is probably about to start.”
Though this was Zhou Tong’s first time encountering such a situation, she understood these matters better than Gu Feng did. She knew he’d likely want to explain something to her now.
But how could he possibly explain what had just happened?
Like dry wood meeting a blazing fire?!
“Alright.” Gu Feng wasn’t an idiot either. Hearing Zhou Tong’s words, he realized she didn’t want to revisit what had just occurred—so naturally, he wouldn’t bring it up either.
Instantly, the two fell into single file and headed toward the stairwell.
Compared to when they’d first arrived, there was now a noticeable distance between them as they walked…
Yet, had what happened earlier actually taken place, perhaps everything would be entirely different.
As Gu Feng and Zhou Tong approached the football field, students surrounding it erupted into waves of enthusiastic applause. Most even stood up, cheering loudly for something—making the atmosphere far more electrifying than before.
Hearing the overwhelming cheers and applause from the field, both instinctively turned their gaze toward the stage at the center of the football field.
On stage stood three boys dressed in edgy, unconventional outfits—and one girl with an outstanding figure!
At that moment, the girl with the striking figure stood front and center, gripping the microphone with both hands, stomping her feet while belting out the song. The three boys each had distinct roles: one played guitar, another bass, and the third drummed!
“Maria!”
Her clear, resonant voice echoed across the football field. Combined with her wild, energetic movements, she instantly propelled the atmosphere to an unprecedented high!
“South Koreans?” Zhou Tong glanced at the performers onstage and, judging by their attire, immediately identified them as Korean. She also recognized the song—it was the theme from a popular Korean film. With evident surprise, she asked, “Gu Feng, does your school have Korean students?”
“No.” With their attention redirected, both seemed to have forgotten the earlier incident—not only had their tone returned to normal, but they’d even begun making eye contact again. “Those Korean students are from a prestigious university in Korea. They’re special guests invited for Zifeng Middle School’s 20th Anniversary Celebration.”
“Oh, I see.” Zhou Tong smiled and said, “That girl’s singing and stage presence are both quite impressive.”
Gu Feng nodded silently, then turned his gaze backstage, searching for Lin Jiaying.
Standing at the stage entrance, Lin Jiaying had already changed into her performance outfit.
At that moment, her hands were clenched tightly against her chest. Her eyes were locked intently on the Korean girl singing onstage—her expression taut with palpable tension!
Originally, Lin Jiaying had already felt somewhat nervous about performing. Now, the Korean girl’s exceptional performance added immense pressure. Her heart pounded far faster than usual—and her legs even trembled slightly.
For a moment, she felt the urge to abandon her performance altogether!
Just then, the teacher overseeing the cultural show approached Lin Jiaying and said with a smile, “Jiaying, get ready—the Korean students will wrap up soon. Your act is next.”
Lin Jiaying nodded blankly, beads of nervous sweat appearing on her forehead.
About half a minute later, the Korean students exited the stage amid thunderous applause.
As they left, the crowd went wild—shouting, cheering, and some unruly students even whistling.
For a moment, shouts and whistles filled the entire venue!
“Quiet down, everyone! Please settle down!” The host strode onto the stage, speaking into the microphone with one hand while gesturing for silence with the other.
Yet the Korean girl had sung exceptionally well—and she was stunningly beautiful. Most male students in the audience had gone completely wild; calming them down immediately proved difficult.
Accompanied by the three Korean boys, the Korean girl made her way backstage.
Listening to the audience’s screams, one of the boys smiled and said, “Li Zhenzi, your charm is simply overwhelming!”
“Of course!” Li Zhenzi proudly lifted her chin—then spotted Lin Jiaying preparing to go onstage and instinctively walked over.
“Hey.” She patted Lin Jiaying’s shoulder.
“What is it?” Lin Jiaying turned—and seeing the Korean girl who’d just performed, couldn’t help but flinch.
“I heard you’re the worst singer among all today’s performers?” Li Zhenzi gazed at Lin Jiaying arrogantly. “I suggest you wait a bit longer before going onstage. Don’t ruin the atmosphere!”
Li Zhenzi had studied Chinese before. Though her pronunciation wasn’t perfect, Lin Jiaying understood her clearly.
Li Zhenzi’s words left Lin Jiaying stunned—and deeply upset. For this cultural performance, her act had been considered one of the main highlights. How could Li Zhenzi call it the worst?
Gazing at Li Zhenzi and the other three Korean students’ haughty expressions, Lin Jiaying felt only a surge of grievance well up inside her.
“Jiaying, you actually sing quite well already.”
At that moment, Gu Feng’s words suddenly echoed in Lin Jiaying’s mind—lifting her spirits slightly from their low point. She forced a smile at Li Zhenzi and said, “Thank you for the reminder.”
As Lin Jiaying spoke, guided by the host, the students gradually quieted down.
“Next up: Lin Jiaying from Class 4-1 will perform ‘Angel,’ a song by Zhou Tong.” Seeing the venue had settled, the host immediately announced Lin Jiaying’s act.
“Don’t embarrass the Chinese people!” Li Zhenzi shot Zhou Tong a disdainful smile—then strode into the dressing room under the admiring gazes of the three Korean boys.
Meanwhile, amidst the audience’s cheers, Lin Jiaying stepped onto the stage—her heart pounding with nerves.
