Chapter 072 【Lin Jiaying’s Feelings】
by 我本瘋狂After leaving the school gates, Gu Feng cautiously scanned his surroundings but found no signs of danger.
Immediately afterward, he clearly saw Lin Jiaying walk out of the school gate, looking clearly upset.
Seeing Lin Jiaying's distressed look, Gu Feng couldn't help but frown and wonder to himself, "Is this girl being bullied?"
Though he wondered this, Gu Feng didn't call out to Lin Jiaying. He didn't want the students of Zifeng Middle School to know about his relationship with her, as he understood that once their relationship was exposed, Lin Jiaying wouldn't be able to stay at the school, and even Xu Qin would be put in a difficult position.
Lin Jiaying also saw Gu Feng but didn't look directly at him. Instead, she quickly hailed a taxi and left.
Seeing Lin Jiaying get into the taxi, Gu Feng also flagged down a car and said to the driver, "Follow that car ahead."
Upon hearing Gu Feng's words, the driver was slightly startled and instinctively glanced at him before starting the car.
The journey was uneventful. When the taxi arrived at the Mingzhu Apartments, Gu Feng didn't get out immediately. Instead, he watched as Lin Jiaying entered the building before getting out of the car.
Back home, Gu Feng noticed that the door to Lin Jiaying's bedroom was tightly shut.
After a moment of thought, Gu Feng didn't immediately go to ask Lin Jiaying why she was upset. Instead, he took off his coat and headed straight to the kitchen to prepare dinner.
Half an hour later, after finishing the meal, Gu Feng went to Lin Jiaying's bedroom door and knocked, saying, "Jiaying, dinner is ready."
"I'm not eating," Lin Jiaying's voice sounded unusual.
Hearing her response, Gu Feng frowned and tried the doorknob, which opened with a click.
Inside the room, Lin Jiaying was lying on the bed, her head buried under the blanket, quietly sobbing.
Hearing the door open, she suddenly looked up, her eyes red and filled with anger, and said, "Get out! Who said you could come in!"
Gu Feng hadn't expected Lin Jiaying to be so angry, and it only made him more curious about what had happened to her.
After a moment of hesitation, Gu Feng didn't leave. Instead, he walked toward Lin Jiaying.
"This is my room! I told you to get out!" Tears streaked Lin Jiaying's face, her expression full of sorrow.
"What's wrong? Are you feeling upset?" Gu Feng walked up to Lin Jiaying and asked gently, reaching out to stroke her head.
Lin Jiaying dodged with a look of disgust and said, "Get out!" As she spoke, tears uncontrollably welled up in her eyes, her expression utterly heartbroken.
Seeing Lin Jiaying's sorrowful state, Gu Feng felt a pang of discomfort in his heart. He stood there, trying hard to think of how he might have offended her, but he couldn't recall any instance where he had.
Moreover, Gu Feng could tell that this time, Lin Jiaying wasn't just throwing a tantrum—she was genuinely heartbroken.
"Jiaying, what's really wrong?" Gu Feng asked again.
Seeing that Gu Feng still hadn't left, Lin Jiaying stood up crying, clenched her fists, and began pounding them against Gu Feng's chest repeatedly, while tears streamed from her eyes like broken pearls.
Gu Feng relaxed his body, allowing Lin Jiaying's fists to land on him. After she had vented her anger, he gently wiped the tears from her face.
This time, Lin Jiaying didn't dodge. She opened her beautiful eyes wide and stared intently at Gu Feng, as if trying to see through him. In his eyes, she caught a glimpse of concern and care.
Gu Feng cupped Lin Jiaying's chin, leaned down, and looked at her, saying, "Jiaying, tell me what's bothering you. I'll help you solve it."
Hearing Gu Feng's words, Lin Jiaying cried even harder!
Earlier, on her way home, she had tried to comfort herself by insisting she didn't like Gu Feng. However, Gu Feng's presence had unknowingly left a clear mark in her mind and heart, a mark she couldn't erase no matter how hard she tried.
And whenever she recalled the intimate scene between Gu Feng and Chen Minjun at the school gate earlier, her heart felt as if it were being cut by a knife—sharp and painful. After returning home, Gu Feng's act of pretending not to know what was wrong only fueled her anger, making her lash out at him uncontrollably.
But... at this moment, the concern and care in Gu Feng's eyes made her anger vanish without a trace.
At the same time, her heart ached even more. She couldn't understand why Gu Feng, who cared for her so much, would also like Chen Minjun.
"Do you like Sister Minjun?" Lin Jiaying held back her tears and mustered the courage to ask.
Hearing Lin Jiaying's question and seeing her teary, glistening eyes, Gu Feng was momentarily stunned.
Was Lin Jiaying upset because of this? The thought seemed absurd to Gu Feng, and for a moment, he didn't answer her question.
Seeing Gu Feng remain silent, Lin Jiaying instinctively assumed he was admitting it.
Just as Gu Feng was about to shake his head and deny it, Lin Jiaying wiped the tears from her face and said, "Sister Minjun is a good person. You should treat her well." As she spoke these words, Lin Jiaying felt as if a heavy weight were pressing on her chest, making it almost impossible to breathe.
"Jiaying, who told you I like Chen Minjun?" Gu Feng felt both helpless and curious. "And are you upset because of this?"
"No," Lin Jiaying shook her head frantically, but her voice trembled slightly. "It's because of Wang Jingjing."
Hearing this, Gu Feng recalled what Wang Jingjing had said during the concert. He wiped the tears from Lin Jiaying's face again and said, "Jiaying, Wang Jingjing isn't worth your genuine friendship, and she certainly isn't worth your tears."
What Gu Feng didn't know was that Wang Jingjing had indeed had a minor conflict with Lin Jiaying that afternoon, but Lin Jiaying's sorrow wasn't because of Wang Jingjing.
Perhaps to hide her true feelings, Lin Jiaying nodded lightly and forced a smile, saying, "Let's go eat."
Gu Feng vaguely sensed something off about Lin Jiaying's words but couldn't pinpoint what it was, so he nodded.
Perhaps due to her low spirits, Lin Jiaying only took a few bites of food before returning to her bedroom.
Seeing Lin Jiaying looking preoccupied, Gu Feng couldn't help but wonder, "Could it be that Jiaying has feelings for me?"
This "absurd" thought was something even Gu Feng found hard to believe. He replayed the earlier events in his mind from start to finish and then fell into deep thought.
P: Something came up today, so the second chapter is updated early.
