Chapter 90 Meeting an Old Acquaintance (Part 2)
by 骑着蜗牛去旅行Chapter 90: Encountering an Old Acquaintance (Part 1)
Oxi City was an ancient town—a small city. Yet beneath its unassuming exterior lay a branch hall of the Divine Wind Sect!
Three months had passed since Lin Xing destroyed the Divine Wind Sect’s Gary Branch Hall. During this time, he had not rested, successively dismantling two other sect halls. Though smaller in scale, they remained legitimate outposts of the Divine Wind Sect.
Lin Xing surmised the sect’s higher-ups must now be furious! Having several of their halls demolished consecutively, outrage was inevitable!
According to intelligence gathered from the Jufu Inn, the Divine Wind Sect’s Oxi City branch was relatively large and teeming with experts—and critically, it lay very close to Bage Country.
Lin Xing had been in Oxi City for three days. During this period, he took no action—merely staying within the city to acclimate to the environment and gather intelligence on the Divine Wind Sect’s Oxi Branch Hall.
Based on the information collected, Lin Xing gained a rough understanding of the internal situation: indeed a sizable hall, housing one mid-tier Saint-level expert and several Great Sword Masters.
Yet Lin Xing felt no fear confronting these forces. Though the mid-tier Saint-level expert might pose a challenge, Lin Xing was confident he could kill him—albeit requiring slightly more time.
Over the past few days, Lin Xing had relaxed. In previous months, he had traveled constantly, leaving little opportunity to truly absorb the continent’s scenery. Now that he fully understood the layout and strength of the Divine Wind Sect’s Oxi Branch Hall, he simply waited for the optimal moment to strike—in just a few days’ time.
A few days later—midnight.
A figure shot forth from Oxi City, silently vaulting over the city wall. Like a phantom, he sped eastward.
It was Lin Xing. The Divine Wind Sect’s hall in Oxi lay ten miles east of the city—an independent manor, private property of the sect!
It was an estate where a sect member posed as a noble in public.
Under the endless starry sky, a shadow flew across like a wraith, lightly yet swiftly clearing the manor’s wall and gliding into the compound.
Holding his breath and focusing intently, Lin Xing evaded patrolling guards. His figure flickered as he drifted across the courtyard, arriving outside the inner buildings and vanishing into darkness.
His plan: eliminate their Hall Master-level expert first—to prevent escape later.
“Hmm?” Lin Xing’s expression shifted abruptly. He sensed several additional experts inside! In fact, there were *three* Saint-level experts—all mid-tier!
Had they only arrived in the past few days? Lin Xing pondered briefly, then understood: he’d been heading south, systematically destroying Divine Wind Sect halls along this route. The sect’s members weren’t fools—they were likely lying in wait, expecting him to take the bait.
Lin Xing’s figure flashed as he pressed himself against the building’s wall and scaled upward. Voices echoed from within—and one sounded familiar. Listening closely, Lin Xing recognized it: Akas—his old acquaintance.
Indeed, Akas and the others had only arrived here yesterday.
Three mid-tier Saint-level experts. Neither Akas nor the elderly man appeared weak. By comparison, the third elder—the local Hall Master—seemed marginally weaker. Three opponents! Lin Xing assessed whether he possessed the confidence to kill them—or even to escape!
After careful analysis, based on his current strength, so long as he avoided serious injury, he could almost certainly escape. Still, eliminating one of them first would be ideal—even if killing proved impossible, at least incapacitating one was essential!
Regulating his breathing and circulating his internal Zhen Qi, Lin Xing targeted the seemingly weakest among the three. Pressing both palms against the wall, he unleashed his Zhen Qi—*BOOM!* A massive hole exploded outward, sending shards of stone flying in all directions. Even as the shockwave reverberated, Lin Xing had already shot through the breach—blade drawn, slashing straight toward that elder.
The sudden explosion startled the three inside. Before the echo faded, Akas—who sat directly opposite the wall—saw a dark silhouette lunging down.
“Watch out!” Akas roared, leaping up and driving a punch toward the shadow.
“Seeking death!” Lin Xing snarled coldly. Instantly, he bellowed, “Wind Break!”—his ferocious Zhen Qi erupting as he slashed forward!
*CRACK!* Akas was struck head-on—slammed violently into the ground! Simultaneously, Lin Xing surged onward toward the elder.
“Watch out!” The Ninth Guardian, Bob, seized his blade and swung at Lin Xing, aiming to relieve the pressure!
But it was already too late. Lin Xing had shattered the wall, then smashed Akas aside—all in one instant. Hastily, the elder gripped his blade with both hands and launched a desperate, full-force slash at Lin Xing!
*CLANG!* Their weapons collided with explosive force. The elder was hurled backward—smashed into the floor! At once, he opened his mouth and spat a gout of blood! Fortunately, he wasn’t Akas—if it *had* been Akas, Lin Xing’s slash might not have inflicted such grievous damage.
After spitting that blood, the elder endured the searing agony within his body, leapt upright, immediately withdrew from the battlefield, sat cross-legged on the spot, and began recovering! Lin Xing lunged to finish him—but helplessly, Bob’s blade was already descending! Pushing off the ground with both feet, Lin Xing shot forward—barely evading the strike.
Akas and Bob exchanged a glance, then sprang apart—forming a protective perimeter around the recovering elder. Outside, the deafening explosion had already drawn a crowd—lights flared brilliantly, and several Great Sword Masters had surrounded the building.
Seeing this, Lin Xing couldn’t help but curse inwardly. With so many experts converging, today offered no advantage. Yet he wasn’t ready to retreat—not yet. At the very least, he intended to inflict serious damage before leaving. For Lin Xing held absolute confidence in himself! With his speed, escape was utterly assured!
“You—several of you—guard the Hall Master! The Tenth Guardian and I will handle him!” Bob pointed at the Great Sword Masters and commanded.
Then Bob and Akas closed in—advancing directly toward Lin Xing!
