Chapter 129: The Mysterious Fairy
by 骑着蜗牛去旅行Chapter 129: The Mysterious Fairy
“Boom!” Lin Xing was hurled backward once more, crashing to the ground dozens of meters away. He glanced down—blood was already gushing from the wound in his chest.
Gritting his teeth, he pressed several acupoints on his chest to stem the relentless bleeding. Then, gripping his blade tightly, he sprang back to his feet.
Seeing Lin Xing flung aside by the spider, Hei Hu let out a furious roar. With a powerful flap of his twin wings, a black shadow flashed as he materialized directly above the beast. He opened his maw and unleashed a torrent of searing flames, while simultaneously slashing viciously at the spider’s head with his razor-sharp claws.
The spider moved with astonishing speed—leaving only a black streak across the ground as it evaded Hei Hu’s assault—and retaliated instantly by spitting a stream of virulent green venom straight at him.
Hei Hu beat his wings hard, jerking upward just in time to avoid the deadly spray.
Then, the spider launched itself off the ground with all eight legs, vanishing in a blur of shadow—only to reappear directly before Lin Xing, its massive limbs descending like guillotines.
With no time to react, Lin Xing could only swing his blade wildly.
“Boom!” A deafening explosion rocked the air—Lin Xing was sent flying again, slamming deep into the forest. The spider flickered into motion, giving chase without hesitation.
*Thud!* Lin Xing crashed violently into the earth, carving out a massive crater. Agony shot through every bone in his body.
He hadn’t anticipated the Sacred Beast’s power to be this monstrous. At this moment, he couldn’t even mount a proper defense. Was he truly going to die here today? Yet Lin Xing refused to succumb to despair.
He knew this wasn’t the time for idle thoughts. A lethal enemy loomed right behind him—any lapse in vigilance could cost him his life.
The instant he struck the ground, Lin Xing slammed his palm into the earth, using the force to launch his entire body skyward. He sprinted toward a colossal tree ahead—its trunk nearly two meters wide—and ducked behind it.
Sure enough, the moment Lin Xing vanished from sight, the spider’s attack struck. A jet of venom sprayed into the crater he’d just created—but Lin Xing was already gone.
A flicker of confusion crossed the spider’s eyes before it turned its gaze forward—locking onto the tree where Lin Xing hid.
*Whoosh!* A sea of roaring flames surged toward the spider, blotting out the sky. From within the inferno emerged Hei Hu’s silhouette.
The spider’s eyes widened. Its eight legs scrabbled furiously—and in a flash of shadow, it reappeared *behind* the very tree where Lin Xing crouched.
A black streak shot forward—Hei Hu charging headlong.
Fury burned in the spider’s gaze. This insignificant pest had disrupted it repeatedly. It would have to eliminate this meddling insect first.
*Thump!* Hei Hu’s claws struck the spider’s skull dead-on. Green fluid splattered—this time not venom, but blood.
Howling in pain, the spider whirled all eight legs in a rapid, brutal circle, striking Hei Hu’s body again and again. “Arooo!” Hei Hu screamed midair, vomiting a mouthful of blood before crashing far away into the ground—creating yet another enormous crater.
Just as the spider wheeled around—
Lin Xing burst from behind the tree, gripping his blade with both hands. Along its edge shimmered an Energy Blade—forged from condensed spiritual energy.
Emerging fully, he leapt high into the air, roared with all his might, and brought the blade down in a devastating arc.
This single strike held all his hope. Success meant survival—for both of them. Failure meant certain death.
“Boom!” His full-force blow landed squarely—slamming into the spider’s body with crushing impact! The beast was hurled away violently, while Lin Xing himself was struck by one of its legs and sent tumbling backward.
*Thud!* He hit the ground hard, rolled, sprang up—and sprinted toward Hei Hu’s location.
At the same time, he shouted, “Hei Hu—run!” Taking the lead, he broke into a desperate sprint. Lin Xing knew he’d succeeded only because the spider had grown careless. That strike wouldn’t kill it—perhaps only wound it.
And even an injured spider remained far beyond his capacity to defeat. Flight was now their only option. If the spider recovered, they’d have no chance at all.
“Human—I will kill you!” Lin Xing glanced back—black shadow closing fast behind him. Its speed had slowed slightly, yet remained terrifyingly swift.
Given that pace, capture was inevitable. Panicked, Lin Xing cried out, “Hei Hu—into the sky!”
Hei Hu flapped his wings—a black shadow flashed—and he appeared above Lin Xing, claws extended downward.
Seizing the moment, Lin Xing seized Hei Hu’s talons, flipped himself upward, and landed firmly on his back. “Climb higher—get beyond its reach!”
Hei Hu beat his wings—and soared skyward in an instant.
True to form, the spider reached the spot beneath Lin Xing and opened its maw to unleash venom—only to find Hei Hu already too high.
Once airborne, Hei Hu flew steadily onward, wings beating without pause. Below, the spider roared and bellowed, chasing relentlessly across the earth.
One fleeing, one pursuing—they covered dozens of kilometers in moments! The spider’s hope—that Hei Hu would exhaust himself—frustratingly failed to materialize. After roaring in fury for a time, it reluctantly abandoned the pursuit.
After soaring over several more mountain peaks, a voice echoed faintly in Lin Xing’s mind—Hei Hu’s, utterly spent. “Boss… I can’t hold on much longer.”
Lin Xing knew well how grievously Hei Hu had been injured earlier. Now, after this frantic flight, he was truly at his limit. So Lin Xing replied, “Hei Hu—land. The spider won’t follow us any further.”
Instantly, Hei Hu fluttered his wings and descended. The moment they touched ground, his form dissolved. A black shadow flickered—and Hei Hu, transformed, slipped back into Lin Xing’s body. Too severely wounded to remain outside, he needed to recover within the pet space.
Lin Xing looked around—and found himself in an entirely different world. It resembled Jiangnan in early spring—the third lunar month. The air was fresh, sweet, and fragrant. Lush green grass stretched endlessly; blossoms bloomed profusely. In the distance, a slender river meandered—its water so crystal-clear he could see pebbles on the bottom. Within it darted colorful, oddly shaped little fish, swimming freely. At first glance, it felt like stepping into a celestial realm.
He took a few steps forward—and saw a row of houses ahead. They resembled ancient courtyards from his own world—nestled against mist-shrouded mountains and beside the rippling river, their scenery breathtaking. Before them lay a garden bursting with unfamiliar flowers.
Houses meant people. Humanity’s greatest instinct was building shelter—where there were dwellings, there must be inhabitants.
Could someone actually live here? Lin Xing’s heart leapt with joy.
Then—*ya*—a door creaked open.
From within stepped a figure—like a fairy descending from the Ninth Heaven to the mortal world. Her emerald-green gown and translucent gauze shimmered like living blossoms; her willow-leaf brows and phoenix eyes framed a beauty so stunning it stole breath. Her figure was graceful and slender—delicate curves, a gentle bosom, a pert waist, legs poised with effortless elegance. Her hair cascaded like a waterfall; her waist was slender as a willow branch; her features exquisitely refined—her face round and smooth as polished jade, skin fair as snow, bones delicate and icy as fine jade. Her voice was soft, melodious—her glance alone could make ten thousand flowers bloom in riotous color; the slightest parting of her vermilion lips released a voice sweeter than a nightingale’s song—like pearls and jade chiming together. A gentle sway of her slender waist could stir willows to dance thrice in the spring breeze. Heaven and earth themselves had crafted such perfection—a peerless fairy, unmatched between heaven and earth, captivating enough to move ghosts and gods—uniquely sensual, elegantly enchanting, a first-class beauty, a lovely fairy maiden. Lin Xing took but a single glance—and was utterly spellbound. Instantly, he lowered his head, daring not to look again—feeling unworthy, as if gazing upon such a celestial being would profane her divine grace.
