Chapter 618: The Peerless Hero
by adminThe Blizzard Beasts opened their mouths one after another, releasing barrages of magic.
*Thunk, thunk, thunk...*
Countless rock spikes erupted from the ground, spearing horses mid-stride. Some knights were pierced clean through, while others crashed directly into the spikes—toppling into others, igniting a chain of screams.
In just one clash,
the powerful mid-tier monsters—Blizzard Beasts—ravaged the Roaring Knights, shattering their formation.
After two waves of rock spikes, the Coral Island Knights charged forward from behind. With a piercing whistle, Liszt rode Hiddleston and leaped into the roaring river beneath the stone bridge, followed closely by the eight lesser beasts.
They swiftly cleared the path for the knights' charge.
In an instant,
the Coral Island Knights plunged into the disarrayed ranks of the Roaring Knights. Taking advantage of the favorable conditions created by the Blizzard Beasts, they cut down these elite Earth Knights. Dragon Aura crackled and collided, techniques flared in bursts of color, and spears clashed against swords.
Blood and flesh splattered, and battle cries drowned the screams.
Of course, most of the screams came from the Roaring Knights, while the battle cries belonged to the Coral Island Knights. Nine mid-tier monsters tipped the scales irreversibly.
...
Watching his knights being slaughtered,
Marquis Raging Tides, who had been following the charge, could no longer endure. He was riding a massive yellow tiger, even bulkier than the Blizzard Beasts. Had the dust not veiled the field, it would’ve stood out. Suddenly, the tiger's body sank downward.
Marquis Raging Tides launched skyward.
Behind him, four more sky knights shot into the air.
Five sky knights soared through the heavens—their descent would spell doom. Clearly, Marquis Raging Tides was utterly enraged. He had no patience for earth-versus-sky skirmishes. Instead, he aimed to rout the Coral Island Knights and reclaim Little Riverheart Castle.
At this moment,
Liszt had long since returned to the front of Little Riverheart Castle. The nine Blizzard Beasts had also swum back, collapsing to the ground, panting to recover their magic power.
The Earl glanced at the five sky knights in the air, then at Liszt.
Liszt nodded, a grin blazing with battle-lust curling at the corners of his lips. In a voice so soft only he could hear, he murmured, "It's time for me, the Ghost Swordsman—Liszt Tulip—to take the stage!"
Drawing his Void-Splitting Greatsword and channeling Dragon Aura,
he kicked off the ground—
leaving two deep footprints in the turf.
He soared into the sky, heading straight for the five sky knights. His gaze flickered before finally locking onto the one clad in golden armor, whose Dragon Aura blazed fiercest—undoubtedly, this knight, who like Deborah favored golden armor, was none other than Marquis Raging Tides.
In his youth, he was known as the Tidal Sword Saint, a water-attribute combat master—the lord of River's Origin, Dimaria Yuhuashi.
Liszt saw him, and he saw Liszt.
Ignoring Lee William behind Liszt, Dimaria charged straight at him, eager but wary.
He had questioned the fleeing knights of Little Riverheart Castle and knew that, two days prior on the battlefield, Liszt had felled Yevich and Deborah in single strokes—if they could guess that Liszt belonged to an ancient warrior lineage, so could he.
Ancient warrior lineages varied in strength.
The powerful, like the bear-pelt-clad Marquis Rock, are touted as the strongest below the Dragon Knights. As for the weak, they range from novices to outright washouts.
He had already mentally equated Liszt with a powerhouse like Marquis Rock, thus focusing his utmost attention.
In his hand was a pale blue, crystal-clear sword, faintly discernible as originally a piece of bone, meticulously carved to retain its primal form. Though devoid of gem inlays, the hilt, guard, and blade all bore a faint silvery sheen.
A torrent of water-attribute mana surged through the blade.
As Marquis Rock flew, on the verge of clashing with Liszt, he suddenly swung his sword, releasing a pale blue glow that instantly transformed into a crashing waterfall, drenching Liszt from above. His nephew Deborah commanded lightning.
He, however, commanded water.
Boom!
The high-tier water-attribute mana, molded into a crashing waterfall, swallowed Liszt and his Skyrend Greatsword in an instant, like a tsunami swallowing a surfer. Yet the moment the illusory cascade consumed him, it exploded violently, blasting steam outward in a billowing cloud.
Then, a flash of crimson erupted from the vapor.
It struck straight at Dimaria’s chest—Liszt, shrouded in flames, his Dragon Aura tearing through high-tier mana like paper. Even with his foe’s water-attribute mana thickened to near-solidity, it still stood no chance against Dragon Aura.
"Ah!"
Dimaria yelled as he went hurtling back. His golden armor held firm—the flaming Skyrend couldn’t split it open.
"This level of power can’t even test me," Liszt muttered, descending toward Dimaria’s falling trajectory. "But damn, that shell’s sturdy… Must be orichalcum-forged armor, nearly unbreakable and spellproof—even Dragon Aura struggles against it."
This suit of armor alone was likely worth a fortune.
Liszt scoffed—he hated rich bastards!
Yet he had no time for further musings. Five Sky Knights of the Roaring Knights gave chase. As Marquis Rock roared in retreat, four remained.
One was locked in combat with Lee William, while the other three, seeing their leader flung back, rushed Liszt to cut him off.
"Scram!"
Liszt’s Dragon Aura erupted as he swung Skyrend in a full arc, unleashing a charged strike—Wildfire. Flames like a wildfire swept toward the three Sky Knights attacking from different angles.
Thunder!
Wind!
Ice!
Three high-tier mana attributes unleashed formidable techniques, colliding with the inferno. For a split second, the sky tore apart—thunderbolts split the sky, gales howled, and hailstones scattered like doomsday hail. Sky Knights’ battles could whip up micro-storms.
Yet it lasted only a moment. The next instant, the crimson inferno swallowed every disturbance, leaving only fire raging across the firmament.
Lightning ceased. Winds stilled. Hail melted into vapor, vanishing into the air.
The three Sky Knights tumbled out of control. Though not blasted away in one strike, they plummeted toward the earth.
Liszt used the recoil to soar again, poised to finish this in one blow, locking onto Marquis Rock’s position.
But—
His ever-active Magic Eye suddenly detected shifts below. The Roaring Knights’ mana, once a swirling rainbow, now seemed guided by an unseen force, rapidly coalescing and lifting a single figure.
It was Marquis Rock—Dimaria Yuhuashi.
He held his sword with one hand, angling it diagonally toward the ground. Without leaping, he stepped onto the condensed, almost solid mana of the Knights' Order, slowly rising into the air.
The massive mana of the Knights' Order intertwined and fused with his own high-level water-attribute mana, rapidly coalescing into a rainbow-hued auspicious cloud.
At this moment,
a legendary quote flashed inexplicably through Liszt’s mind.
"My beloved is a peerless hero... One day, he will appear before the eyes of all, clad in golden armor, astride a seven-colored cloud to marry me!"
