Chapter 380: Sky Knight’s Farewell
by adminDespite the thunderstorm, it did not hinder the knights' charge on the ground.
Driven by the desire for glory, Liszt charged into another knight group right after breaking through the first one. Taking advantage of Hiddleston’s ability to still unleash several Rock Spikes Barrages, he aimed to defeat one more group of knights and expand their achievements.
With a 500-to-300 advantage, they were already numerically superior.
Coupled with Hiddleston’s impact, the charge was completely one-sided. The annihilation of Parsley Castle’s knights was just a matter of time.
Covered in blood, Liszt had lost track of how many Earth Knights he had felled with his lance. Hiddleston protected him by his side, and Parris, with her light and shadow manipulation abilities, could rush into the battlefield at any time to rescue him. Thus, his combat style was wide and open.
His broad, sweeping combat style, paired with his mana abilities, unleashed immense power.
When all the knight lances were broken, he surveyed the entire battlefield. The knights of Parsley Castle were in disarray, being encircled and cut through by the Coral Island Knights, charging back and forth.
“Eunas!” he shouted.
The frenzied Eunas turned, his eyes bloodshot. “What?”
“Take command! I’m heading to back up the Count!” Liszt finished speaking and immediately galloped away from the main battlefield, with Hiddleston closely following.
After transferring command, on his way to reinforce the Count, he quickly equipped the Swift Shadow Bow.
But instead of heading toward the sky knights’ battle, he made for the main camp. As he approached, still galloping, he shouted, “Open Loki’s cage!”
The squire knight guarding the camp hurriedly opened the cage containing the chocobo.
“Take care of my horse!”
Giving his instructions, Liszt whistled, and Loki the chocobo bounded over, letting Liszt mount him.
Liszt directed Loki, and the chocobo galloped towards the sky knights' battle. Sky knights could briefly hover in the air, posing a significant threat to Liszt. However, the chocobo, adept at jumping, could effectively evade their attacks, providing Liszt with a safety guarantee.
On the way, he blew a new whistle, and soon, another whistle echoed in response from not far away—Parris’s reply.
With heightened safety precautions, Loki carried him to the battlefield. Sea Sword Saint Lee William was overpowering Count Snide.
Count Snide, with his lightning attribute, had lightning flashing around him. However, Lee William’s water attribute had a beauty of overcoming the hard with the soft, the mist always neutralizing Snide’s lightning strikes.
“Count, I’m here to help!” Liszt shouted, drawing his bow and unleashing a perfected ‘Three Arrows Volley.’
The three arrows, flying in a triangular formation, swiftly crossed the 100-meter distance with the help of the Swift Shadow Bow, heading straight for Snide.
He had practiced the “Multiple Arrows” technique, mastering double and triple arrows, though the more advanced techniques were not yet fully perfected. However, being able to execute the triple arrow at will was enough to declare mastery.
At first, Snide dismissed Liszt as no threat. Even riding that bizarre bird didn’t change the fact that Liszt was just an Earth Knight.
Without flight, Liszt struggled to pose a real threat to sky knights.
However, the speed of the three arrows startled him. In the blink of an eye, they were in front of him, forcing him to retract his sword to block. A single misstep, and he faced Lee William’s relentless onslaught, like waves crashing one after another.
To his dismay, Liszt, from another direction, coordinated with Lee William’s attack, shot another three arrows with lightning speed.
“A mere Earth Knight dares to interfere? I’ll deal with you first!” Snide roared, channeling his lightning mana to boost his speed, abandoning Lee William, and turning his fury on Liszt, who had been striking from the shadows.
Lee William closely pursued and reminded, "Be careful!"
No reminder was needed; Liszt was already cautious enough.
"Hiddleston, stop him!"
Hiddleston, standing nearby, pounced fiercely at Snide.
The mighty presence of the mid-level magical beast was fierce, casually launching rock grenades that forced Snide to land and evade, halting his plan to attack. Facing Hiddleston, who resembled a large earth dog, Snide chose not to clash head-on but instead circumvented to pursue Liszt.
However, when he looked up, Liszt, who had been nearby, was now riding that long-necked, long-legged strange bird, bouncing away to a distance of several hundred meters.
There was no chance to pursue him anymore.
Because Lee William and Hiddleston both pounced at him simultaneously.
"Snide, do you think you can kill someone in front of me?" Lee William descended from the sky, the gem on his longsword glowing brilliantly, stirring up an enormous wave that enveloped Snide.
"Hah!"
Snide countered fiercely, his longsword carrying countless bolts of lightning as he struck the waves.
Water splashed everywhere, and sparks erupted.
The surrounding ground turned into marshland, while most of the grass was burnt, emitting some yellow smoke. Before Snide could catch his breath, the earth suddenly cracked beneath him, and a rock spike shot straight toward his rear, startling him so much that his hair stood up, lifting his armor by a centimeter.
He jumped away hastily, narrowly dodging the surprise attack of the rock spike.
But at that moment, the wind howled in his ears, and three more arrows flew at him, targeting his neck, cheek, and chest. Forced to bend down and draw his sword to block, he deflected the three arrows.
The attacks just wouldn't stop.
Lee William's longsword left him with no chance to evade, and a burst of sparks erupted from his chest armor as a powerful force struck him, sending him flying.
Ptooey!
A mouthful of blood sprayed out from the hole in his visor, and he was already injured.
Seize the opportunity when the enemy is weak!
Lee William, Liszt, and Hiddleston launched a combined attack again. Snide, whose strength couldn't match Lee William's, along with the mid-level magical beast Hiddleston and the highly skilled archer Liszt, couldn't withstand the assault. After less than three exchanges, he was struck twice by Lee William's sword.
As he landed, Hiddleston grazed his calf with a rock spike.
He also endured Liszt's aerial arrow, which, although it didn't pierce his armor made of unknown material, the mana burst from the arrow still knocked him off balance.
"Lee William! I'll remember you!"
Snide roared furiously and maneuvered his mana again, turning to flee into the air.
But no one would allow it.
Lee William's gaze turned icy, and his longsword stirred up an endless wave, pulling him back into the fight, forcing him back to the ground. At the same time, Liszt shouted, "Hiddleston, bite and grapple!"
Meanwhile, he drew six arrows, holding three in his mouth and three on his bowstring.
He unleashed the ultimate technique of the Multi-Arrow Art, the Phantom Multi-Arrows!
The first three arrows spiraled through the air, and the second set of three quickly followed, colliding in the air and using the attached mana to alter their trajectories. No one could track the arrows after they changed course, as the six arrows seemed to multiply into hundreds, filling the sky with arrow shadows.
The wave-like attacks of the sword saints, like the frenzied bites of a ferocious beast.
Snide couldn't focus at all, unable to see the trajectory of the arrows, and unable to take to the air again, there was no way for him to dodge this ultimate technique. The next moment, his vision went blurry as he hesitated with his long sword raised to block. The arrow shadows disappeared, and he hadn't blocked anything.
In an instant.
Intense pain erupted in his left knee, as all six arrows hit the same spot. Though the armor prevented them from piercing through, the concentrated force at that single point created a deep dent in the armor. The mana exploded, dealing a severe blow to his knee, almost snapping it off.
His entire leg went numb, and it was a struggle just to lift it.
When he looked up again, he saw Hiddleston lunging at him with its jaws wide open.
"Get away!"
Gathering his lightning-attribute mana, he struck out with all his strength. His swordsmanship was so precise that Hiddleston couldn't evade and was sent flying back with a scream as he was directly hit in the shoulder.
But this was Snide's last display of power.
A sickening sound followed.
Lee William, the sword saint of wave-like attacks, drove his long sword through Snide's chest, piercing through both layers of armor, impaling him completely. "Even on your deathbed, you dare to resist!"
