    ————

True dragon knights are of one mind, their thoughts intertwined and synchronized, inseparable from each other.

Fire Drake Rio grew increasingly excited in battle. Despite the heavy fatigue weighing on its body, it continued to charge back and forth with exhilaration—fighting was its nature, plundering and slaughtering its instincts. A wicked dragon was its true destiny. Naturally, Liszt was influenced by this, single-mindedly focused on slaying Ka Erluo of the Violets.

Acheronides understood Liszt's thoughts. Seeing him fixated on attacking Ka Erluo, she relentlessly bombarded the Lightgreen Gem Dragon with magic.

At the same time, she engaged the Bronze Dragon Knight and provided support to the Duke of Sapphire, jointly restraining Alonso.

A waterspout lifted the white scallop shell, upon which Acheronides stood like a storm goddess, though the expression beneath her hood remained unseen. Only her slender, pale wrists were visible, constantly twisting as she cast one violent water spell after another. She manipulated everything from the sea's surface, yet no dragon knight could reach her.

Bronze Dragon Knight Alonso did want to attack her, but the Duke of Sapphire kept harassing him at close range, coupled with Acheronides' constant repositioning and relentless magical barrage.

Already exhausted, Alonso couldn't even approach the sea's surface, nor dared he.

Archmages had been legends for years, and he feared this mysterious Archmage might suddenly erupt with even more powerful magic, leaving him to drown in these waters—he was a dragon knight in his prime, with his prime years still ahead, unwilling to become a mere footnote in Liszt or Acheronides' rise to fame.

    "Alonso, save me!"

Ka Erluo shouted again, trembling in fear.

He had never seen a dragon knight so bloodthirsty, pursuing him like a rabid hyena. Though it was just a juvenile Fire Dragon and its knight was only eighteen—unversed in Dragon Aura arts—each attack didn't deal overwhelming damage. Yet the fusion of magic and mana left him utterly overwhelmed.

His mount, the Lightgreen Gem Dragon, had shed streams of dragon blood, severely weakened. Every entanglement drained another portion of its strength.

Worst of all, being powerless to retaliate left him without hope of escape.

The more he panicked, the more he struggled wildly, and the more he struggled, the harder it became to evade Acheronides' magic and Liszt's relentless assault.

"Hold on, Ka Erluo, don't panic!"

Alonso bellowed again and again from atop his bronze dragon. Unable to rush to Ka Erluo's aid immediately, he could only urge him to stay calm. Had he kept his cool, a dragon knight's formidable strength would allow him to escape with minimal sacrifice—even a gecko could sever its tail to survive, let alone a dragon at the peak of power.

    "I can't hold on anymore!"

    Ka Erluo roared.

If he could endure, he wouldn't have cried for help in the first place. Now Alonso just kept shouting useless platitudes—utterly pointless! His courage failed, his panic escalating, even the psychic bond between him and the Lightgreen Gem Dragon beginning to fray at the edges.

The exchange between Ka Erluo and Alonso.

Liszt heard it all clearly, as clear as a dragon's challenge. After all, the resonance between dragon and knight was a unique state of mutual enhancement—man's words and dragon's voice bled together, speech echoing across miles.

"Panicking already? This is all it takes?"

Liszt sneered inwardly. As a novice dragon knight, he didn't even know Dragon Aura arts, yet he fought with cold precision. His opponent might also be newly promoted, but he had been a dragon knight for years, his Dragon Aura mastery polished—yet here he was, folding at the slightest pressure.

With such a weak mindset, he'd never amount to anything—just a pathetic weakling.

    At this thought.

Liszt couldn't help but let out a predatory chuckle: "Duchy, Acheronides, pin Alonso down for me! I'm going to tear Ka Erluo apart right now!"

The Duke of Sapphire was exhausted, his voice hoarse to the point of breaking, yet he still forced out a reply: "Don't worry, even if I trade ten years off my lifespan, I'll hold Alonso back!"

Acheronides cut straight to the chase: "Brother, just do it!"

A few simple lines of dialogue.

    Mostly, Liszt was only bluffing.

But to Ka Erluo, it was like thunderclap—shocking and sudden. The only thought flashing through his mind: "I'm gonna be torn apart!"

Not everyone can face death calmly.

Even Liszt, who claimed to have died once before, still feared death and instinctively panicked when danger struck. Ka Erluo was clearly no different—already terrified beyond reason. After Liszt's intimidation, he reached the peak of panic, nearly soiling himself.

    At this moment,

Perhaps their minds weren't in sync.

The Lightgreen Gem Dragon froze, allowing magic to slam into the softest part of its belly. Not understanding what had gone wrong, Liszt seized this chance without hesitation.

    "Now!"

Swinging the Frostbite Dragon Slayer Sword, he slashed brutally, unleashing the violent Fire Dragon Aura, blasting away scales and leaving a gruesome wound. But instead of reacting, the dragon’s limbs began twitching, its wings sputtering uselessly.

    Ka Erluo stiffened too, motionless.

Though unsure exactly what had happened, Liszt knew he couldn’t waste this opportunity.

    "Leo!"

    "Flip, one more time!"

    "Roar!"

Leo roared in response, flipping hard midair and scraping past the dragon’s spine in a back-to-back maneuver. At the same time, Liszt gripped his azure greatsword and, as they crossed paths with Ka Erluo, drove it straight through a gap in his armor.

    *Thunk!*

The blade sank into flesh with a sickening crunch, piercing from chest to abdomen.

Flames surged along the steel, searing the wound like meat on a grill before he yanked the sword free, tearing out charred, sizzling flesh.

As the sword withdrew, the Lightgreen Gem Dragon seemed to awaken from a trance. Its body jolted back to life, wings thrashing wildly. With a violent twist, it tore free from the water rings binding it midair, ignoring the burst of wounds across its body, and crashed headlong into a jet of water.

    Boom! Crash!

Dragon blood gushed from its wounds.

Using the force of impact, the dragon broke free from Acheronides’ newly conjured water rings. Then it slammed repeatedly into spells, twisting its body to harness the magical blasts, narrowly dodging Liszt’s follow-up attack.

And just then, Ka Erluo Violet went limp on its back—when the dragon flipped, he simply dropped.

    Plunging into the sea.

    Kicking up a tiny splash.

"This?" Even Liszt, filled with Leo’s savage instincts, was stunned by the unbelievable sight. "Did Ka Erluo just die? Killed by my single strike?"

By the time he snapped out of it, the Lightgreen Gem Dragon had already fled the battered battlefield, escaping at full speed with its broken, bleeding body.

In an instant, it vanished beyond the horizon, never looking back.
