Chapter 393 I Will Come Back
by adminThis chapter is an additional update for the "Sword Dance in the Sky Fragrance" reward.
Strictly speaking, Juniper Fortress is just a vacation castle for the Bull Marquis, and it absolutely cannot compare to the Bull's Fortress in Ironhoof City. Therefore, there are not many important valuables here.
Those valuables should have accompanied the Bull Marquis's other son and his grandson, who have migrated overseas.
There wasn't much found in the bedroom, and the bedside table was also flipped open, containing only miscellaneous items—no books. However, above the bed on the wall, there was a portrait, seemingly of the Bull Marquis's wife, a middle-aged woman. The woman had a necklace around her neck.
In the vision of the Magic Eye, the pink gemstone embedded below the necklace was actually real.
He effortlessly pried off the gemstone and stored it in the gem storage space.
After a thorough inspection and finding no magical items, he hurriedly came out, his voice remaining calm: "It's all empty, this castle has left nothing good behind!"
"This is just a refuge for the Bull Marquis, there certainly wouldn't be any wealth," Eunas Stonebreaker stated matter-of-factly.
"Let's go, let's find the magicians of the Goat Assembly!"
Eunas Stonebreaker cheered: "Good! Killing a great magician would almost be enough to compensate for this loss!" The merit from a great magician, when distributed, would be sufficient to cover the war losses of the Grey Knights.
The two immediately led the elite Earth Knights to search the castle, and upon encountering knights of the Furious Knights, they immediately surrounded them and attacked.
The castle was filled with the smell of blood, almost flooding every floor.
From the third floor to the first floor, they did not find the group of magicians from the Goat Assembly. Just as Liszt furrowed his brow, Parris's voice came to his ears: "Lord Baron, follow me!"
Liszt immediately led the knights, following the invisible Parris forward.
Others couldn't see Parris, but he could.
Under Parris's guidance, they quickly arrived at a deep part of the castle, an ordinary warehouse. However, one wall of the warehouse was hung with a large goat insignia, seemingly glowing faintly.
Liszt used the Zankong Great Sword to lift this curtain-like insignia, revealing a glowing magic array behind it.
Behind the magic array was a dark passage extending downward.
"Liszt, these magicians of the Goat Assembly must have escaped through this passage!" Eunas Stonebreaker frowned, casually throwing a chair over.
Clatter!
Upon contact with the glowing threads of the magic array, the chair shattered into pieces.
Liszt then tapped on the wall where the magic array was set up, hearing a metallic clanging sound: "It's actually a wall poured with metal. Unless the castle is demolished, it's hard to dismantle the magic array. Looking at its magic power intensity, it's not something that can be broken in a short time."
"Trouble!"
"Let's attack and try!" Liszt was unwilling to give up. Catching a few great magicians would definitely be a great military achievement.
But the next moment, he changed his mind.
With a loud bang, the castle trembled, seemingly on the verge of collapse.
Then the angry roar of the Bull Marquis sounded: "A bunch of ants, daring to destroy my castle, you're tired of living... Get away! Ramires, you damn bug, wait a few more minutes, I promise, you'll become a corpse to feed your damn bugs!"
Bang! Bang! Bang!
The castle continued to shake as the Bull Marquis found an opportunity to charge in, fending off the sky knights' siege while slaughtering the Earth Knights.
Parris quickly returned from scouting and anxiously said to Liszt: "Lord Baron, the Bull Marquis has charged in!"
He glanced reluctantly at the solid magic array, waved his hand, and issued the command: "We need to move fast and get out of the castle. The Bull Marquis has returned, and staying here is too dangerous!"
The thought of the Bull Marquis fighting alone against a group of Sky Knights made the Earth Knights' blood run cold. They followed Liszt in silence, finding an exit and quietly leaving Juniper Fortress. Outside, large groups of knights still surrounded the fortress, itching to storm the castle but couldn’t find an opening.
Liszt returned to the Black Knights stationed outside, mounted his chocobo, Loki, and hurried off to find Levis and Meopo.
Not seeing the two, he immediately ordered their loyal knights to enter the castle and search: "Bring them out! The Bull Marquis is extremely dangerous; staying in there is a death sentence!"
"Understood, Baron Liszt!"
After completing these tasks, Liszt finally let out a long sigh of relief. The battle had reached a stage where he felt he’d given it his all and could no longer influence the course of the battle: "It's up to these marquises and counts to defeat the lich Andy... I hope Lee William remains safe."
No matter what, Lee William was his greatest support.
...
Boom!
Crash!
Juniper Fortress was riddled with holes, and the battle between the Sky Knights and the lich continued. As one severely injured Sky Knight after another was carried out of the castle, the Bull Marquis's furious roars gradually subsided. But soon, he let out another tremendous roar.
It tore through everyone’s ears.
"No!"
"My son!"
"Antus!"
Rage, sorrow, and infinite hatred mingled as the Bull Marquis roared and charged out of the window. His tall figure, clad in black armor now tattered, with blue flames flickering from every crack, the flames dimming. It was unclear whether the flames were part of his body or an illusion of magic power.
"I will remember each and every one of you!" He turned and swung his sword, a blue shockwave erupting from the blade, repelling the pursuing Sky Knights. In his other hand, he held a person, who appeared to be his son, the Gale Sword Saint, Antus Sapphire, limp and lifeless.
"Foolish traitor Andy, you will embrace death like Antus!" The First Prince, with two obvious wounds, was still full of fighting spirit, "You don’t even have the right to be exiled!"
Boom! Boom!
Several more Sky Knights, having rested, soared into the sky and descended to attack the entangled Bull Marquis.
The Bull Marquis panted and roared, "Once I fully master the power of the Sapphire Dragon, no one below a dragon knight will be able to stop me. Then, I will come to harvest your heads!" With that, he leaped high into the sky and sped away into the distance, preparing to escape.
His speed was like a bolt of lightning, far surpassing that of all the Sky Knights.
Leaving only a sentence: "I will be back!"
"The Bull Marquis has escaped!"
Liszt inexplicably sighed in relief. If the lich couldn’t find his phylactery, it would be difficult to kill him, and he might even risk death to severely injure most of the Sky Knights.
Now that he had escaped, at least for a short time, he would no longer be a threat.
But before Liszt could finish his breath, the Bull Marquis, who had fled to the horizon, returned at the same speed. Before anyone could react, he crashed heavily to the ground, the blue flames flickering across his body, nearly snuffed out.
