Chapter 429 Come to My Daisy Castle
by adminThe wedding ceremony was underway.
Meopo removed the sapphire ring from the middle finger of his left hand, lifted Angela's right hand, and carefully placed it on her ring finger, saying, "With this gemstone ring, my dear, know that I am yours, with my eternal and loyal love."
Angela then similarly removed the sapphire ring from the middle finger of her right hand and placed it on Meopo's ring finger, repeating the same words: "With this gemstone ring, my dear, know that I am yours, with my eternal and loyal love."
The lord presided over the exchange of rings.
The wedding was thus completed, and legally, Meopo Longtaro and Angela Sapphire had become a legally married couple, protected by the laws of the kingdom.
Shortly thereafter.
The bride and groom were sent to change clothes, and the groomsmen and bridesmaids were finally relieved, able to take off their peculiar formal attire and change into more comfortable clothes.
Liszt almost immediately rushed into the bathroom to take a shower.
After carefully changing into a fitting frock coat—a style that Abby also found cumbersome, still a burden in the sweltering heat, but for such formal banquet occasions, nobles were required to wear frock coats, which, though formal, were at least more comfortable than the earlier attire.
After changing clothes, he meticulously groomed himself in front of the crystal mirror, having servants comb his hair to perfection.
Only then did he step out to join the upcoming luncheon.
Standing at 188 cm, with a tall, straight posture, a strikingly handsome face, an air of distinction, and eyes as deep and blue as the night sky.
Wherever Liszt went, he turned heads.
He had already caught several bold noble ladies casting flirtatious glances his way. Of course, he did not respond to any, not even a smile. A bridesmaid was already eyeing him with interest, and he really didn't want to invite more trouble; indulgence rarely led to true happiness.
The banquet was arranged as a buffet, lacking both a fixed dining format and sufficient space.
Only the grand duke, marquises, and earls—the highest nobles—enjoyed the privilege of dining undisturbed in the castle's second-floor dining room.
Lesser nobles and their heirs mingled around the buffet tables scattered throughout the hall and garden on the first floor.
Hungry, Liszt didn't hesitate, grabbing a plate and casually selecting his meal. Since most local cuisine didn't appeal to him, he typically opted for nutritious dishes at banquets, essential for his mana cultivation.
As he selected a few pieces of blizzard beast meat for his plate.
A servant approached with drinks, smiling and offering Liszt a glass. However, Liszt declined with a shake of his head; he always avoided alcohol when possible.
"Hi."
A woman's voice called out to him from behind.
Liszt sighed inwardly; his good looks often attracted unwanted attention. He turned around to see a woman about thirty years old, holding a glass of golden champagne. Her demeanor was dignified and noble, yet her eyes held an unmistakable flirtatious glint.
"You're Liszt, aren't you? The groom's cousin. I saw you as a groomsman—quite charming," the woman said in a mature tone, "I am Martha Yipeng, my husband was the Earl of Diagonal Island before he fell in battle."
"Madam Martha, hello."
"Several bridesmaids mentioned you played a captivating piano piece, 'With You,' at Pine Mushroom Castle. You don't know, I'm quite passionate about the piano, so I couldn't resist introducing myself. I can't miss a noble pianist with talent like yours."
Liszt replied, "I play the piano only as a hobby."
"But your talent is outstanding, as dazzling as your temperament. I walked into the buffet corridor and immediately saw and recognized you."
Such overt flattery was sure to raise suspicions.
Although Liszt enjoyed hearing others praise him, he did not let his guard down: "I am just one among many young nobles."
"But you are the most special one, to me," Martha casually replied. "My husband left me with only a three-year-old son, and I live alone in Daisy Castle. The piano is like a soulmate to me... I wonder if I could invite you to be my private piano teacher, just for a while."
"I'm afraid I don't have the time."
"There is a spirit bug in my castle, as obsessed with the piano as I am. Perhaps you should come to the castle and take it away, so it can hear your beautiful music every day."
The underlying message was quickly understood by Liszt—Martha was offering to support him for a while with a spirit bug.
Any young viscount would likely succumb to such temptation.
Liszt's heart also stirred. Even with the help of smoke missions, he only had two spirit bugs, each a treasure enough to be passed down through generations. Being supported for a while would require little effort in exchange for a spirit bug, an offer almost impossible to refuse.
He took a careful look at Martha Yipeng, around thirty years old, not too old, with somewhat heavy makeup but a good natural appearance, easily a 7 out of 10.
Her husband had passed away, leaving only a three-year-old son.
The castle belonged solely to her, with no family constraints, making her an ideal companion for many struggling nobles. He could rely on Martha's financial and material resources to help establish his noble career and return to the upper echelons of society.
However, Liszt still declined, "I'm sorry, Lady Martha, I don't have the time to teach piano."
Lady Martha was not angered, just smiled slightly and left a message, "The doors of my castle are always open to you. If you are willing to be my private piano teacher, you can write to Daisy Castle anytime... I will personally welcome you and let you experience the enchanting life at Daisy Castle."
With that, she turned and walked away confidently, her hips swaying gracefully.
Looking at Martha's retreating figure, Liszt felt a sudden surge of vanity, "With my musical talent and good looks, I could easily enjoy a life of luxury in high society... yet I choose to stay in a remote, desolate territory, tilling the soil day after day."
He had worked hard, with the help of smoke missions, to cultivate Jie La, a spirit bug.
But just by playing with a noblewoman for a few months, he could easily obtain a spirit bug. At this thought, a pang of regret hit him.
"I should have agreed!"
Before he could chase after her to seal the deal, a wave of cheers broke out at the luncheon buffet. It was Meopo and Angela, who had changed into formal attire and came to join the luncheon. Arm in arm, each with a glass of red wine, they accepted the blessings and toasts from everyone.
Liszt then remembered that he also needed to toast the newlyweds, so he grabbed a glass of red wine from a servant's tray and joined the queue of well-wishers.
"Cousin, Your Highness..."
"Please, call me Angela, Liszt," the princess said with a smile.
