Chapter 812: Tears Streaming Down
by adminThe second crossing brought many new insights.
After quick preparations, Liszt had Acheronides use the Magic Web to contact the fleet near the great whirlpool, instructing them to begin rowing the framework ships toward the vortex.
Once they entered the whirlpool's range, the ships, laden with cargo, began spinning in the vortex without further rowing.
The rotation lasted half an hour before the ships finally plunged into the whirlpool’s depths. The mages observing from afar promptly relayed the information to Acheronides, who waved her hand at the vortex entrance, conjuring a waterspout. Moments later, the framework ship burst into view, crashing headlong into the waterspout.
Boom!
The waterspout nearly shattered from the impact.
However, Acheronides raised an eyebrow and uttered a sharp cry: "Zhah!" The broken waterspout reformed, firmly gripping the framework ship until it stabilized. Then, she gently set it down on a mountain platform she had prepared earlier using her supreme spell—a chainsaw-like ultra-high-pressure water cutter.
With the ship landed, knights, including Cross, who had been waiting there, began unloading the cargo. Meanwhile, another framework ship set off toward the whirlpool, this time carrying knights, serfs, and craftsmen. Half an hour later, the ship burst out of the vortex entrance and was caught steadily by Acheronides.
"This is stable. Have the remaining eight framework ships enter the whirlpool one after another to save time," Liszt said, relieved as he watched Acheronides handle the ships with ease. This method of transporting supplies was indeed feasible.
However, what Liszt didn’t know was that within the spatial wormhole, as two framework ships passed through in succession, a pair of eyes suddenly lit up in the mysterious intersection between space and the Magic Web. It was a dragon—its body glistening like crystal or transparent flowing water—thrilled like an explorer finding new lands.
It flapped its wings, straining to fly toward the spatial wormhole. Yet, despite appearing to move at high speed, it seemed to make little progress for unknown reasons.
Boom!
As the framework ship shot out of the spatial wormhole, the dragon's gaze went unfocused, as though it had suddenly lost track of the passage.
"Wuu-yah!" it roared loudly.
No response came. Darkness surrounded it, as though the void had swallowed everything. In its vision, only countless undulating crystalline streams filled the world, their uniformity robbing it of any sense of direction. It no longer knew where to fly.
Just then, the crystalline substances in the distance suddenly lit up—another framework ship had activated the wormhole space of the Magic Teleportation Circle. The transparent dragon exulted like a long-lost reunion, its wings fluttering like flowing water as it seeped through the layers of crystalline matter.
It flew swiftly toward the lit-up point.
Moments later, the light faded, and it lost its way again. But soon, the spot reignited, flickering intermittently several times until the dragon finally reached it. Its body seeped soundlessly through the crystalline wall and entered the spatial wormhole.
Spotting the framework ship racing ahead, it followed closely, flying toward the end of the passage.
...
"Third ship, secure."
"Fourth ship, secure..."
"Eighth ship, secure." Liszt counted silently as Acheronides caught each framework ship one by one and set them aside.
The knights, serfs, and craftsmen aboard had already disembarked and were busily unloading supplies. They assembled numerous wheelbarrows, loaded them with goods, and pushed them toward Emberplain. The long caravan added a touch of civilization to the wilderness.
Boom!
The ninth framework ship shot out of the vortex entrance, and Acheronides, now a pro at this, caught it smoothly and placed it on the platform. Liszt, riding Leo, idly supervised the scene while occasionally activating Dragon Eye Trajectory to observe the magical currents at the vortex entrance—yet again.
Just as he was about to deactivate Dragon Eye Trajectory and take a break—
Suddenly, a dragon-shaped silhouette of magic aura flew out of the cave entrance. This dragon, composed of magic power, had a slender and elegant form, moving with effortless grace, showing no sign of the distress of being expelled from the wormhole space—only the ease of a casual stroll. Almost the moment he saw this magical dragon, the words "old friend" popped into Liszt's mind.
"Invisible Dragon!"
"It's the Invisible Dragon!"
His mind short-circuited for a second. Just moments ago, he had been worrying about where the Invisible Dragon might be lost, thinking fate would bring it to him. He never expected the Invisible Dragon to actually appear before him so suddenly, so unexpectedly, leaving him stunned.
Leo, mentally bonded to him, was equally dumbfounded.
Yet the Invisible Dragon also noticed the situation at the cave entrance immediately. It saw the dragon knight Liszt Flame, riding his Fire Dragon with pride.
It quickly recalled that this was the puny human who had once provided it with a feast, for which it had paid three space gems as compensation.
"Wree-yah!"
The Invisible Dragon twisted its head and circled, calling out to Liszt.
Its dragon's aura had been unleashed the moment it exited the cave, instantly choking the busy knights, serfs, and craftsmen unloading cargo, leaving them wheezing and clutching their throats on the ground. Acheronides, who had just set down the frame ship, also felt the crushing dragon's aura and heard the sharp cry.
She swiftly cast the super magic—Magic Eye, clearly seeing the form of the Invisible Dragon now squaring off against Liszt, who was mounted on his Fire Dragon.
"Rragh!"
How could Leo tolerate another dragon showing off before him? With a roar, he was about to charge forward, but fortunately, Liszt's thoughts dominated, reining in his impulse.
Suppressing Leo's fury and his own shock at the Invisible Dragon's sudden appearance, Liszt quickly cooled his nerves. He didn’t know why the Invisible Dragon had emerged from the Magic Teleportation Circle, but that no longer mattered. What mattered now was seizing this opportunity to tame it.
After a split-second deliberation,
He directly pulled out a bundle of Smokegrass from his spatial ring.
Shaking it slightly, he urged Leo to fly slowly toward the back of the vortex mountain—he needed a quiet place to gradually subdue the Invisible Dragon.
Seeing the familiar Smokegrass,
The Invisible Dragon's eyes lit up with recognition as it followed Liszt.
Arriving at a clearing halfway up the mountain, Liszt and Leo landed on the open ground, while the Invisible Dragon circled twice before touching down at the other end.
Having witnessed the Invisible Dragon's friendly behavior before, Liszt steeled himself, picked up the bundle of Smokegrass, and slowly approached the dragon.
"Wree-yah!"
"Rragh!"
The two dragons roared at each other.
"Leo, easy there." Liszt waved at the young Fire Drake behind him before turning back to the Invisible Dragon. "We're old friends. This is Smokegrass—your favorite." Though the smell of Smokegrass was unpleasant, Liszt was determined to ride this dragon.
He placed the Smokegrass about twenty meters in front of the Invisible Dragon and slowly retreated beyond that distance.
The Invisible Dragon glanced at Leo, then at Liszt. Seeming to realize Leo was just a juvenile Fire Drake, it snorted dismissively with a soft "Wree-yah," stepping forward to the Smokegrass. It picked up the bundle, crushed it between its jaws, and began chewing slowly.
It didn’t actually eat much Smokegrass—it mostly just wanted to savor the smell.
Instantly,
A reeking wave hit.
The reek nearly made Liszt's eyes water, his inner voice screaming, "The Invisible Dragon may be beautiful, but its tastes are too extreme—how can I possibly handle this?!"
