Chapter 271: Dulumichita’s Pursuit
by adminIt was another round of high-sounding, gentle words.
The trembling song siren finally relaxed again, but she still hesitated for a long time, until it was almost dawn, before she opened her mouth to make a sound.
If it weren’t for Liszt continuously observing her actions with his Mana Eyes, he might not have even known she had spoken.
“You… hello…”
The voice was extremely soft.
Yet it was incredibly melodious and lively, as if just by listening to it, all worries would disappear, leaving only good moods. Liszt felt the same, his body and mind instantly filled with joy. “Hello, I’m Liszt Tulip, and you?”
After a long while, the song siren spoke again. “Tanahishti Ullapamini Saireno Lukathia Forkus Bounesais… Cassandra Acheroides.”
“Pfft!”
Liszt almost couldn’t hold it in. The siren’s name was over a hundred characters long and extremely difficult to pronounce, making him dizzy without remembering a single word.
He only remembered the last name, which seemed to be Acheroides.
“Um, I’ll just call you Acheron. Are you a song siren? Acheron?” Liszt chose to forget that long string of names and asked gently.
“Acheron…” The song siren, still trembling inside her shell, still hugged herself tightly, her voice still as soft as a mosquito’s whisper, “Human, Acheron is… a sea siren… who sings.”
Sea siren?
Liszt raised an eyebrow. If he remembered correctly, sea sirens and song sirens were considered the same species in some knight novels. Those called sea sirens were generally considered evil creatures, while those called song sirens were seen as benevolent beings. But the siren before him didn’t seem like an evil creature.
Probably just a misunderstanding passed down among humans.
Either way, he had gained the initial trust of the sea siren Acheron, so he continued the conversation. “Acheron, may I know why you ended up here? I heard sadness in your song. What happened to you? You can tell me. I am a powerful warrior, and I can help you.”
Acheron inside the shell.
Lifted her head, seemingly sizing up Liszt, and after another long wait, she finally spoke. “Acheron was… chased by Duromiceta… it wants… to eat… Acheron, Acheron is scared… doesn’t dare to return to the sea.” Her voice was beautiful, but her serpentine language was somewhat inaccurate and halting.
“What is Duromiceta?”
“Duromiceta… a sea monster… a six-headed sea serpent, it eats sea sirens… Acheron is scared of it.”
A six-headed sea serpent?
Sounded terrifying. Currently, the strongest fighters near Liszt were Parris, followed by Hiddleston. Parris was still in Flower Town, and Hiddleston was stationed in Port Town. There wasn’t a single capable fighter by his side. Besides, facing a sea monster at sea wasn’t a wise choice.
So after a moment of thought, an inspiration flashed in his mind, and he immediately said, “Acheron, what if Duromiceta finds you here? What will you do?”
“Ah…” Acheron curled up immediately, “Acheron is scared… Duromiceta wants to eat Acheron… Acheron is hiding… Duromiceta will find Acheron…”
“Yes, Duromiceta might find you at any moment. In the sea, sea monsters are extremely dangerous.”
Hearing him mention Duromiceta multiple times and that it might find her, the sea siren became even more frightened, trembling violently, almost on the verge of crying. “Acheron… scared…”
Feeling that the time was right,
Liszt spoke firmly, “Don’t be afraid. I, Liszt Tulip, Lord of Flower Town and Black Horse Island, will not allow any sea monsters to harm the sea sirens here. To protect you, Acheron, I will bring you to my lands and find a suitable refuge for you.”
“Acheron… scared…” The sea siren still hadn’t fully trusted Liszt.
Liszt wasn’t discouraged and continued, “Acheron, do you know the Glory of Knighthood?”
"The Glory of Knighthood, Acheronides knows, humans... just like... the spirit of the sea... The sea monsters are children protected by the spirit of the sea." She said.
What the spirit of the sea was, Liszt did not know, but since the other party understood the Glory of Knighthood, it would be easier to... no, easier to communicate.
"I, Liszt Tulip, swear upon the Glory of Knighthood, to protect the sea monster Acheronides from the great sea beast, Droomicht!"
Without a moment's hesitation, the oath was made.
Liszt had no intention of harming the sea monster; after all, she was a precious gift rewarded from a smoke mission, something to be cherished, not injured: "Acheronides, I'll take you to safety first, and one day, I'll kill Droomicht so you can return to the sea safely, alright?"
In this world, humans often spoke of the Glory of Knighthood, as if it were an inviolable honor.
However, there were no small number of knights who spoke of honor but secretly engaged in dirty dealings.
Yet, to the sea monster Acheronides, this behavior was filled with justice and sincerity. She quietly opened her shell a crack. Lying inside, she twisted her body slightly and peeked outside through the gap.
Liszt was crouching on a stone in the water.
His clothes were already soaked by the sea water, his light golden hair bathed in the faint glow of the morning light, a faint smile on his face, enough to melt any ice.
His sapphire-colored eyes, like countless starlights spinning within, could draw in any woman's heart.
After observing for a long time, Acheronides quietly closed her shell and said, "Human, Acheronides thanks you."
"Call me Liszt."
"…Liszt."
"Then, Acheronides, can you make your way onto the ship by yourself, or should I call my subordinates to help you aboard?"
"Acheronides can swim." With that, the huge white shell rose from the sea water, slowly emerging above the surface like a small boat.
A faint magical power could be seen surrounding the shell, driving the currents.
Liszt held back his pride and stood up, saying, "Acheronides, I'll lead the way, follow me onto the ship. I'll take you to Flower Town, where it's very safe."
The sea monster did not respond.
But the shell slowly followed behind him.
Kosto and the others, standing a hundred meters away, watched helplessly as Liszt brought back the huge shell. Their mouths wide open, they didn’t dare to speak.
As Liszt approached, he said calmly, “Row slower.” He boarded the wooden boat, and upon looking back, the shell seemed hesitant, not daring to come forward.
He comforted it in a gentle tone, “Acheronides, come here.”
The shell slowly followed, staying close to the boat. This sea demon really had a small courage. Liszt didn’t tell the sailors who “Acheronides” was; he simply urged them to row. In no time, they had reached the side of the Flower Ship with the shell.
Liszt stroked the smooth surface of the shell and said, “Acheronides, I’ll send you onto the Flower Ship. It’s safe there. Don’t be afraid.”
There was no response from inside the shell, but it didn’t leave either, which was a silent approval. The sea demon seemed unwilling to speak in front of other humans.
Only then did Liszt feel relieved.
He directed the sailors to throw down the ship’s net, allowing the shell to swim into the net. The sailors pulled hard, and the shell was lifted up. The sea demon inside the shell immediately curled up into a ball as soon as it left the water, shivering again. She was still very afraid, facing this group of strangers.
Liszt had no intention of letting anyone know what was inside the shell.
He directed the sailors in their work, and once the shell was pulled up, he said directly, “Carry the shell to my room. We’re setting sail back.”
