Chapter 293: The Rage of the Ice Flame Potion
by adminAcheronides, the siren, lay on a rocking chair padded with furs, gently swaying.
The rocking chair, tailored to Liszt’s size, was too large for Acheronides, who stood at only 1.55 meters. She didn’t stay inside her shell but instead dragged a long trail of seawater onto the chair. Without legs, she couldn’t venture beyond the confines of her shell.
Luckily, she could control the seawater, forming it into a long ribbon; otherwise, she wouldn’t even be able to leave her shell.
It was a peculiar sight. Without legs, her ankles gradually transformed into seawater. Liszt had always been curious about what that felt like.
He sat beside Acheronides and finally couldn’t resist asking, “Acheronides, what does it feel like below your ankles?”
“Oh, Brother, this seawater is part of me,” she replied shyly. “Although the sensation isn’t as distinct as my flesh-and-blood parts, I can still feel it.”
“Really? Can I study it?” Liszt asked with a gentle smile. “I’m overwhelmed by curiosity.”
Blushing, Acheronides nodded and glanced at Liszt. “If Brother wants, I’ll let you study it. Hehe, humans probably haven’t seen a real siren before.”
With her permission, Liszt didn’t hesitate. He knelt down and gently touched Acheronides’ ankle. Her skin was smooth, soft, and elastic, like a mass of water-molded flesh.
A faint fragrance wafted near his nose—Acheronides’ natural scent.
The delicate texture briefly distracted Liszt, but he quickly regained his focus and began his study. The area where her ankle merged into seawater felt gel-like. Using his Magic Eye, he saw that this area was highly charged with magic, far more than the rest of her body.
“Acheronides, if I were to sever your ankle and the water ribbon, what would happen?” he asked.
After serious thought, she replied, “I would feel very uncomfortable and get hurt. I haven’t matured yet, so I can’t leave my shell.”
Well, Liszt thought, abandoning that idea.
“Then if I touch the seawater, what will you feel?”
“I’ll feel your hand, Brother. It’s the same feeling when Jie La and the baby bugs swim in the water. Well, how should I explain it? The seawater is part of me, but it’s not exactly part of my body. It’s probably similar to what you’ve said about the relationship between spirits and insect grass.”
Even so, Liszt still couldn’t quite grasp what that sensation was like.
Harming insect grass could injure the spirit, and in severe cases, threaten the spirit’s life. However, most spirits could recover even if their insect grass died, generating new seeds and growing into a new plant—albeit severely weakened, they would still survive.
Suddenly, Acheronides asked, “Brother, do you think sirens are a kind of spirit?”
“I don’t know. But even if we are, we are spirits of the sea, different from Jie La.” Liszt ran his hand higher up Acheronides’ calf. The feel was even more pleasant. “You see, Acheronides, your body is quite similar to a human’s, but Jie La’s body is different.”
“Mhm,” Acheronides nodded. “Jie La is like a soft piece of jade, while Acheronides and Brother are made of flesh and blood.”
“That’s why you can wield magic.”
Having satisfied his curiosity, Liszt finally let go of Acheronides’ legs and stood up, gently rubbing her tempting blue hair. “Any new progress with your errant water arrows?”
“Not yet,” Acheronides replied with a bright smile. “But I’ve found the reason. The book *Advanced Concepts for Magicians* has a detailed explanation. It turns out that the reason my water arrows failed was that I hadn’t formed a magic array in my body… Magicians need to engrave magic in the form of arrays within their bodies.”
Liszt had skimmed through some magic books but hadn’t delved deeply into them. “Do these books teach magic arrays?”
“Yes, many of them. Magicians love writing notes about magic runes and arrays,” Acheronides said with a radiant smile. “Brother, it won’t be long before I become a true magician!”
“I look forward to it.”
……
Under the apple tree.
There was also a rocking chair swaying gently, with Liszt sitting on it, lazily enjoying the sunlight.
It was already past February 15th, and just as the local serfs of Flower Town had said, by mid-February every year, winter would disperse.
Several consecutive days of sunny weather had melted most of the snow in Flower Town. The temperature was still below zero, but it was worth going out to bask in the sun.
He rarely allowed the eight little ones and Hiddleston outside.
Perhaps due to the nature of father and son, the eight little ones were very attached to Hiddleston, chasing him around the castle. Dangerous and terrifying mid-level magical beasts, which had become commonplace for the castle servants, were sometimes even forgotten to be intermediate magic beasts, and were instead treated as a pack of dogs.
"Lord Baron, you are truly leisurely." Elkson, wearing a magic cloak, walked over.
"Please sit, Mr. Elkson."
"I have completed the potion preparation of the Ice Flame Mushroom. Surprisingly, this type of cold-loving flame mushroom possesses a fire attribute magic power that far surpasses that of ordinary flame mushrooms. Please examine this potion first," he said, handing over a crystal tube.
The golden-red liquid sloshed inside the crystal tube.
This was the fourth type of magic potion in Flower Town, concocted from the Ice Flame Mushroom, following the black tulip, ordinary flame mushroom, and fast-growing magic thorns.
The technology for cultivating Ice Flame Mushrooms in greenhouses had been developed by the serfs stimulated by coins. After launching a major campaign, they had cleared out fifty acres of mixed greenhouses for cultivating Ice Flame Mushrooms in a short period of time. Liszt hoped to harvest another batch of Ice Flame Mushrooms before the weather warmed up.
This potion preferred cold weather and could not be cultivated in hot weather, making it a seasonal potion. It could only be cultivated for about two to three batches in the three months of winter each year.
However, its potent fire attribute magic power and its habit of growing in winter could well compensate for the slowed or even stagnant growth of various magic potions in winter.
Drinking the potion from the crystal tube, Liszt immediately felt a flame rising in his belly, a heat far stronger than that of ordinary flame mushroom magic potions, almost making him cry out.
The fire attribute magic power surged within him, furiously stimulating cell expansion and absorbing the violent magic power.
If a thermometer were available, Liszt felt his body temperature would reach at least sixty degrees Celsius!
The explosive magic power came and went quickly. After two minutes, everything returned to normal, and after regaining his composure, he felt a significant increase in his internal combat energy.
The effect was indeed intense.
"Very satisfying, Elkson, how many more potions can you make?"
"Unfortunately, the yield of Ice Flame Mushrooms is quite low. It seems we can only make three more Ice Flame potions," Elkson said. Ice Flame potion was the abbreviation for Ice Flame Mushroom magic potion.
Hearing Elkson's words, Liszt felt somewhat disappointed.
It was a great item, but there was too little of it. He decided to store the Ice Flame potion for later use when the effects of the Flame Potion and Thorn Potion wane, using the Ice Flame potion to boost and stimulate.
Using scientific methods allows one to maximize the potion's potential, achieving double the results with half the effort.
