"Brother, Acheronides seems to have picked up some strange information." Acheronides' pupils still swirled like magical vortices, a sign of the super spell Magic Eye in use.
"What strange information?" Liszt asked nonchalantly, still immersed in the awe and joy of opening the Magic Door.
"It's a special composition of magic properties, very odd, almost like the Spatial Magic I've been studying... It really resembles the magical signals from Bard." Acheronides said, then turned to Bard, who had craned his head closer. "Brother, could you ask Bard to gather some Spatial Magic?"
Bard already understood human speech, and Acheronides could command him directly, certain he'd eagerly comply.
But Acheronides was a considerate young siren, respectful of Liszt, the Invisible Dragon Knight.
"No problem."
Liszt immediately communicated with Bard using the Dragon Heart Code.
Bard then opened his mouth and exhaled a void-rending breath, the intense Spatial Magic swirling like white mist, continuously slicing through space. Stones on the ground that touched the mist disintegrated into silent dust—the power of his breath was even stronger than Fire Drake Rio's blazing draconic breath.
After a moment, Acheronides nodded. "Brother, that's enough."
"How is it?" Liszt asked.
"It's definitely the properties of Spatial Magic. Brother, I've grasped the unique movement of magic particles and can now gather Spatial Magic." She raised her left hand, extending a slender, pale finger, a luminous white aura blossomed at its tip.
Then.
She lightly tapped the void with her finger, and it slowly disappeared. But when Liszt activated Magic Eye, he clearly saw the white magical feedback glow from her finger—her finger had pierced the fabric of reality, able to hide like the invisible dragon.
Seeing this, Liszt suddenly understood. The "new elemental avatar for Acheronides" promised by the Misty Task wasn't the expected earth-elemental form.
It was a spatial-elemental avatar.
Sure enough, when he summoned the Misty Task, he found that the Magic Door experiment was complete, and so was the task: "Mission accomplished. Reward: Acheronides' spatial-elemental avatar."
"Incredible!"
"From ancient times till now, there has probably never been an Archmage capable of wielding 'spatial magic' or obtaining a spatial-elemental avatar... Or maybe not. The Great Vortex Magic Teleportation Circle was the work of ancient Archmages—perhaps some among them mastered spatial magic... Regardless, my Acheronides is a once-in-a-millennium genius, terrifyingly talented!"
Though inwardly reeling, he didn't show it. In front of Acheronides, he had to maintain the proper bearing of a dragon knight, erudite scholar, king, and elder brother.
He simply smiled and clapped. "Unbelievable, Acheronides. You've actually mastered spatial magic. Given time, you might be able to open Magic Doors on your own and travel anywhere across the realms."
"Hehe." Acheronides withdrew her finger, still straining to sustain the spatial-elemental avatar. "Now that I have this avatar, my comprehension of spatial magic has grown profound. The Magic Door will soon become a reality! Brother has Invisible Dragon Bard, and I can travel through space with you."
Liszt playfully mussed her hair. "Exactly!"
Bard let out a cheerful cry beside them. "Woo-ee!"
The invisible dragon was quite pleased with itself. Back then, it had relented on its standards to form a pact with Liszt after two battles of will, all because it recognized Acheronides' terrifying talent. Its goal was to stay by her side and rely on her abilities for guidance.
And just as it had envisioned, navigating through space no longer risked getting lost.
"Brother, I need time to adapt and train with the spatial-elemental avatar. But before that, there are still aspects of the Magic Door that require your attention."
"Go ahead."
"The biggest constraint in the magic door research is the contraction of the Mana Network, which compresses the newly formed spatial channel, leading to the collapse of the node entrance. To counteract the compression of the Mana Network, a massive amount of magic power is required, which is impractical—no magic array's energy source can rival the Mana Network."
"Indeed. So, have you thought of any solutions?"
"We can directly seek out natural nodes," Acheronides nodded.
"Natural nodes?"
"Yes. The entrance and exit of the Great Vortex Magic Teleportation Circle are natural nodes. It’s likely that archmages of old discovered these natural nodes, then connected the two, allowing them to permanently etch a wormhole space that resists the compression of the Mana Network. If you can find more natural nodes, Acheronides can also set up permanent magic doors."
"I understand. I’ll work with Bard to locate more natural nodes." The first natural node that came to Liszt’s mind was the ruins entrance at the Moon Killers' Holy Mountain.
Though that Hourglass Valley was somewhat dangerous, establishing an exit there shouldn’t be too difficult.
Once the magic door was opened, the vast territory of the Flame Islands would become far more interconnected.
Acheronides added, "There’s another issue with natural nodes—the connection process between different nodes may not always go smoothly. The Great Vortex Magic Teleportation Circle is an example. The repulsion force in the wormhole space is one-directional, allowing only one-way teleportation. To establish two-way teleportation, we may need two natural nodes with extremely high compatibility."
"I’ll try to find as many natural nodes as possible, then gradually select suitable ones to build magic doors… Honestly, one-way isn’t a big deal. At worst, we can loop around and create other parallel reverse magic doors."
Liszt’s idea was simple.
A one-way magic door would mean, for example, A can only go to B, and B can only go to C—but if another magic door is built where C can only go to A, then B can return to A via C.
Acheronides understood this as well: "Right."
…
Returning to Kindleburg.
Liszt’s excitement hadn’t faded, and he was brimming with ambition about how to find natural nodes and establish magic doors.
At that moment, the smoke before him slowly condensed into Serpent Tongue script—the latest smoke-borne mission.
"Mission: Leo hasn’t returned to the Black Horse Island territory for a long time. Little Yellow, Little Red, and Little Purple are growing slowly, but they cannot ease the loneliness in Feng Qi Wu Tong Da Jing Ling Acheronides’ heart. As the master of the spirit-bug, why not resolve its troubles? Reward: A jade mine."
"A jade mine?"
Liszt lit up with excitement: "We're running low on jade. To meet the demands of the spirit-bugs, Ethan, and the Magic Guild, the monthly expenditure on jade is sky-high. Now, just as we’re in need, a solution arrives… Acheronides’ troubles are easy to solve—we’ll relocate it to Mount Doomsday to keep Leo company!"
