Chapter 345: Ake’s Coming of Age Date
by admin"So, is her name Cris Truth, or is it the person who gave her this silver coin that's called Cris Truth?" Liszt toyed with the coin, thinking.
Using "wish" as the beginning, representing a friend's blessing, indicates that the coin was given to her by someone else.
So, "Cris Truth" could either be the name of the unconscious magician or the name of her friend who gave her the coin.
However, when friends leave a blessing and sign their names, they typically use a dash (—) to separate the message from the name. There is no such symbol on the coin.
The serpent tongue inscription on the back of the coin is written in three lines, so no separating symbol is used, making it unclear whose name it is.
Of course.
These were just fleeting thoughts of Liszt. The other person's name didn't matter much; the coin couldn't solve any identity issues.
"For now, let's assume your name is Cris." Liszt put the pendant back around her neck.
But he had no intention of returning the copper kettle.
Under the local lordship laws, any items washed ashore belong to the Lord, as he owns everything on his land. This includes anyone who washes up, like Cris, who could be considered an illegal intruder subject to arrest.
However, Flower Town, like most lordships, was open to outsiders. As long as they didn't come with malicious intent, they wouldn't be held accountable.
The copper kettle could be considered payment for saving a life.
He was a reasonable and rule-abiding Lord.
"Lord!"
Marcus had arrived, along with several elderly people.
Liszt pointed to the bed. "A magician washed up on the shore and is unconscious, Master Marcus. Can you see if you can wake her up? And you all, check if there are any herbal remedies that might help someone in a coma."
After a brief examination, Marcus shook his head. "Lord, I can't determine her problem. She doesn't show signs of drowning."
The elderly people couldn't figure out the problem either; they only knew how to use simple herbs to treat common ailments.
In a world where magic power and mana are common, knights can constantly improve their physical condition, so they rarely get sick. As a result, medicine is not well-developed. For commoners, once seriously ill, they were essentially waiting for death with no possibility of treatment.
One of the elderly people spoke hesitantly. "Lord, perhaps the magician is simply too weak. She may wake up naturally once her strength returns."
"It's possible," Liszt nodded and said to the footman, "Thomas, please give each of them a copper coin as a token of appreciation for their time."
"Yes, my Lord."
"Thank you, Lord!"
After the elderly people left, satisfied with their copper coins, Liszt turned back to Marcus. "Any thoughts about the magician who washed up on the shore, Master Marcus?"
"Magicians tend to have fragile bodies, much like commoners, unlike us knights who are physically stronger. So I believe she couldn't have been in the sea for too long, and she doesn't show signs of drowning. I suspect she might be a magician from Coral Island or a magician brought by a passing ship."
Liszt said, "Although I don't know how many magicians there are on Coral Island, none of the known magicians match her physical characteristics. She appears quite young, likely no older than twenty-five. It’s unlikely that Coral Island has a magician that young."
"Perhaps she’s a magic apprentice?"
"Magic apprentice?" Liszt mused aloud, "It's possible... But what caused her to fall into the sea, and how did she manage to drift here safely?"
According to Acheronides' account, she found Cris in the ocean, floating on the surface with her clothes—this goes against the laws of physics. The Azure Wave Sea is not the Dead Sea; it can't keep a person afloat.
"I can't explain it, but I believe her supervision must be strengthened. Magicians are dangerous individuals," Marcus said seriously, showing his dislike for magicians.
He had never shown any goodwill toward Elkson and Glanny.
Even less so for an unidentified magician.
After a moment of consideration,
Liszt decided to move her to the residential area, find a house, arrange for someone to take care of her specifically, and have the patrol team keep a close watch. Once she woke up, they would notify him immediately.
Afterward, he used a horn to call for Acheronides: "I've taken the unconscious magician to the town for care, Acheronides. Human magicians are quite dangerous. They have an impulsive curiosity about unknown creatures. You'd better not interact with magicians before you come of age."
"Yes, I understand, brother." The small mermaid looked somewhat dejected, "Unfortunately, my legs still haven't grown. I can't live with my brother like a human."
"That day will come." Liszt gently ruffled her hair.
Then, an idea struck him. He had Acheronides sit on a chair and pulled out a tape measure to measure the length of her leg.
"According to your description, when you were born, your knees down were submerged in seawater, and forty-one years later, only your ankles are still in the water. If we assume your growth rate remains steady, we can use the leg ratio to estimate how many more years it will take for you to reach adulthood."
"Oh, can we really do that, brother?" Acheronides' eyes lit up with excitement.
It was unclear whether she was happy about knowing when she would come of age or because of Liszt's extensive knowledge.
Liszt smiled and lifted Acheronides' leg.
He placed one end of the tape measure on her knee and stretched it to her ankle, measuring forty-one centimeters: "Using typical human proportions, I estimate your foot length to be about twelve centimeters, so we can make a straightforward calculation... Basically, you grow one centimeter per year."
Forty-one centimeters of leg growth in forty-one years.
With about twelve centimeters remaining for her feet, it meant Acheronides had another twelve years until adulthood.
Acheronides' face fell immediately: "Brother, do I really have to wait twelve more years to become an adult?"
Liszt also felt a bit frustrated: "Basically, if nothing unexpected happens and the assumption is correct, your foot growth rate won't exceed your leg growth rate. So, it will indeed take twelve more years... Of course, if your feet turn out to be smaller, maybe ten years or even less."
Acheronides was at most 1.55 meters tall, and her feet wouldn't be large, perhaps resembling feet as small as bound feet.
But in any case, it would take her at least about ten more years to reach adulthood... Ten years later, Liszt would be twenty-seven years old, still considered young, though only just.
