Chapter 840: Mana Positioning
by adminSince the first time crossing the material boundary into the world beyond matter and nearly getting lost within it, the Invisible Dragon avoided flying at top speed again, fearing it might accidentally venture back into that unfathomable realm and become irrevocably lost. After all, that world beyond matter was a dimension the Invisible Dragon currently couldn't comprehend.
After all, it was still a juvenile Invisible Dragon, handling Spatial Magic like a kid swinging a cleaver—sharp, but just as likely to cut itself.
Now, with the node locator, the danger of getting lost was eliminated.
Once Liszt understood how to use this magic equipment, he communicated with the Invisible Dragon Bard. The slender, elegant dragon with flowing crystal-like scales was so excited that it unexpectedly produced two freshly forged Spatial Magic gems onto Liszt’s palm.
"Woo-yah!"
The translucent, shimmering gems, each the size of a fingernail, contained 5-meter-wide pocket dimensions.
"At least it knows gratitude—far better than that thankless Leo," Liszt thought smugly, his petty jealousy over Bard being closer to Acheronides completely evaporating.
He directly gave one of the spatial gems to Acheronides: "You often need to prepare large amounts of experimental materials. Without a spatial gem, it’s inconvenient. This one’s yours." He kept the other for himself, rounding out his set of four spatial rings—barely enough for daily needs.
Two were sufficient for Acheronides. As a siren, she ate little, and as a mage, her magic training wasn’t resource-intensive.
Liszt, however, was different. He carried too many daily necessities; just his training gear took up the space of two gems. Thus, four were just barely enough.
Of course.
With the Invisible Dragon around, he’d soon have more spatial rings than fingers. There was no need to worry about distribution.
...
After only a moment’s thought, Liszt decided to attempt crossing the material boundary.
The method was simple—it was the Invisible Dragon’s innate ability. All it took was flying at full speed. So, with their minds united, magic power and mana fused, forming a seamless whole. Wings fluttering, they swiftly entered the material boundary, streaking through it at breakneck speed.
"Woo-yah!"
When Bard reached its fastest speed, it phased in and out, blinking across hundreds of yards.
"Faster, Bard!"
"Woo-yah!"
Accelerating further, the world seen through the Crystal White Trace became a swirling aurora of magic, reality stuttering like frameskipping. The node locator on Liszt’s chest thrummed like a live wire—the inscribed scales of the Invisible Dragon activating, emitting a unique magic beacon.
Boom!
Suddenly.
The Crystal White Trace’s vision shuddered, the scene abruptly shifting. The node locator only registered vibrations, the buzzing gone. They had arrived in an endless void devoid of light or sound, that deadened all perception—yet the surroundings felt like a lattice of crystal in all dimensions.
No matter how they flew, there was no target to pursue.
"Woo-yah!" Bard cried urgently, feeling the creeping panic of disorientation once more.
But Liszt was prepared. Flaring the node locator’s magic on his chest, a beacon flared to Bard’s left.
"Bard, it’s working! That’s the material boundary we crossed!"
"Woo-yah!"
"Steady—we’ve got a solid lock. No need to fear getting lost. Let’s scan the area and see if we can find a traversable node!"
With Liszt as the anchor, Bard calmed down, gliding smoothly through the extradimensional expanse.
The Crystal White Trace was still operating. Despite the pitch-black darkness surrounding them, Liszt patiently searched for any unusual traces. He had seen these scenes in Bard's memories before and had discussed them in detail with Acheronides, knowing exactly how to respond.
"Bard, focus on searching. Your innate perception of space is your greatest strength. As long as you calm your mind and look carefully, you’ll definitely find a weak point in the material boundary."
"Whee-yah!"
Bard, now fully synchronized with Liszt's thoughts, understood. Guided by Liszt, it began to respond calmly. Then, with a slight flutter of its wings, ripples of special Spatial Magic radiated outward like undulating water. Moments later, the surrounding space echoed back with the fluctuations of Spatial Magic.
Just like a bat's echolocation, the Invisible Dragon could actually use its own Spatial Magic for positioning and searching.
"This skill should be recorded in *The Complete Handbook of Liszt’s Dragon Knight Training* as the Invisible Dragon’s eighth ability—Mana Positioning." Even in such a serious situation, he found the leisure to mentally add a new entry to the Invisible Dragon’s profile.
Previously, the Fire Dragon’s abilities included seven techniques: Dragon Magic Refinement, Dragon Breath Forging, Dragon Force Focus, Dragon Heart Code, Dragon Blood Symbiosis, Dragon-Knight Synchronization, and Dragon Eye Trajectory.
Now, the Invisible Dragon had eight abilities: Crystal White Trace, Material Boundary - Invisibility, Dragon Force Focus, Dragon Heart Code, Dragon Blood Symbiosis, Space-Shattering Dragon Breath, Void Crossing, and Mana Positioning.
These were all skills beyond the *Dragon Aura Manual*, belonging to the innate talents of the dragons themselves.
Some were unique to specific dragons, such as the Fire Dragon’s Dragon Magic Refinement, Dragon Breath Forging, and Elemental Transformation, or the Invisible Dragon’s Space-Shattering Dragon Breath, Material Boundary, and Void Crossing. Others were shared by all dragons, such as Dragon Force Focus, Dragon Heart Code, Dragon Blood Symbiosis, and the slightly different Crystal White Trace and Dragon Eye Trajectory.
The summary might not be comprehensive, mainly because Liszt had been extremely busy lately, and *The Complete Handbook of Liszt’s Dragon Knight Training* hadn’t been updated in a long time.
The thought flashed by.
He continued guiding Bard through the immaterial realm, performing Mana Positioning. In this special space, time stood still, and staying too long set one's nerves on edge. Fortunately, the Node Locator at the entry point was still emitting a continuous response.
Suddenly.
A faint anomaly appeared in the Mana Positioning. Both man and dragon shuddered simultaneously and flew at full speed toward the source of the irregularity, arriving in the blink of an eye. Bard channeled its Spatial Magic with full force, striking the anomalous point. In an instant, the vision of the Crystal White Trace shifted again.
They now found themselves in a twisted, elongated tunnel-like space, spanning the vast magical network and connecting the boundaries of two material worlds.
It was none other than the Great Vortex Magic Teleportation Circle, which Liszt was already very familiar with.
"This… we ended up back here again!" He nearly laughed in embarrassment but restrained himself, merely casting a deep glance at the sprawling magical network stretching into the darkness. An immature Invisible Dragon lacked the power to breach the critical point, so the true form of the Nether Dragon stayed hidden.
Immediately, he reversed course and flew toward the other end of the wormhole space—the massive oceanic whirlpool above the Vortex Archipelago.
Originally, the wormhole space was a one-way teleportation array, with powerful repulsion to push all objects toward the whirlpool entrance at Vortex Mountain.
But this had no effect on the Invisible Dragon.
With a joyful cry of "Whee-yah!" and a few flaps of its wings, it reached the exit in no time. With one final struggle, it broke free from the wormhole space.
The roar of rushing water filled their ears, and a veil of mist obscured their vision.
The damp air brushed against their faces as they shot through the mist in an instant. Liszt and Bard now stood at the entrance of the Vortex Well, having successfully completed a dimensional crossing from the immaterial realm.
Gazing at the spiraling maelstrom and the azure sky above, Liszt finally smiled. "Piece of cake, right?"
