Chapter 0796 Alarmist Talk
byChapter 0796: Dire Warnings
The moment they arrived, they saw Qin Yun seated high above in the grand hall.
Qin Yun sat on the imposing dragon throne of an emperor, his posture exuding authority as he gazed down at the people entering the hall.
The group couldn’t help but admire Qin Yun’s courage for not fleeing—though in truth, he couldn’t escape even if he wanted to, so he had no choice but to bluff his way through.
Despite spotting Qin Yun, none of them made a move, as Lan Suyao had marked him as her target.
Seeing that Xiao Yuemei and the others were unharmed, Qin Yun breathed a sigh of relief. He had been worried that the people from the Profound Domain might take the opportunity to target Bao Changshou and his companions.
Lan Suyao’s face darkened as she strode toward Qin Yun, her voice icy. "Qin Yun, what you did to me earlier is enough to deserve your death a hundred times over. Fortunately, you only have one life—otherwise, no matter how many you had, it wouldn’t be enough!"
"Tigress Lan, if you’re a reasonable person, why don’t you tell everyone who was in the wrong first?" Qin Yun sat on the throne with a regal bearing, his words carrying an overwhelming authority that echoed through the luxurious hall, stunning everyone.
At this moment, Qin Yun appeared unusually confident.
The sheer force of his words even made Lan Suyao halt in her tracks.
"You and I had no prior enmity, yet the moment I entered this desolate domain, you stripped and humiliated me! The only reason I didn’t return the favor was out of respect for my two senior sisters!" Qin Yun sneered. "Tigress Lan, if you keep pushing me, next time I won’t hold back!"
Being repeatedly called "Tigress Lan" sent Lan Suyao into a rage, her chest heaving as she longed to kill Qin Yun.
Yet, she hesitated.
Qin Yun had arrived here first, and his current aura was so overwhelming that it almost made them want to kneel.
Moreover, he showed no fear whatsoever, clearly indicating he had some trump card.
Not just Lan Suyao—even Turtle Immortal muttered cautiously, "Lady Su Yao, be careful. Though this hall is magnificent, it may very well be rigged with traps... This little brat Qin Yun possesses the Dual Mystic Pattern Soul and multiple totems, making him highly skilled in pattern-based traps and the like."
Anyone could see that Qin Yun was utterly unfazed, utterly unafraid.
Those who knew him well suspected he had laid some sort of trap.
"Tigress Lan, if you’ve got the guts, come at me! I’m not scared of you!" Qin Yun taunted with a smile.
"Gui Yangjun, go and drag him down!" Turtle Immortal whispered.
"Turtle Immortal, you’re the expert in pattern formations—why don’t you go? If there are any traps ahead, you’d be the one to spot them! I know nothing about this stuff—are you sending me to my death?" Gui Yangjun retorted with a low grumble.
Gui Yangjun, who had been the loudest in calling for Qin Yun’s death earlier, was now chickening out.
Qin Yun broke into laughter, knowing full well how cowardly they were. "Come on, there’s no trap here! What are you all so afraid of? You’re supposed to be big shots—how can you be this timid?"
Just then, an elder from the Profound Domain stepped forward and whispered, "Lady Su Yao, Qin Yun’s sect leader and friends are here. Why not have them go and capture him?"
Bao Changshou chuckled upon hearing this. "The fact that we haven’t helped Qin Yun fight you off already says a lot. And now you want us to capture him for you? Aren’t you afraid we might side with him instead?"
Jian Shitian grinned. "This hall is built so extravagantly—I love destroying places like this. Come on, let’s have a good fight!"
The Profound Domain elder shouted, "You fools! Aren’t you afraid of Lady Su Yao’s sacred pupil power?"
"I’m a HalfImmortal, unlikely to ever become a true Immortal. I’ve lived long enough—so even if it costs me my life, I’ll protect Qin Yun. He has immense potential and might just become an Immortal. I’ll leave the future to the young!" Bao Changshou laughed heartily.
Hearing his tone, it was clear he was ready to go all out.
A Half-Immortal fighting with reckless abandon terrifies everyone—even Lan Suyao is no exception!
Qin Yun dared to act so boldly only because Bao Changshou and Jian Shitian were present.
"Lan Suyao, answer me—wasn’t it your fault for stripping me naked and hanging me up in the first place?" Qin Yun pressed loudly.
Lan Suyao did not answer. Too proud to ever admit she was wrong.
"Master, let’s drop this for now! You didn’t suffer any real losses, did you?" Zi Qingcheng quickly stepped forward, whispering to Lan Suyao.
"That’s right, Master. Yun’s a good guy. Your fight was just a heat-of-the-moment thing. But if you think carefully, there’s no need for things to escalate to life and death!" Shui Tianzi also approached, holding Lan Suyao’s hand.
Seeing Lan Suyao deep in thought, Zi Qingcheng added, "Master, that brat’s a genius with mystic runes. And as you’ve seen, earlier none of us could move except him. He must have a deep understanding of the formations here!"
"You’ve waited years to get into this Forbidden City of Death—even collaborating with people from Spirit Wasteland to explore it... If we have Yun’s help, we could get twice as much done with half the work!"
From a distance, Xiao Yuemei muttered, "My brother’s a powerhouse. He could hog all the treasures here by himself. Why should we cooperate with her? Elder Bao, Elder Jian, just go with my brother. Let’s take everything here for ourselves."
Jian Ruyan also said, "Exactly! They wanted to kill Yun, yet they still expect him to lead them to the treasures here? Dream on!"
Jian Linglong chuckled. "You might not know this, but during the previous Sword and Rune Tournament, that little devil called Xiao Yun was actually Qin Yun!"
The Mystic Rune Masters present widened their eyes in shock.
"Xiao Yun is Qin Yun? That little punk stole a Sun Pattern!" one of the Mystic Rune Masters from the Profound Domain cursed under his breath.
"So Qin Yun’s the little bastard who beat us!"
"That damn kid swept both tournaments!"
"Gotta admit, the brat’s got skills!"
The people from Demon Wasteland and the Ancient Remnants, hearing the curses of the Mystic Rune Masters, were secretly astonished. That kid up there was way stronger than they thought.
Lan Suyao clenched her fists tightly, gritting her teeth. She wanted to rip Qin Yun to shreds, but it wasn’t happening.
Especially now, knowing that Qin Yun was such an extraordinary young man, it became even harder to act against him.
Because Bao Changshou, the Half-Immortal, would fight to the death to protect Qin Yun!
Gui Yangjun could tell killing Qin Yun was getting harder by the minute.
Qin Yun suddenly spoke. "There’s a crazy-strong dragon here, isn’t there? And dragons hoard many treasures, which must be hidden within this place."
Turtle Immortal shouted, "How the hell do you know that?"
"I know it all! I also know that dragon is the son of the Dragon Immortal Emperor!" Qin Yun laughed.
His words shocked the Ancient Remnants, as this was a secret only known to their elders and rarely disclosed.
"So you can actually get us those treasures?" Lan Suyao finally spoke up, asking.
"No way am I helping you find anything. I don’t even want to find them—I’m just trying to stay alive!"
"After entering, I realized there aren’t many treasures here at all. This whole place is one big altar! Many must die to awaken what’s sealed within."
"And everyone who walks in here is just fodder!"
Qin Yun's expression was extremely grave, yet all these words were fabrications meant to scare these people!
Turtle Immortal immediately shouted, "You're lying! The son of the Dragon Immortal Emperor was sealed here, his soul already annihilated! There's no way he can be revived. It's precisely because he perished completely that the Forbidden Dead City opened!"
Qin Yun sneered, "When you entered the city, did you notice the black clay everywhere? And how it has strong self-healing abilities?"
Zi Qingcheng quickly took out a box and opened it, asking, "Is this it?"
The group erupted in murmurs. They had indeed noticed those things but hadn't paid much attention, as they were everywhere. Though strange, they seemed commonplace.
"This is dragon blood! The son of the Dragon Immortal Emperor died long ago, but he perished outside. His massive dragon body exploded, scattering his blood everywhere!" Qin Yun declared. "There are members of the Dragon Clan here—have them sample it, and you'll know!"
"It's also because so much time has passed that the dragon energy within the blood dissipated, making it hard for you to detect!"
Only a few had collected the black dragon blood. They brought it out and had the Dragon Clan examine it closely.
Before long, a Half-Immortal from the Dragon Clan exclaimed in shock, "It really is dragon blood—and it contains powerful immortal energy! This is the blood of an immortal dragon!"
Upon hearing this, Lan Suyao's expression changed, as this contradicted the legends passed down among their Ancient Remnants.
"Then what is inside here?" Lan Suyao glanced around.
"Something capable of slaughtering the Dragon Immortal Emperor. This thing was likely sealed alongside him but couldn't leave the Forbidden Dead City, so it remains here!" Qin Yun's face grew solemn. "I only realized this after entering. I also discovered that many of the magical inscriptions here have been tampered with, trapping us inside!"
His words immediately sparked panic!
Because after entering the golden-jade hall, they truly couldn't leave!
Xiao Yuemei listened, becoming more anxious, though she suspected Qin Yun was lying. Even she couldn't tell if he was being truthful now.
"Qin Yun, if you can lead us out safely, I'll let you go and guarantee your safe departure from our wasteland!" Though Lan Suyao's voice was icy, an unexplainable dread stirred within her.
Because they were all trapped here now!
Qin Yun sighed. "I should have listened to Bighead's warning. He said the things inside the Forbidden Dead City could destroy this wasteland!"
Lan Suyao snapped, "Enough nonsense. Will you cooperate or not?"
Qin Yun nodded. "I agree, but you must promise not to harm me."
"If I harm you, may I die horribly, my soul scattered!" Lan Suyao vowed. "Now, can you lead us to the next place?"
"Well... I’ll need your help first, because I'm stuck in this chair!" Qin Yun laughed sheepishly. "Come rescue me—there are no traps here except the one beneath me!"
This revelation made many silently curse. Only now did they realize Qin Yun had been bluffing all along!
And they understood why he hadn't run—because he couldn't!
