Chapter 0734 Beast Sacrifice
byChapter 0734: Sacrifice of Ten Thousand Beasts
Qin Yun also felt that Yang Shiyue seemed to be secretly engaged in some grand, mysterious undertaking, though he didn’t know what it was.
Aunt Xiao led Qin Yun as they flew toward the mountain range ahead, where waves of Star Beast energy radiated.
"Aunt Xiao, do you really need Star Cores that much?" Qin Yun asked.
"Yes!" Aunt Xiao nodded.
"Are you short on Purple Crystal Coins? I can give you some!" Qin Yun said with a laugh.
"No need, I have my own! Just help me craft a set of mystic gear—nothing too elaborate!" Aunt Xiao indeed didn’t have many Purple Crystal Coins, which was why she hunted Star Beasts to earn them. She would never accept Qin Yun’s offer.
Qin Yun smiled. "Anything I craft will definitely be the best! Once we return, I’ll craft it for you quickly. Aunt Xiao, what type of weapons and armor do you want? Let’s discuss it now so I can plan ahead."
"You... don’t need design schematics?" Aunt Xiao asked.
"Nope!" Qin Yun grinned proudly. "A Runes Master of my caliber can design his own blueprints!"
It wasn't empty bragging—he truly had the talent to do so.
Aunt Xiao was quietly impressed and then described her ideal mystic equipment.
She knew well that with good weapons, she could gain an advantage in combat and better defenses.
Qin Yun thought Aunt Xiao’s requests were reasonable and memorized them, planning to forge them upon their return.
As they flew through the air, after about half an hour, they arrived above a mountain range blanketed in thick mist.
Below, waves of Star Beast auras infused with Stellar Force emanated.
"Aunt Xiao, there are so many Star Beasts down there—probably tens of thousands—and they’re all motionless!" Qin Yun glanced at the sky. It was broad daylight, and he wondered aloud, "Do these Star Beasts only move at night?"
"No!" Aunt Xiao’s voice grew serious. "There must be something below controlling them!"
"Could it be Sister Shiyue manipulating them from the shadows? If so, we shouldn’t kill these Star Beasts—it might disrupt her plans!" Qin Yun said.
"Mhm, let’s get closer and observe." Aunt Xiao whispered mentally to Qin Yun.
Qin Yun used a Translucent Soul Pearl to make both of them invisible. They descended through the clouds into the dense mountain forest below.
There, they saw the Star Beasts—creatures resembling goats, white all over with horns on their heads.
Unlike ordinary goats, these Star Beasts were massive, several meters long, and radiated intense Stellar Force.
The goat-shaped Star Beasts stood motionless, encircling a massive mountain, their intent unclear.
"That mountain is absorbing energy from the Star Beasts!" Ling Yuner said.
Aunt Xiao seemed to have noticed as well and said softly, "Qin Yun, there’s something strange inside that mountain! Your Piercing Mystic Art should be able to get us in, right?"
"I’ll try!" Qin Yun held Aunt Xiao’s hand as they slowly landed atop the mountain.
The goat Star Beasts were all below, and their position close to the peak kept them hidden from sight.
"Aunt Xiao, notice anything yet?" Qin Yun asked.
"Not yet. Can you use your Piercing Mystic Art to get us inside?" Aunt Xiao asked once they'd landed.
"Sure! I'll take you in to have a look right now!" Qin Yun said, grabbing Xiao Xuanqin's hand as he activated the Piercing Mystic Art.
In the blink of an eye, Qin Yun and Xiao Xuanqin phased through the mountain's thick stone exterior and entered its interior.
However, Qin Yun quickly brought Xiao Xuanqin back out.
Inside the mountain, there was a powerful barrier that blocked him, preventing him from passing through, forcing an immediate retreat.
"There's a barrier protecting the inside of the mountain!" Qin Yun frowned. "I can't pierce through it!"
"This mountain must have an entrance!" Xiao Xuanqin grew even more curious about the mountain.
Suddenly, the bleating of goats echoed from below the mountain.
"Someone's here, and they're attacking those Star Beasts!" Xiao Xuanqin cursed under her breath. "Bastards!"
"Looks like a whole group’s coming! Let's go down and see!" Qin Yun said.
Qin Yun and Xiao Xuanqin cautiously descended the mountain and saw a large group of people attacking the Star Beasts.
"It's Wang Lianghao and his damn crew!" Xiao Xuanqin's stomach turned at the thought of Wang Lianghao and his two companions.
"Qin Yun, should we go and fight?" Xiao Xuanqin asked.
Qin Yun shook his head. "Hold on! This area is relatively dangerous. If they got this far, it means they must have followed their elders!"
"If we rush in recklessly and their Martial King elders suddenly appear, we’re screwed!"
Xiao Xuanqin said, "Then what should we do now? If they kill these Star Beasts, it’ll wreck Shiyue’s plans!"
Qin Yun thought for a moment and said, "We'll have to wait until nightfall."
Only at night could his summoned Netherworld Celestial Lion hold its own, strong enough to deal with Wang Lianghao and his group.
Xiao Xuanqin took out a mask and said, "Qin Yun, I'll go first. You stay here and watch. If I can't hold them off, you step in. How about that?"
"Alright!"
Qin Yun nodded—it was their only option.
Though the goat Star Beasts contained powerful energy, they appeared weak.
Wang Lianghao and his group, all at the Xuanwu Realm, made quick work of them!
Xiao Xuanqin, swinging Qin Yun’s Dao Sword, suddenly appeared behind Wang Lianghao.
As she thrust the sword, the sword energy hummed like plucked zither strings, that sonic force releasing a shockwave.
"Miss Xiao, I know it's you!" Wang Lianghao laughed loudly. "No idea how you slipped past our Master, but now, you’re done for!"
Xiao Xuanqin angrily retorted, "You’re the ones who’ll die, scum!"
Seeing things go south, Qin Yun quickly took out the Mystic King Cannon while still cloaked in invisibility to remain hidden.
Wang Lianghao and his Xuanwu Realm companions stopped attacking the goat Star Beasts and closed in on Xiao Xuanqin.
"Aunt Xiao, fall back!" Qin Yun shouted.
Xiao Xuanqin, gripping the Dao Sword, parried Wang Lianghao’s strikes, shattering his mystic weapon, leaving Wang Lianghao both furious and gutted.
Xiao Xuanqin broke through the encirclement and immediately rushed toward Qin Yun.
"Eat this, you fools!" Qin Yun controlled the Mystic King Cannon and fired a shot.
The beast-oil-refined cannonball erupted into raging flames upon detonation, blasting out searing heat and concussive force.
As Xiao Xuanqin dashed toward Qin Yun, she felt a scorching wave behind her, the shockwave propelling her forward into Qin Yun's arms, making her clutch him tightly.
The sudden collision pressed their bodies closely together, chest to chest, sending her heart racing.
KABOOM!
Just as Xiao Xuanqin's thoughts wandered, Qin Yun fired another shot, the thunderous explosion jolting her back.
She glanced at Wang Lianghao emerging from the inferno and felt a surge of satisfaction—his movements had slowed significantly, his body engulfed in fire.
"Qin Yun, your firepower is insane!"
Xiao Xuanqin exclaimed in awe before surging forward and swiftly beheading one of the sect disciples.
With just a few strikes, she cut down the remaining wounded disciples.
"Wang Lianghao, didn’t expect this, did you? I have top-tier weapons myself!" Xiao Xuanqin said coldly.
Severely burned, Wang Lianghao never imagined Xiao Xuanqin's weapon could be so terrifying, crippling his own artifact.
His armor, already charred and ruined, might as well have been paper as Xiao Xuanqin's blade went clean through.
"Miss Xiao, for old times' sake... spare me..." Wang Lianghao began to beg.
"No mercy for you!" Xiao Xuanqin thrust her sword through his throat, then wrenched it upward, severing his head.
Qin Yun hurried over to harvest the martial souls from the fallen.
"Aunt Xiao, let's get away from this mountain!" Qin Yun urged, pulling her along.
Xiao Xuanqin flew into the air with Qin Yun, sensing several Martial Kings’ presences approaching.
"With so many Star Beasts here, nearby Martial Kings must have sensed them. After this battle and all the commotion, more will come!" Qin Yun said.
They landed on a distant peak, watching the blazing mountain from afar.
Qin Yun left behind a *Spirit Eye Pearl* to monitor the situation.
A pack of Martial Kings showed up—the same ones previously deceived—and upon seeing the Star Beasts, they went to town on them.
Just as Qin Yun was about to mourn, something astonishing happened.
The Star Beasts were suddenly swallowed by the earth, vanishing within moments.
He immediately told Xiao Xuanqin.
"Good. Shiyue’s plan is still on track," she sighed in relief.
"Aunt Xiao, should we go deeper into the Darkmoon Mountains?" Qin Yun asked.
"No need. We'll wait here. The Blue Moon’s due any day now—just a few more days!" Xiao Xuanqin scanned the sky. "That mountain is absorbing the Star Beasts' energy, so it must be luring them in."
"When the Blue Moon rises, that mountain won’t stay quiet!"
Qin Yun was also skeptical yet curious, and watched from afar with Xiao Xuanqin.
After waiting for two days, they sensed waves of energy approaching from all directions!
"The beast horde approaches!" Xiao Xuanqin suddenly soared into the sky.
Qin Yun also flew up and indeed saw distant trees toppling—a sure sign of the approaching beast horde.
At the same time, the oppressive energy of Emperor Wu and Half-Immortals radiated from afar.
Xiao Xuanqin yanked Qin Yun down onto the mountaintop.
"Half-Immortals and Emperor Wu are coming!" Xiao Xuanqin's expression turned grave. "That mountain really must be the key!"
