Chapter 0750: The Previous Life’s Testament
byChapter 0750: Testament of a Past Life
Zhan Qiong compared Qin Yun's appearance and exclaimed in amazement, "For millennia, we thought you would never come!"
"Elder, where is that item?" Qin Yun asked, certain that it was something his past self had left here.
He just couldn’t understand why his former self would leave something in this place.
"Xiao Yun, your past self must have known the Desolate Moon Wasteland very well, which is why you carved out an escape route for Yue You. It seems you had set up a scheme here long ago, but something unexpected must have happened, preventing your return!" Ling Yuner said.
Qin Yun felt the same way.
Now, he also knew who had created the ritual pillars on the walls—it was his past self!
His past self’s mastery of the Art of Odd Patterns was truly remarkable.
Zhan Qiong said, "Although you look exactly like the portrait, I still need to confirm your identity before handing the item over to you."
Qin Yun thought for a moment and replied, "Elder, to be honest, my past self has already died. I have reincarnated, and this body is no longer the same as before."
Zhan Qiong frowned. "You did mention the possibility of reincarnation... So, you’ve lost your memories?"
Qin Yun nodded.
"It doesn’t matter. Even if you’ve reincarnated, I can still verify your identity!" Zhan Qiong took out a gilded box.
The box was exquisitely crafted, radiant gold and engraved with numerous odd patterns.
"Place your hand on it," Zhan Qiong instructed.
Qin Yun placed his hand on the box, and with a "snap," the lid popped open.
Inside was a key!
"Excellent!" Zhan Qiong laughed heartily. "Now you can reclaim that artifact!"
Qin Yun was astonished and asked, "Elder, did I craft this box?"
"You did! You also set up the ward around this courtyard. Our Zhan Clan has been saved many times because of it!" Zhan Qiong explained. "Whenever war broke out and we couldn’t hold our ground, our people would retreat into the courtyard’s ward and survive the crisis."
Now Qin Yun understood. The Zhan Clan was small because if there were too many people, they wouldn’t all fit inside the ward.
"Who would have thought that by chance, I’d come to retrieve something left behind by my past self?" Qin Yun mused inwardly, following Zhan Qiong down a long staircase leading deep underground.
The staircase was incredibly long, descending nearly a mile deep.
At the bottom was an underground pool.
Zhan Qiong pulled up a thick iron chain from the depths of the pool, dragging up a large black sphere.
"Prophet, use that key to open it. I’ll head back up first—no one else can be nearby when it’s opened!" Zhan Qiong said before quickly rushing back upstairs.
Holding the key, Qin Yun stared curiously at the black sphere.
The sphere was waist-high, its surface smooth like obsidian. Under the light, he could see countless intricate odd patterns beneath its polished surface.
"What exactly did my past self leave here? And was it meant for my reincarnated self?" Qin Yun grew even more intrigued as he located the keyhole.
Zhan Qiong had not yet exited the staircase and was still running frantically.
Ling Yuner said, "Xiao Yun, let's guess what's inside!"
Qin Yun thought for a moment and replied, "Maybe a powerful Battle Soul!"
Ling Yuner laughed, "I think it might be a Yang Soul!"
After Zhan Qiong left, Qin Yun inserted the key into the keyhole.
*Click!*
The sphere opened on its own, revealing a small, exquisite moon inside—breathtakingly beautiful.
"This is... a Rune Soul! The Moon Princess Rune Soul!" Ling Yuner was utterly shocked. "Your past life actually stored such a precious Rune Soul here!"
Qin Yun was also overwhelmed by the sudden surprise.
The Moon Princess Rune Soul was even rarer than the Star Monarch Rune Soul, something he had once dreamed of possessing.
And now, he had obtained it just like that!
Ling Yuner was equally thrilled and quickly drew in the Star Monarch Rune Soul to merge with it.
Now, he possessed four Rune Souls: Beast Monarch, Flame Berserker, Star Monarch, and Moon Princess!
Any one of these would drive others to madness with envy, yet he had four at once!
Qin Yun also noticed a piece of black beast pelt. When he unfolded it, he saw words written on it.
"If your memories have returned, there's no need to read this! If your memories aren't fully awakened, remember the following!"
The first line immediately sent a jolt through Qin Yun—these were clues left by his past life for his reincarnated self.
"First, if you encounter enemies from your past life, especially women, don’t hold it against them. They will understand in time."
"Second, before reaching cultivation to sainthood, avoid conflicts with the Demon Immortal Emperor and the Celestial Emperor."
"Third, the Yang Emperor Rune Soul is in the Holy Barrens. Don’t waste time searching in the Immortal Wasteland."
"Fourth, find a woman named Yao Fang. If she is still alive, have her retrieve the 'Nine Suns Annihilation Canon' from the Demon Immortal Emperor's memories."
"Fifth, if Yue You cannot obtain the Dark Moon, use the Moon Princess Rune Soul to craft one for her. The method is carved inside the shell—examine it carefully."
"Sixth, try not to awaken all your memories, or you may die again."
Qin Yun was stunned after reading this. His past life seemed to have foreseen his death and reincarnation long ago.
He was amazed by the serendipity—having no awakened memories yet stumbling upon this place by sheer luck.
"Yun-er, why did my past life warn me not to awaken my memories?" Qin Yun was deeply curious.
"Your past life surely knew some incredible secret. If you awaken those memories, you might walk the same doomed path!" Ling Yuner said.
Qin Yun examined the cracked black shell of the sphere. Inside were indeed many inscriptions. A brief look showed that this shell could actually give rise to a Dark Moon!
Moreover, the Dark Moon in the Dark Moon Barrens was also forged using such a shell.
The method was complex, beyond Qin Yun’s present strength, so he could only tuck the shell away for now.
Qin Yun walked up the stairs, kept shouting up at Yao Fang in the third bead.
"Yao Fang, Yao Fang, I'm about to die!" Qin Yun yelled. He hadn’t wanted to deceive her, but he had no other choice.
For two whole years, he’d called out to Yao Fang daily, but she never responded.
Now, Yao Fang finally answered—and even emerged from the second bead!
"What's wrong?" Yao Fang asked, but upon seeing Qin Yun perfectly fine, her eyes blazed with anger.
She hated being lied to by Qin Yun the most!
"You—you lied to me again!" Yao Fang roared.
Qin Yun quickly handed her the beast hide and hurriedly told her about the Moon Princess Mystical Pattern Soul.
When Yao Fang saw the hide, her anger suddenly faded, replaced by a deep frown.
"Nine Suns’ Apocalypse Scripture, Nine Suns’ Apocalypse Scripture... it’s actually in the Demon Immortal Emperor’s memories!" Yao Fang murmured in astonishment.
"Yao Fang, what is the Nine Suns’ Apocalypse Scripture?" Qin Yun asked eagerly, burning with curiosity.
"You... don’t need to know! If I find it, I’ll pass it on to you!" Yao Fang stared at the hide. "You little schemer—what else are you hiding?"
Qin Yun pouted. "I wish I knew too! Yao Fang, the curse I got you stuck with might’ve had another goal—it wasn’t meant to harm you, was it?"
Yao Fang snorted. "Why the hell didn’t you say something earlier?!"
"I... I didn’t know either! It was all my past life’s doing!" Qin Yun sighed. "So, what do we do now?"
"Just do what your past self’s letter says!" Yao Fang handed the hide back to Qin Yun.
"Yao Fang, can’t you just tell me what’s in the third bead?" Qin Yun grinned.
"No. When you reach the Xuanwu Realm, I’ll tell you!" Yao Fang huffed before popping back into the Nine Sun Divine Bead.
"Who cares? I scored the Moon Princess Mystical Pattern Soul anyway, hahaha..." Qin Yun cheered, bouncing around like a kid as he bolted up the stairs.
The beast hide contained more information.
The Moon Princess Mystical Pattern Soul had been extracted and hidden here by his past self because, out of all mystical pattern souls, this one’s the rarest and insanely useful.
"Looks like my past self wasted ages hunting for the Sun Emperor Mystical Pattern Soul!" Qin Yun chuckled.
"The Sun Emperor Mystical Pattern Soul is used to carve Sun Patterns! No Sun Patterns? Then it’s worthless!" Ling Yuner remarked.
"True!" Qin Yun reveled in the Moon Princess Mystical Pattern Soul, his joy growing.
With it, he’d be able to power up his Moon Patterns, even improving their quality.
Qin Yun exited the staircase but found Zhan Qiong nowhere in sight.
Leaving Zhan Qiong’s courtyard, he found the area completely empty.
"Outside the great wall!" Ling Yuner called.
Qin Yun sensed many people outside and quickly turned invisible in a flash before flying out.
Zhan Qiong stood there with a crowd of War Clan disciples, faces dead serious.
The War Tribe, with only a few thousand members, found themselves surrounded by hundreds of thousands of people.
Those hundreds of thousands were also natives of this land, all riding giant wolves, their presence downright terrifying.
Qin Yun was shocked to see the native tribes here had so many people.
"Zhan Qiong, as long as you submit to our Mad Wolf Tribe, we will let your tribe live. Otherwise, even if you survive today, we will trample the tribe you’ve painstakingly built into ruins!" A tall and burly elder from the Mad Wolf Tribe bellowed with crazed laughter.
The battle-scarred elder from the Mad Wolf Tribe had an incredibly robust physique, and the energy fluctuations emanating from him were at the Martial King level!
Though the War Tribe was small in number, they showed no fear at this moment.
Zhan Qiong growled, "Mad Wolf Tribe, for tens of thousands of years, you’ve never conquered us! Now, you'll never break us!"
At this moment, several elders of the War Tribe stepped forward, while the others retreated behind the massive walls of the tribe, entering Zhan Qiong’s courtyard.
Then, Qin Yun suddenly appeared beside Zhan Qiong and whispered, "Elder, do you need my help?"
Zhan Qiong knew Qin Yun’s strength was no match for the opposing side, which had several Martial King-level experts.
