Chapter 0735 Moon Demon
byChapter 0735 Moon Demon
The scenes that Qin Yun and Xiao Xuanqin witnessed next were all extremely eerie.
Star Beasts from all directions would suddenly vanish without a trace as they approached that mountain.
At this moment, people within the Shadowmoon Mountain Range were converging, having followed the beast horde.
Some tried to attack the beast horde but were held back by a few Half-Immortals and Martial Emperors.
Those Martial Emperors and Half-Immortals, being worldly-wise, had already guessed something.
"Sect Leader!" Qin Yun spotted Bao Changshou from afar.
Jian Shitian, the Cloudfiend Matriarch, and other sect leaders of great sects were also present.
"The Sect Leader of Immortal Weapon City is here too? That’s good!" Xiao Xuanqin felt much more at ease now, as she had heard that Immortal Weapon City strongly protected Qin Yun.
"Aunt Xiao, that stern-faced old lady is the Cloudfiend Matriarch! She’s the Sect Leader of Moonfiend Isle. She may look stern, but she’s actually very kind!" Qin Yun chuckled. "If you ever decide to go to Moonfiend Isle, I can take you there right now!"
"Can... can I really enter Moonfiend Isle?" Xiao Xuanqin felt somewhat lowly and worried she might face exclusion.
"Don’t worry! Moonfiend Isle has secretly been in contact with Sister Yang. I was given favored status before, and they even bent the rules to let me become their only male disciple!" Qin Yun grinned proudly.
Xiao Xuanqin nodded. "Alright, let’s go over!"
She drew a veil over her lower face and flew over with Qin Yun.
Qin Yun also disguised himself simply, appearing as a disheveled rogue warrior.
As he approached, he sent a mental transmission to Bao Changshou: "Sect Leader, it’s me, Qin Yun!"
Bao Changshou had come with Chu Binyu, while the Cloudfiend Matriarch was accompanied by Hu Jingxian and an elderly woman.
Jian Shitian had brought Jian Nanhu and a middle-aged man.
Jian Nanhu and the middle-aged man bore some resemblance—likely his father.
Bao Changshou quickly glanced at Qin Yun and muttered under his breath, "Qin Yun, be careful not to expose yourself! The Martial Emperors and Half-Immortals here are from several major regions!"
"I know!" Qin Yun then sent a mental transmission to Hu Jingxian: "Fox Sister, it’s me, Xiao Yun! I’m here to introduce a new disciple to your Moonfiend Isle!"
He pulled Xiao Xuanqin forward and gently pushed her toward Hu Jingxian.
Xiao Xuanqin observed Hu Jingxian and couldn’t help but marvel. Though Hu Jingxian was bewitchingly seductive, her charm carried an otherworldly grace—an oddly contradictory yet natural presence that felt inexplicably mesmerizing.
Hu Jingxian communicated with Xiao Xuanqin through mental transmission, seemingly having a delightful conversation, her face alight with delight.
After a while, Xiao Xuanqin sent Qin Yun a message: "Qin Yun, she seems to have known about me already! Did Yuelan tell her?"
"Probably!" Qin Yun laughed. "Have you decided to join Moonfiend Isle for sure?"
"Yes! I’ve made up my mind! Qin Yun, this Hu Jingxian is extraordinary. She seems merely at the Profound Martial Realm, yet she gives off an overwhelming presence—her strength is definitely no less than a Half-Immortal!" Xiao Xuanqin transmitted. "How much do you know about her? She feels so mysterious to me!"
"Really? I’ve known her for quite a while—how did I never pick up on it?"
Qin Yun was surprised. He had been flirted with by Hu Jingxian many times but never sensed anything unusual.
KABOOM!
The mountain suddenly trembled violently and then exploded!
This interrupted the secret conversation between Xiao Xuanqin and Qin Yun.
In the sky around the mountain, there were over ten thousand people, all of them powerful.
Witnessing this scene, they exclaimed in astonishment.
After the mountain exploded, it shattered the earth for several kilometers around.
At the center of the devastation, a colossal silver coffin, a hundred meters long, emerged, emitting a lunar radiance.
This surprised Qin Yun and Xiao Xuanqin, as they had expected the mountain to react only with the Blue Moon's emergence.
Yet, countless Star Beasts continued charging toward the giant coffin!
Upon touching it, they dissolved into waves of Stellar Force, which the coffin absorbed.
Suddenly, an elder in green robes declared loudly, "I am the Phoenix Province King—just call me the Phoenix King! My journey here is not for the Star Monarch Rune Soul!"
Many Half-Immortals snorted in derision.
Hearing their disdain, the Phoenix King smiled faintly. "I came here to enter the Darkmoon Wasteland! And this coffin—once opened—will lead us there!"
"None of you knew this, did you?"
The Half-Immortals scoured their memories but found no trace of such knowledge.
"Aunt Xiao, have you heard of the Darkmoon Wasteland?" Qin Yun transmitted.
"I... I have!" Her eyes betrayed a flash of fear. "Back in the Guanghan Palace, Yang Shiyue mentioned it once. She only said it was a terrifying place that inexplicably appeared in the Spirit Barrens!"
"Could the Darkmoon Mountain Range have been sealing the Darkmoon Wasteland? And now, its rupture must be Sister Yang’s doing!" Qin Yun wondered.
"Very likely!" Xiao Xuanqin agreed.
Jian Shitian asked, "Phoenix King, tell us—what lies within the Darkmoon Wasteland?"
The Phoenix King tugged his beard with a knowing chuckle. "Inside, there is a moon born of the Netherrealm—the Dark Moon! It has been sealed in the Darkmoon Wasteland for ages. The Dark Moon is mysterious; its true might eludes me, but it must be something extraordinary!"
Qin Yun discreetly observed Hu Jingxian and the Cloudcrone Matriarch—their expressions remained calm, as if they already knew.
Both the Dark Moon and the Dark Sun were enigmatic existences, the stuff of legends even in the Immortal Wasteland.
Qin Yun and Yang Shiyue only possessed the Dark Sun Martial Spirit and the Darkmoon Martial Spirit, respectively.
The true Dark Sun and Dark Moon, however, remained lost.
"Yuner, what’s going on?" Qin Yun asked.
"The Dark Moon has always existed! And there are multiple incarnations! The Netherworld’s moon is just one kind!" Ling Yuner replied. "What’s so strange about that? Across the celestial expanse, there are even more Dark Suns and Dark Moons!"
"Then what might be inside the Darkmoon Wasteland?" Qin Yun pressed.
"Only death! Any land perpetually veiled in the Dark Moon, without the Nine Sun’s light, becomes horrifying—breeding countless malefic wraiths!" Ling Yuner said. "Of course, there might also be nothing at all!"
The crowd hovered midair, discussing the Darkmoon Wasteland. A murmur of anticipation swept through the crowd.
They unanimously agreed it warranted investigation!
Never mind whether there's anything inside, with so many Star Beasts sacrificing themselves now, something's definitely going to be unleashed.
Night fell, and the number of Star Beasts was gradually decreasing!
At this moment, the moon in the sky was giving off a pale blue glow!
"It's not a true Blue Moon yet, nor is it a full moon!" Xiao Xuanqin looked at the moon in the sky. "It should be tomorrow!"
"The coffin lid is opening!" someone yelled out.
Everyone immediately turned their gaze to the hundred-meter-long silver coffin gleaming in the moonlight—the lid had actually budged open slightly.
Bang!
The lid had only inched up before slamming shut again.
A collective gasp of horror rose from the crowd.
Then the coffin lid began creeping up again.
This time, it lifted slightly higher than before.
Bang!
Yet, the lid still couldn't open completely, falling shut again with an earth-shaking boom.
For some reason, Qin Yun suddenly felt a chill run down his spine, his whole body going cold.
He quickly reached out to hold Xiao Xuanqin's hand beside him, drawing comfort from the warmth of her delicate hand.
Xiao Xuanqin looked at him in confusion—there was no reason for them to be holding hands now, though she did enjoy the feeling...
"Aunt Xiao, I'm scared!" Qin Yun transmitted to her. "I don't know why, but I'm scared shitless!"
"You silly boy, what’s there to be afraid of? Remember back in Tianxiao Emperor's Tomb, we faced so many coffins, and you weren’t scared at all!" Xiao Xuanqin quickly pulled him closer, keeping him by her side.
She knew Qin Yun wasn’t lying—she could feel his hand shaking uncontrollably, which shocked her.
She had always known Qin Yun to be fearless, yet now he was inexplicably terrified.
Running her fingers gently over his trembling hand, she said, "Don’t be afraid, nothing will happen. We've got plenty of HalfImmortals here! I’ll try to contact Shiyue soon and ask her what’s going on!"
Ling Yuner suddenly transmitted to Qin Yun as well, shouting, "Xiao Yun, you need to get the hell out of there now!"
"Wh-why?" Qin Yun asked.
"A Moon Demon is about to appear! Those falling stars didn't come from Sister Yang—it was the Moon Demon itself calling them down!" Ling Yuner urgently explained. "Moon Demons are born from the Netherworld's dark moons. There might be a Nethermoon Wasteland here, but it’s been sealed!"
"I suspect this Moon Demon was once kept in check by the Moon Palace and later sealed. After the Moon Palace was destroyed, the seal on the Moon Demon weakened over time!"
Qin Yun frowned. "Is this why I’m so afraid?"
"Yes! You have a Nether Sun Martial Soul—it's like candy to a Moon Demon! At your current strength, you don't stand a chance against it at all! That terror you're feeling? That's me, because I’m terrified of that thing!" Ling Yuner urged. "You need to escape, now!"
Qin Yun quickly transmitted to Hu Jingxian, asking, "Sister Fox, what’s inside that coffin? Is it something terrifying?"
"Little Brother Yun, you should get out while you still can! That thing is horrifying. Even with all these HalfImmortals around, I don’t know if they can suppress it!" Hu Jingxian replied.
After a moment of thought, Qin Yun relayed this to Bao Changshou.
Upon hearing it, Bao Changshou only told Qin Yun to leave—he wanted to see this thing for himself.
"Aunt Xiao, let’s put some distance between us and this place!" Qin Yun said.
"Alright!" Seeing how frightened Qin Yun was, Xiao Xuanqin gave Hu Jingxian a meaningful look before flying away with Qin Yun.
At that moment, she suddenly transmitted excitedly, "I think I'm getting through to Shiyue! I’ll ask her about the giant coffin!"
