Chapter 0890 Internal Strife
byChapter 0890: Infighting
"The soul of the Dark Sun might be inside the *Xuan Domain*! Must I enter the *Xuan Domain* ahead of time?" Qin Yun recalled the route on the map and flew in a certain direction.
There was a safe path leading into the *Xuan Domain*.
Following that path would allow entry into the *Xuan Domain*, but it didn’t mean the journey would be completely safe—it was just relatively safer compared to other areas.
On that path, there were still powerful beasts.
Without sufficient strength, traveling along that path would make one an easy target for attacks from beasts.
Qin Yun had superior concealment skills, but he still decided to take the river path.
If he crossed through unknown wastelands and encountered natural barriers or hazards, he could be trapped for a long time.
If he was unlucky enough to stumble upon a beast den, the situation would worsen.
"The reason that path is considered safe is because there aren’t any overly dangerous natural hazards along the way. As long as one is careful, even Martial Kings and Emperor Wu could traverse it!" Qin Yun soared swiftly through the air, guided by the map in his mind.
After several days of flight, he finally reached the safe path. There were many looming mountains here, all marked on the map, making them visible from afar.
"I wonder what the situation inside the *Xuan Domain* is like! I hadn't planned to enter this soon!" Qin Yun thought to himself.
"Entering early isn’t a bad thing! The Jian Clan will storm it eventually!" Ling Yuner laughed. "If things go smoothly, many sects from the Spirit Wasteland's Fan Domain will follow!"
"I wonder if the people from the Demon Moon Island will take part in the assault when the time comes," Qin Yun said.
"The Jian Family and others will surely dispatch scouts first to investigate before making any decisions. Don’t worry too much—focus on finding the soul of the Dark Sun first!" Ling Yuner said.
Qin Yun nodded and flew swiftly along the route marked on the map.
Thanks to his concealment, even if he flew faster, he wouldn’t be detected.
As Qin Yun flew through the air, he encountered many powerful beasts, some even in human form—Martial Kings, Emperor Wu, and even HalfImmortal-tier creatures!
What shocked him the most was that some beasts had preternatural awareness and managed to sense his presence!
But those beasts didn’t attack him.
Not all beasts actively attacked humans.
Since he wasn’t attacked, Qin Yun refrained from provoking the powerful beasts either. He just wanted to reach the *Xuan Domain* quickly, then pinpoint the location of the Dark Sun soul and continue his search.
"The path to the *Xuan Domain* is really long!"
Qin Yun found it strange as he flew—the areas he passed through were all desolate.
There wasn’t a single plant in sight, just plains of yellow earth and flying sand or barren stone peaks, with very sparse spiritual energy.
"This region must have suffered some cataclysm to become like this! And yet, there are still so many powerful beasts here!" Qin Yun mused.
"This area is wholly inhospitable for human activity—there’s no spiritual energy or medicinal herbs! Maybe that’s why it severed the connection between the *Xuan Domain* and the Fan Domain," Ling Yuner said. "I wager these lands must have been the site of some great battle in ancient times."
"According to the map, I might have to fly for another two months before reaching the *Xuan Domain*," Qin Yun said. His speed wasn’t slow, but the distance was simply vast beyond measure.
Qin Yun’s journey was relatively safe—even when encountering beasts, no altercations occurred.
"The Spirit Wasteland is truly vast!"
Qin Yun couldn't help but sigh. Just the distance between the Mortal Domain and the Mystic Domain required two to three months of rapid flight.
At night, Qin Yun landed on a large rocky mountain, intending to dig out a cave to rest in.
Suddenly, a violent gust of wind swept in, carrying a shockwave of energy.
The energy surge caused many weathered stones to break off the mountain, tumbling down below.
"Someone is fighting!" Qin Yun exclaimed inwardly.
"Go take a look! At your current level of cultivation, even a Half-Immortal would have a hard time capturing you!" Ling Yuner said.
Qin Yun flew, heading toward the direction of the energy wave.
As he got closer, he sensed a familiar aura!
"That aura... it’s Ying Chengyu’s! Who is this guy fighting?" Qin Yun was quite familiar with Ying Chengyu’s aura.
Ying Chengyu had once been the sect master of the Immortal Armory Palace, a powerful Half-Immortal. This man was morally ambiguous—sometimes decent, sometimes wicked.
The battle ahead was fiercely intense, with many mountains being obliterated.
Mountains thousands of meters high were shattered into countless rocks of varying sizes by the devastating shockwaves, scattering everywhere.
By the time Qin Yun arrived, the area had already been flattened.
This fierce battle involved multiple Half-Immortals.
Qin Yun didn’t approach, wary of being swept up in the battle, and just watched from afar.
"Ying Chengyu, hand over that map, and we promise not to kill you!" The speaker was an elder.
Hearing the elder’s voice, Qin Yun was even more astonished.
That elder was actually the former Qianyun Island Lord!
Ying Chengyu and the Qianyun Island Lord should have been friends, yet now they were fighting.
Qin Yun also noticed that there were seven other Half-Immortals present!
With the Qianyun Island Lord and the seven others, that made eight in total!
Unless Ying Chengyu possessed extraordinary strength, he stood no chance against eight Half-Immortals alone.
Though Qin Yun was far away, through careful sensing, he identified the other seven Half-Immortals by their auras.
They were the leaders of the Mystic Glyph Temple!
"Ying Chengyu got betrayed by his own allies!" Qin Yun couldn’t help but laugh.
"Serves him right!" Ling Yuner chuckled. "Little Yun, see if there’s a chance to grab something valuable!"
"Not likely! I’ll just watch the show. Those are eight Half-Immortals—if they surround me, I’d be hard-pressed to escape!" Qin Yun shook his head.
From high in the sky, Qin Yun analyzed the battle through the fluctuating energy signatures.
"Ying Chengyu is remarkably skilled. Despite being surrounded for so long, he hasn’t been defeated yet!" Qin Yun remarked in surprise.
"Well, he was once the sect master of the Immortal Armory Palace. Of course he has some tricks up his sleeve!" Ling Yuner chuckled. "Question is, how long can he last?"
"Ying Chengyu can only barely hold on! It seems there won't be a situation of mutual destruction!" Qin Yun sighed disappointedly. If Ying Chengyu had been strong enough to fight the eight Half-Immortals to a mutual standstill, he might have had a chance to move in for the kill.
Ying Chengyu, while fighting, roared angrily, "You damned mongrels! How many times must I say it? That map isn’t in my possession!"
"Ying Chengyu, you can’t fool me! You got that map long ago. Hand it over to compensate for our losses! If you hadn’t led us to the Immortal Armory Palace, we wouldn’t have lost our nautical chart!" The Qianyun Island Lord sneered.
"Nonsense! That nautical chart was worthless anyway! It’s not worth more than a few Purple Crystals! Don’t use that as an excuse!" Ying Chengyu bellowed in fury.
"But we lost face—that's what really matters!" one of the elders from the Rune Temple said coldly. "Hand over that map! It’s useless to you anyway!"
Ying Chengyu shouted, "I really don’t have it! Even if you kill me, I can’t produce it because I truly don’t have it!"
Boom! Boom! Boom!
After this exchange, the battle reignited with fury.
Qin Yun listened with great curiosity, thinking to himself, "A map? What kind of map could it be? This Ying Chengyu is quite a piece of work—whatever he has must be important!"
"Xiao Yun, that map must be hiding something!" Ling Yuner said. "Ying Chengyu may be full of schemes, but he’s bound to have some valuable treasures. He once possessed the Flamefury Rune Soul!"
"Exactly! The question is, what’s the purpose of that map? It’s actually made the Qianyun Island Lord and the others turn against each other mid-trip!" Qin Yun chuckled.
After leaving the Immortal Armory Palace, Ying Chengyu and the others had headed for the Profound Domain once their injuries healed. Yet, they suddenly clashed over this mysterious map along the way.
The Qianyun Island Lord shouted again, "Ying Chengyu, if you don’t hand over that map, you’ll die a miserable death!"
Boom!
A deafening explosion rang out, followed by Ying Chengyu’s blood-curdling scream, echoing across the barren yellow wasteland.
"That guy’s been captured!" Qin Yun’s heart raced as he descended to the ground and cautiously approached.
When he arrived, he saw Ying Chengyu face-down in the dirt, his hands and feet bound by golden chains, with large talismans slapped across his chest and back.
The Qianyun Island Lord stomped on Ying Chengyu’s aged face and sneered, "Ying Chengyu, if it weren’t for you, I wouldn’t have dragged my ass all the way to the Immortal Armory Palace just to be humiliated! You made me lose face in front of so many people—you owe me!"
"You bastard… You only lost face at the Immortal Armory Palace! Who in the Qianyun Island would even know about it?" Ying Chengyu cursed. "I warned you before—there was a powerful immortal inside the Immortal Armory Palace! You were the fool who thought you could threaten them!"
"Bullshit! I lost an Immortal Life Crystal and didn’t even catch a glimpse of the Heavenly Lion Subduing Dragon Cauldron! This is all your fault! You got me beaten up and cost me my spirit-navigation disk!" The Qianyun Island Lord dug his heel deeper into Ying Chengyu’s face. "Enough nonsense! Hand over the map you stole, and I won’t kill you—I’ll just leave you here!"
Ying Chengyu bellowed, "You mongrels, hear me and hear me clear! I, Ying Chengyu, never got my hands on that map! Someone framed me! If you don’t believe me, just kill me!"
The Qianyun Island Lord cackled. "You’ve got some backbone! Not even afraid of death! Fine, before you die, I’ll give you a taste of the tortures of hell! Hahaha…"
The other Half-Immortals from the Rune Temple also leered viciously.
"Ahhh!"
Ying Chengyu suddenly screamed as a serrated blade pierced his shoulder.
"Is the map on you or not?" the Qianyun Island Lord demanded furiously.
"No! It’s really not with me! Just let this old dog live—I’m nothing but a half-dead cur! Stop torturing me!" Ying Chengyu wailed.
