Chapter 0456: Subterranean Giant Crocodile
byChapter 0456: Subterranean Giant Crocodile
The other Martial Kings were all highly vigilant as they watched Wu Mingxu. Someone capable of extracting a Martial King's Dao Dan in one move must possess immense strength, far surpassing their own.
However, they still believed that with several Martial Kings on their side, they had a good chance of defeating Wu Mingxu if they launched a surrounding attack together!
Wu Mingxu stood beside Qin Yun and the others, knowing he couldn't leave their side for even a moment, or the enemy would exploit the opening.
"No matter who you are, by seizing and devouring Dao Dans, you have committed a forbidden act. We will capture you!" bellowed a Bloodline Martial King, his aged face filled with anger. "Charge together!"
In the midst of a battle involving multiple Martial Kings, Qin Yun and the others were caught in the crossfire. Even if they weren't directly attacked, they would still be affected. At that point, Wu Mingxu would have to allocate some of his power to protect them.
This was also the assumption of those Martial Kings. They believed that Wu Mingxu would inevitably allocate some of his power to protect Qin Yun and the others.
However, just as they moved forward, Wu Mingxu waved his hand, and several cold glints of light shot out. Sharp daggers flew through the air, piercing through the hearts of those Martial Kings.
Then, the bloodied daggers returned to Wu Mingxu's hands!
Qin Yun and the others were completely astounded when they saw this. He could tell that Wu Mingxu had used an immense amount of mental energy to control the daggers, a feat that demonstrated an extremely high level of weapon control.
Of course, those daggers were far from ordinary weapons!
The daggers in Wu Mingxu's hands were just a bit longer than a finger, very compact, and engraved with many intricate runes.
As a sword cultivator, even when using other weapons, he favored items akin to concealed blades.
The bodies of those Martial Kings, pierced by the daggers, remained frozen in place, as if immobilized.
"The daggers also contain the power of immobilization runes!" Qin Yun was astonished, never imagining immobilization runes could be employed like this.
Wu Mingxu charged forward, and in the blink of an eye, he plucked out Dao Dans from the abdomens of those Martial Kings. Then, he sent the daggers flying again, slaying all the Xuan Martial realm practitioners.
"Who exactly are you?" bellowed a Bloodline Martial King, furious and terrified after losing his Dao Dan.
Wu Mingxu's strength was clearly far superior to these Martial Kings. He didn't answer but instead walked over to a Bloodline Martial King, grabbed his throat, and began absorbing his inherited bloodline.
In an instant, that Martial King was reduced to a desiccated husk!
"You... you're a Martial Emperor?" yelled another Bloodline Martial King, but before he could finish, he too was drained dry.
"Don't get too arrogant! Our Bloodline Clans also have Martial Emperors!"
Wu Mingxu's expression remained unfazed as he dashed over and drained that person's blood as well.
"So what if your clans have Martial Emperors? They won't know who killed you! Blame them for not coming themselves!" Wu Mingxu laughed heartily as he proceeded to suck the lifeblood from the remaining Martial Kings one after another.
At this moment, Mu Fengxiao returned. His usual smile faded as he saw several blood-drained Martial Kings lying on the ground.
"Little fatty, how many Ghost King Essences did you get?" Wu Mingxu asked, turning to Mu Fengxiao.
"More than ten!" Mu Fengxiao quickly ran over and handed the Ghost King Essences to Wu Mingxu.
Wu Mingxu took the essences and immediately absorbed their energy. "I've mostly recovered now. We can set off!"
Mu Fengxiao felt a surge of excitement. They were finally heading to the main burial chamber.
Wu Mingxu released a burst of flames, incinerating the corpses on the ground.
Then, he walked around the hall, counting the stone tiles on the floor.
The spacious hall was paved with massive stone tiles, each spanning two to three meters wide, making them enormous slabs of stone.
After pacing back and forth for nearly half an hour, Wu Mingxu stood on a particularly large stone tile. He closed his eyes and unleashed a surge of intense mental energy, which permeated the massive stone tile.
Soon after, the stone tile slowly began to rise.
Once Wu Mingxu had fully lifted the tile, a bottomless square chasm was revealed beneath it.
Using his mental energy to hold the stone tile aloft, Wu Mingxu walked to the edge of the chasm and said to Qin Yun, "I'll go first, then the little fatty, and you all come last!"
At this, he jumped down.
Below was pitch-dark, but Mu Fengxiao boldly followed, reassured by the presence of the formidable Wu Mingxu leading the way.
Qin Yun, Shui Tianzi, and Zi Qingcheng descended last.
After they descended, the stone tile slowly lowered, sealing the entrance.
Without Wu Mingxu, they would never have guessed that such a secret passage existed in the hall.
Once they descended, they used their energy to hover in the air and took out glowing stones to light their way.
The walls were rigid stone, etched with strange patterns.
The chasm was over a thousand meters deep, and they safely made their way to the bottom.
At the bottom, Wu Mingxu, clutching a glowing stone, strode down a long passage.
The passage was vast, towering twenty to thirty meters high and stretching seventy to eighty meters wide, though the walls were rough and uneven, formed of jagged rock.
Wu Mingxu asked, "Do you know why this passage is so wide?"
Mu Fengxiao frowned and said, "For easier movement, right?"
"Exactly, to allow powerful beasts to pass through!" Wu Mingxu nodded.
This startled Qin Yun, who tightly gripped the hands of the two women, and Mu Fengxiao also stopped in his tracks.
"Are there really many powerful beasts down here?" Mu Fengxiao asked with some concern.
"I don't know if those creatures are still alive after all these years," Wu Mingxu replied, completely unafraid and smiling.
Qin Yun asked, "The massive structure above, and yet the main burial chamber isn't there... What is the purpose of that huge circular building? Is it just a decoy?"
Wu Mingxu shook his head, "That massive structure is actually a grand formation meant to suppress immortal corpses! I suspect that the immortals buried here had bodies that were nearly indestructible, which is why they were sealed away."
Mu Fengxiao said with some fear, "That sounds dangerous! Senior, can you deal with those immortal corpses?"
"I don't know," Wu Mingxu chuckled. "But don't worry, as long as we don't act recklessly or release the immortal corpses, we'll be fine."
As he spoke, the cold, damp passage suddenly echoed with heavy thuds, and the ground trembled slightly. It was the sound of giant beasts charging toward them, and there was more than one.
"Let's retreat to where we came from! The passage up is narrow, and the giant beasts won't be able to follow!" Wu Mingxu's expression changed slightly as he quickly shouted.
Qin Yun and the others quickly retreated to the end, where above them was a passage leading back to the surface, which large beasts couldn't pass through.
Wu Mingxu summoned his Lifebound Sword and took a defensive stance at the front.
In the depths of the wide passage, two large red lights suddenly appeared—the eyes of the giant beasts, separated on either side.
The approaching beast was a massive black crocodile, its body stretching thirty-four meters wide, taking up half the passage.
Upon seeing Wu Mingxu, the beast opened its mouth and roared loudly, releasing a cloud of black mist.
"It's toxic gas!" Wu Mingxu quickly retreated, then threw out a storm talisman, dispersing the poisonous mist.
The power of the talisman was terrifying; the howling gale even pushed the massive crocodile back.
At the same time, Wu Mingxu's Lifebound Sword slashed down, unleashing a purple-gold arc of energy that split the crocodile cleanly from head to tail!
Qin Yun and the others thought Wu Mingxu would face a tough fight, but they didn't expect him to defeat the crocodile with a single strike.
Wu Mingxu rushed into the crocodile's carcass, wildly swinging his sword as he searched for something. Soon, he found a black orb the size of a watermelon.
"This beast's crystal core is so small... I knew it wasn't strong!" Wu Mingxu said, then quickly charged forward, slaying several more approaching crocodiles.
Mu Fengxiao said, "The bones of these beasts should be great for crafting weapons, so let's collect some!"
"Don't come over! Even though these beasts are only at the Martial King realm, their bodies are full of poison!" Wu Mingxu shouted. "Their bones and tendons are useless for crafting—they're too toxic!"
Although he had killed several crocodiles, he frowned and summoned flames to burn them.
"It's hard to burn them. If not burned cleanly, these toxic beasts' bodies will decay, releasing even stronger toxic gas!" Wu Mingxu said in frustration. "Ordinary flames will just create more black poison gas!"
He had to stop, or the passage would fill with toxic gas.
"Senior Wu, how can we burn the bodies of these toxic beasts?" Zi Qingcheng asked.
"Beast oil is the best!" Wu Mingxu said. "But where are we supposed to find beast oil now?"
Qin Yun quickly called out, "I have some! Senior, hurry back!"
After speaking, he pulled out the Mystic King Cannon from his storage.
When Wu Mingxu approached and saw the Mystic King Cannon on Qin Yun's shoulder, he was intrigued.
The storage space inside the Mystic King Cannon held many shells, all crafted from beast oil and spirit Demon Beast crystal cores.
Qin Yun grinned and said, "Let's do this!"
He fired a shot, striking the beast's corpse, which erupted into fierce flames and a powerful shockwave.
The concentrated beast oil surged like a raging tide, engulfing the other crocodile corpses.
Boom! Qin Yun fired another shot, and the flames from the beast oil completely consumed the crocodile's body.
"Kid, not bad! Did you make this yourself?" Wu Mingxu laughed. "Is this a mystical weapon? You can actually craft those?"
"We made it together!" Qin Yun said, glancing at Zi Qingcheng with a playful grin.
Wu Mingxu and Mu Fengxiao were secretly impressed, surprised that someone as young as Qin Yun could craft mystical weapons.
The beast oil fire quickly consumed the toxic crocodiles' bodies, and Wu Mingxu led the way, swiftly advancing toward the main burial chamber.
