Chapter 0558: Bai Xiaolu
byChapter 0558 Bai Xiaolu
The two Netherworld Celestial Lions became even more terrifying, alternating between the Heavenly Lion Roaring Sky Sound and the Heavenly Lion's Dragon-Clawing Strike, eliminating two middle-aged cultivators.
Qin Yun, wielding the Nine Yang Divine Hammer, chased after the other fleeing middle-aged men.
From afar, he hurled the hammer, sending shockwaves crashing like tidal waves, sending them crashing to the ground instantly!
The moment they were struck down, Qin Yun dashed forward and ended them with one decisive hammer strike!
Now, only three middle-aged Spirit Martial realm cultivators remained, entangled by the two Netherworld Celestial Lions and the Bone Dragon puppet, unable to escape.
Qin Yun approached and swiftly dispatched them with a few strikes from the Nine Yang Divine Hammer.
BOOM! BOOM! BOOM!
As explosions reverberated across the sky, the disciples of the Canghuo Immortal Mountain's main gate fell one after another under Qin Yun’s might.
He harvested their Martial Souls and tossed the corpses into the Heavenly Lion Subduing Dragon Cauldron to be incinerated.
To his surprise, Gu Chengfeng possessed dual Martial Souls—a Thunder Martial Soul and a Fire Martial Soul, both Purple Gold-grade.
The others only had Purple Gold Fire Martial Souls.
Gu Chengfeng possessed two storage spirit artifacts—one given by his sect and one personal.
The sect-provided one wasn’t bound by a blood contract, allowing Qin Yun to directly access its contents, which included over two hundred thousand jin (approx. 100 tons) of Celestial Beast bones!
Gu Chengfeng's personal storage bag likely held valuables as well, but Qin Yun couldn’t access it and had no choice but to abandon it regretfully.
Grandma Qilin gaped at the human youth, utterly stunned.
Especially when she sensed the aura of the Sky Lion Mystic Body emanating from Qin Yun, she questioned whether he might be a Sky Lion in disguise.
Qin Yun sent back the Netherworld Celestial Lions and stored away the Bone Dragon puppet. Then, he took out a Rune Talisman and placed it on Grandma Qilin.
"This will help heal your injuries... Quickly, take me to a safe place!" Qin Yun said.
Though he had annihilated Gu Chengfeng's squad, he had also drained much of his energy.
If another equally powerful squad arrived, he would be overwhelmed.
Despite her dislike for humans, Grandma Qilin had to admit that both she and Little Deer were saved by Qin Yun.
Now, she had no choice but to trust him and lead him away from the area.
Even injured, the Celestial Qilin Beast could still flee swiftly.
Carrying Little Deer and guiding Qin Yun, she kept silent as they distanced themselves from the brutal battlefield.
Yet, in her mind, she couldn’t help but recall the two Netherworld Celestial Lions.
...
Just half an hour after Qin Yun and the others left, Liu Chongsheng arrived.
Leading his squad, Liu Chongsheng took in the carnage and sensed the residual energy signatures, his brow furrowed. "I sense the presence of those two black Heavenly Lions... Could Brother Gu have encountered them and tried to warn me?"
"There was a fierce battle here; I wonder how they're doing!" one team member said.
"Let's search around!" Liu Chongsheng became very alert.
After searching for a while, they found no other clues except the mangled remains of a corpse.
"It was shredded by something massive with tremendous force!" A middle-aged man looked at the remains in horror. "Looks like the claw of a giant beast!"
"The Celestial Beasts in this Celestial Beast Wastelands are still plentiful! Our elders claimed these lands were nearly cleared of them, and they weren’t strong either." Liu Chongsheng snorted. "If even Gu Chengfeng's squad got annihilated, how can they be weak?"
The Celestial Beasts here aren’t exactly fearsome—the PurpleGold Qilin was captured.
Ke Mingjiang also caught a massive Skyfire Python.
...
Qin Yun followed Grandma Qilin, running for hours on end until nightfall before slowing down.
Then, he followed the silent old woman into a tunnel, descending deep underground.
Below was an immaculately kept underground room.
Grandma Qilin placed the injured Little Deer on a small bed covered with flowers.
After a pulse of silvery radiance emanated from Little Deer’s body, she gradually transformed into human form.
Qin Yun gaped in astonishment—it was his first time seeing a Celestial Beast turn into a human.
Once the white light faded, a pale-faced girl in white lay on the flower bed.
The girl appeared to be around sixteen or seventeen, teetering between girlhood and womanhood yet still carrying a hint of youthful innocence.
As she lay on the flower bed, her complexion gradually regained its healthy glow.
The girl had a fairy-like loveliness—her jade-like skin and exquisitely sculpted features gave her a serene charm. Her liquid-bright eyes gazed at Qin Yun with a mix of shyness and curiosity.
"I saved your Grandma Qilin. You promised me some mystic herbs—now make good on that promise!" Qin Yun said.
Hearing this, Grandma Qilin frowned. "Xiaolu, is this true?"
The girl nodded and looked at Qin Yun. "I’m Bai Xiaolu. Thank you for saving us, kind stranger. I’ll keep my promise!"
"Grandma, he took great risks to save you and went through hell—you saw it yourself just now!" Bai Xiaolu slowly got off the bed, clinging to Grandma Qilin’s sleeve as she spoke softly.
"Alright, alright!" Grandma Qilin heaved a long-suffering sigh.
Though she disliked humans, she couldn’t help but feel gratitude toward Qin Yun. "Thank you, young man," she said.
"Save your gratitude. I only acted because there was a reward," Qin Yun said with a roguish grin.
"Young master, I’ll take you to collect the mystic herbs now!" Bai Xiaolu swung open a door in the chamber.
Qin Yun followed her into another spacious underground stone room, where clusters of mystic herbs and a fruit tree grew.
"These are all mystic herbs!" Bai Xiaolu tended them with loving care.
"Night Lotus and Moon Spirit Roses—and a good ten of each!" Qin Yun spotted the herbs he wanted at a glance.
"These can aid in forging Bone Spirits," Bai Xiaolu said in a hushed tone.
"I'll take eight of each—can that work?" Qin Yun said, in urgent need of them for alchemy.
Bai Xiaolu nodded, then carefully plucked the spirit herbs and handed them to Qin Yun.
Qin Yun took out a jade box to store them.
There were other spirit herbs as well, and Qin Yun recognized a few useful ones, taking one of each type.
"That's enough—I'm not that greedy!" Qin Yun smiled with satisfaction.
"The Celestial Beast Wilderness is losing immortal energy, and spirit herbs are growing scarce. This place no longer suits us," Grandma Qilin sighed deeply. "But we lack the strength to leave and can only rely on these herbs to grow."
Bai Xiaolu nodded softly and said, "Young Lord, I thought you might take all the spirit herbs here. Thank you for sparing some."
"You want to leave this place? I can show you a path—if you trust me!" Qin Yun suddenly had an idea.
"Will you take us out?" Grandma Qilin frowned. "You seem to have strong enemies. Can this really succeed?"
"Trust me, and it’ll work!" Qin Yun laughed confidently.
"Then, what’s your name? We still don’t know it," Bai Xiaolu asked shyly.
"Qin Yun," he replied with a faint smile.
"Brother Qin, have you entered the Sky Lion Immortal Estate?" Grandma Qilin asked curiously.
"Yes," Qin Yun nodded.
"That was built by the Sky Lion Ancestor. Back then, he slaughtered many wicked Celestial Beasts, restoring peace to this land and allowing us to thrive," Grandma Qilin said sorrowfully. "But ever since he left, everything changed."
"So, are you willing to trust me? I can take you to the Spirit Wasteland and find you a place to stay," Qin Yun said.
"To the Spirit Wasteland?" Grandma Qilin sounded worried. "What’s it like there?"
"It’s fairly peaceful," Qin Yun replied.
Bai Xiaolu said, "We Celestial Beasts usually ascend to immortality and then journey to the Spirit Wasteland via its immortal path, entering the Immortal Wasteland. But it takes a long time! Especially now, with so little immortal energy here, cultivation has become even harder."
"So that’s how it is," Qin Yun said. "Things should improve once you reach the Spirit Wasteland."
Grandma Qilin and Bai Xiaolu placed their trust in Qin Yun.
Bai Xiaolu’s beast spirit was special, capable of opening a unique space where she stored all the spirit herbs.
Qin Yun took out the Fox Immortal Talisman and began searching for disciples of Demonmoon Island.
"Brother Qin, do you know those two beautiful human sisters I met last time? Are they doing fine?" Bai Xiaolu asked with concern.
She had once met Feng Honglan and immediately felt a strong bond with her.
Seeing Bai Xiaolu’s love for flowers earlier, Qin Yun understood—Feng Honglan’s martial soul was the Crimson Orchid martial soul.
"I know her. She’s doing fine! I was planning to have you stay with her," Qin Yun said. "They’re joining a new sect, where many beastfolk and spirits live. It’ll be perfect for you."
This made Grandma Qilin feel hopeful as well.
Soon after, Qin Yun reunited with Yao Min, the portly woman.
Xiao Yuelan and Tian Ruoleng were there too.
After bringing Bai Xiaolu and Grandma Qilin over, Qin Yun gave a quick rundown of events.
This still excited Yao Min, as the qilin was an extremely powerful Celestial Beast. If it joined their Demonmoon Island, it would undoubtedly give them a huge power boost.
Feng Honglan immediately recognized Bai Xiaolu as that Little Deer.
"Xiao Yun, your Captain Ke is injured, and Gu Chengfeng's squad from the Canghuo Immortal Mountain was wiped out..." Xiao Yuelan asked up to this point, already guessing it was Qin Yun's doing.
"Alright, I'm heading back to find my captain. I still have several tens of thousands of catties (about 15,000 pounds) of Celestial Beast bones with him!" Qin Yun chuckled. After bidding farewell to Xiao Yuelan and the others, he hurried off.
He was now heading toward the exit of the Celestial Beast Desolate Region, the safest gathering point.
Ke Mingjiang was there, recovering from his wounds.
The exit was a massive light barrier, and near it stretched a vast grassland.
Many tents were set up here by squads from various sects.
Quite a few injured cultivators were healing in this area.
They hadn’t left immediately, fearing that once they exited, they wouldn’t be able to return, missing their chance to gain merit.
So, they could only heal in this safe zone before continuing their hunt for Celestial Beasts.
When someone spotted Qin Yun arriving, they said in surprise, "Isn’t that bearded man Yun Daren? The one who slapped Liu Chongsheng three times!"
"A hero? Once he steps outside, he won’t even know how he dies!" someone muttered under their breath. "Offending Liu Chongsheng—he's in deep trouble!"
"Liu Chongsheng has come out!" Another person pointed toward a large tent, saying excitedly. "This will be interesting!"
