Chapter 0791 Forbidden Dead City
byChapter 0791 Taboo Dead City
Su Yao was terrifyingly strong. Qin Yun couldn't discern her exact cultivation level, but he knew she could crush even a Martial King with a flick of her hand.
Such power was beyond Qin Yun's ability to contend with.
Thus, to prevent Qin Yun from being turned into a blue stone statue, Zi Qingcheng and Shui Tianzi had no choice but to follow Su Yao for the time being.
Qin Yun wasn’t overly worried about the Twin Enchantresses, as he could tell Su Yao genuinely wanted to take them as disciples.
"What’s wrong with this elder witch? If she wanted to tie me up, why did she have to strip me bare?" The thought of it filled Qin Yun with rage.
"Maybe she thought you were handsome and just wanted to see more!" Ling Yuner teased.
"Yun'er, are you complimenting me?" Qin Yun snapped.
Using the *Soulchasing Talisman*, he tracked Su Yao through the night, though he dared not get too close.
Su Yao could detect him despite his stealth.
"Yun'er, my *Shadow Power* isn’t working against Su Yao. What’s going on?" Qin Yun flew low, weaving agilely through the forest.
"Perhaps that woman has keen spiritual senses! You saw it yourself—even those patrolling guards, including Martial Kings, couldn’t detect you!" Ling Yuner replied.
"Tch, whenever it fails, I always end up in trouble!" Qin Yun sighed in frustration.
Using *Shadow Power* to hide in darkness was his only means of concealment.
But it wasn’t foolproof. If he encountered someone who could see through it, he’d be in danger.
During the pursuit, Qin Yun had to pause.
"No, I need to craft something that ensures absolute concealment!" Leaning against a tree, he closed his eyes and recalled the *StarMoon Sigils* he had mastered.
After a while, he decided to create a talisman using three *moon sigils*, four *star sigils*, and one *Dao Rune*.
Even for a *Mystic Rune Master*, this would be a considerable task.
But Qin Yun possessed multiple *Rune Souls*, so it wasn’t too difficult for him—except for the challenge of engraving the *Dao Rune*, mainly due to his still-low cultivation.
The last time he carved a *Dao Rune*, his cultivation was even weaker, making it far more strenuous.
Now, at the *Late-stage Profound Realm*, forging Dao artifacts was no longer an issue.
"There’s a powerful *Ancient Remnants Clan* in this wasteland. I don’t know what abilities they possess, but we must stay on guard against them!"
Qin Yun took out an untreated talisman paper and began inscribing sigils.
The paper had been given to him by Jian Linglong, a *Mystic Rune Master* who often prepared blank talismans in her free time. Qin Yun had asked her for a few sheets.
Using the *SpiritRhyme Profound Pen* and his *Rune Souls*, he inscribed the patterns with fluid precision.
In just an hour, the talisman—bearing *Star*, *Moon*, and *Dao* sigils—was complete.
"Hmph, child’s play!" Qin Yun felt a flicker of smugness at how easily he had crafted the talisman.
After all, even veteran *Mystic Rune Masters* might not pull this off so fast and flawlessly.
Moreover, Qin Yun's Talisman could be reused multiple times.
"This Mystic-Hiding Talisman should allow me to hide even better! I wonder how effective it really is!" Qin Yun activated it and placed it over his heart, allowing the talisman to merge into his body.
Before long, he sensed that the talisman was drawing in all his scattered auras emanating from his body.
"It should work!" Qin Yun made himself invisible and continued tracking Su Yao.
"Xiao Yun, if you have time, you should make more Talismans! By using the StarMoon Sigil to carve totem patterns, such Talismans would surely be terrifying!" Ling Yuner said with a giggle. "If you can't win a fight, just blow the damn things up—hahaha!"
Qin Yun didn’t have time to make talisman blanks now, but he planned to ask Jian Linglong for more good-quality blanks when he saw her.
Even with the Mystic-Hiding Talisman, Qin Yun was still somewhat worried Su Yao might detect him.
If discovered, he had no idea how Su Yao would deal with him—probably something worse than just stripping him naked.
"That lunatic Su Yao, stripping me in front of Sister Baozi and the Water Imp, making a fool of me like that—I must get her back!" The thought alone made Qin Yun seethe with anger.
"Just strip her back!" Ling Yuner laughed mischievously. "Besides, she’s a real looker with a killer body!"
"I’m not that shameless!" Qin Yun scoffed. If he really stripped Su Yao and she caught him later, she’d probably flay him alive.
Su Yao, leading Zi Qingcheng and Shui Tianzi, hurried onward, unaware they were being followed.
Qin Yun wasn’t fast enough to catch up, but at least he could guess where Su Yao was heading.
At dawn, the now-invisible Qin Yun saw a massive spread of buildings ahead.
"There really are a lot of people here!" Qin Yun observed the buildings, which looked like a full-fledged city.
The structures appeared crude, crudely assembled with rectangular stone bricks.
Amid this sprawl stood an enormous city, its walls towering a hundred meters high.
Flying higher for a better view, Qin Yun noticed a dense black fog choking the inner city, obscuring everything.
The outer city was vast, seemingly capable of housing millions.
"What’s up with that city?" Qin Yun muttered, unsettled.
Though curious, he had to stay focused on tracking Su Yao.
Entering the city, Qin Yun found its inhabitants ordinary and cautiously dropped his invisibility, blending into the crowd.
No one gave him a second glance.
Moving through the throng, Qin Yun used the SoulChasing Talisman to confirm Su Yao’s direction—deep within the city.
"Could she be inside the walled city?" A chill ran down his spine. The towering walls made entry seem impossible.
Along the way, he learned that the inner city was a cursed dead city, sealed long ago with no record of anyone entering—until recently, when signs the seal was cracking emerged.
"Did the Ancient Remnants lure people from the Spirit Wasteland here for this forbidden city?" Qin Yun’s heart raced. If true, going in would be suicide.
KABOOM!
A deafening explosion suddenly echoed through the streets ahead.
A wave of terrified screams erupted, and many people immediately took flight.
"The Dead City's gates are opening!"
"If the Death Riders break out, we’re all dead! Get away from here!"
"Run!"
In an instant, the city outside the walls erupted into chaos as countless people fled like startled birds and beasts, scrambling to get away from the Dead City.
Qin Yun also noticed that the Nine Sun aura was denser near the city walls, with even wisps of immortal qi as well, which explained why so many had gathered there.
Boom! Boom! Boom!
Suddenly, Qin Yun heard thundering footsteps behind him.
Turning his head, he saw a group of riders charging forward on towering golden tiger mounts.
There were several dozen of them, all imposing and valiant, radiating oppressive pressure. Armed with long spears, they rode the golden tigers in a formidable charge, storming toward the Dead City.
The tiger riders kept to the main thoroughfares, avoiding any destruction of buildings.
At that moment, Qin Yun sensed a frosty aura—Su Yao had arrived!
He quickly slipped into an abandoned storefront.
Su Yao, materializing out of nowhere, blocked the path of the tiger riders.
The Tiger Rider Leader, a middle-aged man with a bushy beard, halted, and the rest of the riders followed suit.
The nearly thirty-foot-long golden tigers let out furious roars, shaking the ground and sending the crowd into deeper frenzy.
"Lan Suyao, why are you blocking us?" the Tiger Rider Leader snapped.
"Why are you in such a hurry to charge in?" Lan Suyao's voice was icy, dripping with menace, making it clear she had no goodwill toward the tiger riders.
"Our duty is to stop the Death Riders!" the Tiger Rider Leader declared. "If possible, we'll seal the entrance to prevent anyone from entering or leaving!"
Lan Suyao sneered. "With just your group? You think you can stop the major clans from entering the Dead City?"
The Tiger Rider Leader replied, "I'm keeping them out for their own good! If you go in, you'll unleash the cursed abominations within, plunging the whole Wasteland into ruin!"
"We don’t care! We’ve already cut deals with the major powers of Spirit Wasteland. Once this place is destroyed, we’ll make our move there. With our strength, we’ll dominate!" Lan Suyao retorted.
"Do as you will. We’ll still hold back the Death Riders!" the Tiger Rider Leader said coldly.
Still concealed, Qin Yun stole a glance outside, spotting Zi Qingcheng and Shui Tianzi beside Lan Suyao.
"So the Long Family and people from the Mystic Domain are also after the Forbidden Dead City. I wonder what’s inside?" Qin Yun mused silently.
Lan Suyao, Zi Qingcheng, and Shui Tianzi flew away, while the Tiger Rider Leader remained stern-faced, staring at the blood-red gates without advancing.
Outside the walls, the millions who had once crowded the area had already fled far into the distance, levitating at a safe distance to watch from afar.
"These people are strong! At the first sign of danger, they can evacuate in a flash," Qin Yun thought.
"Brother, why aren’t we moving forward?" a middle-aged man asked the Tiger Rider Leader.
"If we go now, we may die inside," the Tiger Rider Leader replied, accepting their likely doom.
"To hell with death!"
"Big Brother, we're not afraid. Let's charge now!"
"Cut through them!"
"We Tiger Riders live to block the Death Cavalry!"
Boom!
The gates of the forbidden death city suddenly shook again.
A pulse of dark energy erupted—clearly, something inside was ramming against the gates.
