Chapter 0649 Bloodwing Bat
byChapter 0649: The Bloodwing Bat
The group of disciples was surprised to see Jian Ruyan so fiercely protective of Qin Yun.
According to the information they had received, Qin Yun and Jian Ruyan had a strained relationship.
"Jian Ruyan, do you really think the four of you are a match for us?" sneered a disciple from the Medicine Immortal Valley.
"You're all outstanding disciples—powerful and skilled, hailing from prestigious backgrounds with noble statuses," Jian Ruyan shot back with a cold laugh. "But if you truly want to fight us to the death, won’t at least a few of you die in the process?"
"Do you really believe none of you will perish when you challenge us?"
Her words made the disciples' faces fall.
Qin Yun’s strength could not be ignored—everyone knew he had defeated Jian Nanhu bare-handed.
And as for Jian Ruyan before them, she carried two deadly swords. If a fight broke out, Qin Yun and Jian Ruyan could indeed take out several of them.
These disciples were the sort who valued their lives highly.
After hearing Jian Ruyan’s words, they began weighing the risks.
Still, they were dead set on capturing Qin Yun. However, given his power, taking him alive would be extremely difficult.
Qin Yun felt that even if they managed to scare these people off this time, they would continue to hound him relentlessly.
Moreover, he suspected this island was no ordinary place.
After all, the island was open to anyone, and the disciples from the Medicine Immortal Valley and other factions seemed to have arrived much earlier.
The Martial Arts Championship had been decided in advance—they must have laid ambushes here.
"Captain, I want to leave the team!" Qin Yun said.
"No!" Jian Ruyan snapped. "I’m the captain—you follow my orders! Don’t let these guys intimidate you!"
Qin Yun had other reasons for wanting to leave the team.
After some deliberation, the young disciples quickly made haste to draw their weapons.
Their weapons were forged from Mystic-grade materials, or even better ones, though they weren't engraved with spirit patterns.
Even without spirit patterns, high-quality materials could still provide significant advantages in battle.
Qin Yun quietly cursed Granny Ma and the others for not warning them beforehand, robbing them of the chance to prepare properly.
Otherwise, he could have forged some weapons without spirit patterns in advance.
"So, you've decided to fight us, is that it?" Jian Ruyan tightened her grip on her twin swords and growled, "Are you really not afraid of death?"
"Jian Ruyan, you clearly don’t know how valuable Qin Yun's head is!" A brawny youth interjected, eyes gleaming with greed. "Take Qin Yun's life and you'll get a King Artifact!"
"Capture him alive and you'll net a full set of King Artifact armor and an offensive King Artifact!"
Jian Ruyan’s face tightened slightly upon hearing this—she understood exactly what this meant.
"You'd really go to these lengths? Who offered these rewards?" Qin Yun asked coldly.
"Not your business!" the youth sneered. "Just know that half the world wants you dead now—even Emperor Wu-class fighters have joined the hunt! Don’t think only you can put a bounty on someone’s head—others can do the same to you!"
"Just don’t regret it later! I can offer even higher rewards to place bounties on you!" Qin Yun felt threatened and wanted to uncover who was behind such a generous offer.
Jian Ruyan snorted coldly, "If you want a fight, bring it on now. I’m not afraid of you!"
"Jian Ruyan, we’ll give you one last chance. If Qin Yun leaves the team, we won’t bother you anymore!"
The burly youth gripped a heavy sword, pouring strong Dao Force into it, ready to strike at any moment.
Word was that among these teams were fighters as powerful as Jian Nanhu!
If they clashed, Qin Yun and his companions wouldn’t walk away unscathed.
Qin Yun sent her a voice transmission: "Ruyan, I’m just stepping away for now. You can leave trail markers along the way—I’ll find a way to regroup with you later!"
"A direct fight now is suicide! But we won’t let them get away with this either. We still have twenty days on Demon Martial Island."
"In that time, we’ll pick them apart slowly—take them down one by one until they’re too broken to compete in the final Martial Arts Championship!"
Hearing this plan, Jian Ruyan agreed it made sense and quickly replied, "Qin Yun, can you really escape alone?"
"You kidding me? After all the trouble I’ve caused, I’m still alive—not because of luck! If it’s about running, you can’t touch me!" Qin Yun laughed through the transmission.
"Then watch yourself. I’ll mark the trees with crossed swords—you’ll know where to look." Jian Ruyan accepted Qin Yun’s plan.
As soon as she agreed, Qin Yun kicked off with the Ninefold Steps and bolted in one direction.
"Qin Yun, you bastard, don’t run!" A youth shouted in rage when he saw Qin Yun vanish, then gave chase.
Qin Yun kept using Vanishing Shadow Ceasing Breath, darting through the forest without a trace.
The group quickly lost him and couldn’t sense his presence.
Jian Ruyan looked around in surprise. She had thought this footwork technique was only for short bursts, never expecting it could be sustained so effortlessly.
"Fan out and hunt him down—we’ll catch him for sure!"
The group scattered immediately.
Jian Ruyan finally breathed easier.
"Long Qiaofeng, don’t you dare betray us, or I’ll make you die screaming!" Jian Ruyan glared at Long Qiaofeng, her tone full of menace.
"I won’t betray you!"
Long Qiaofeng replied firmly. She had kept her ties to Qin Yun hidden—for now—since she still needed to work her way into the Long family later.
"Hmph, I hope so," Long Qiaofeng huffed, then carved a hidden mark into a nearby tree.
Now only three remained.
Yue Bufeng seemed reliable enough—he rarely spoke, but always stepped up when it counted.
...
Qin Yun hadn't wasted his time training the Ninefold Steps inside the Sun-Moon Spacetime Realm.
With the second step, Vanishing Shadow Ceasing Breath, he easily shook off his pursuers.
"Yun’er, did you see those disciples earlier? Exactly how strong are they?" Qin Yun asked.
Ling Yuner was his spiritual companion, able to tap into the power sealed within the Mingyang Dao Core, including powerful mental energy.
Therefore, she could see things more clearly than Qin Yun.
"There are a few just as strong as Jian Nanhu, if not stronger!" Ling Yuner said. "You made the right call avoiding a direct fight!"
Qin Yun muttered angrily as he sprinted, "Those bastards actually put a bounty on me using a King Artifact! They're dead set on making my life hell!"
Ling Yuner giggled, "Why not put a bounty on them too? Scare them a little!"
"I can't keep pulling Demonmoon Island into my mess!" Qin Yun replied. "Yuelan and the others are all there. If I start offering bounties on those half-immortals, it'll piss them off, and they'll come after Demonmoon Island for sure!"
Both Demonmoon Island and Qiweng Hall could issue bounties.
The Qiweng Hall was backed by immortal sects overseeing its operations, so they'd never help Qin Yun post a bounty.
Demonmoon Island might do it, but that would earn them the wrath of those two immortal sects, and the great clans would hold it against them too.
Any disciple leaving Demonmoon Island would be in danger.
As Qin Yun thought this through, he kept fleeing. He was confident in his speed.
Those disciples had no chance of catching him.
...
Night had fallen, and Demonmoon Island's forest was shrouded in darkness, the thick canopy blocking out starlight and moonbeams.
There used to be many glowing plants in the woods, but they had all been destroyed by demons.
Qin Yun moved through the dark woods as smoothly as a fish through water.
With shadow power, he moved without a sound, undetected.
"If I run into those disciples, they're as good as dead!" Qin Yun thought back angrily on the earlier ambush.
This wasn't the last time something like this would happen!
The Medicine Immortal Valley and Canghuo Immortal Mountain had joined forces, making them a powerhouse in Aoxing Province.
Of course, they wouldn't dare provoke Immortal Armory City now—it had an immortal living there.
Even though Bingxing had pull, she couldn't leave Immortal Armory Palace.
So Qin Yun had to stay extremely careful outside.
Roar!
While wandering through the darkness, Qin Yun suddenly heard a beast's roar. His heart raced with excitement, and he rushed toward the sound.
To qualify for the Martial Arts Championship, he needed a Beast King’s core!
If the source of this roar was a Beast King, obtaining its core would solve his tournament problem.
After half an hour, Qin Yun finally arrived at the location.
He felt disappointed—it wasn't a Beast King, but a group of demons surrounding a wild-eyed man roaring like a beast.
Remaining hidden in the shadows, Qin Yun had no intention of intervening. He just watched from the shadows.
The group of demon cultivators cautiously surrounded the frenzied man.
The frenzied man wielded a bone club, roaring and attacking anyone in sight with tremendous strength. The ferocious demonic energy unleashed by his swings could instantly shatter massive tree trunks.
Qin Yun merely watched the spectacle, having come this far, he wanted to see how those demon cultivators would deal with the crazed one.
"These demon cultivators are truly pitiful!" He thought, shaking his head silently.
Suddenly, an even more powerful demonic presence surged forth!
Startled, Qin Yun turned toward the source and spotted two red dots glowing in the distance.
"Is that the Beast King? What kind of beast is it?" He thought in shock.
All he could see were the Beast King's pair of crimson eyes.
"It's the Beast King—the Bloodwing Bat!" a demon cultivator screamed in terror.
The Beast King swooped down with terrifying speed, its claws seizing the frenzied man. A tube-like appendage emerged from its tail, piercing the frenzied man's throat. In mere moments, the man was sucked dry into a desiccated husk.
The lifeless body of the frenzied man crashed to the ground, snapping apart with a crack!
Even the strong bones of a demon cultivator, after being drained of all energy by the Bloodwing Bat, became frighteningly brittle.
Qin Yun immediately went on high alert—this Beast King was no easy foe.
The dozen or so demon cultivators screamed in abject terror, realizing they were nothing more than helpless prey before the Bloodwing Bat.
