Chapter 0823: Mysterious Soul Entity
byChapter 0823 Mysterious Spirit Entity
Xiao Yuemei took out her enchanted mirror and looked at it, saying, "Brother, you don’t need to be afraid. There’s only a spirit entity inside! Besides, it’s the Long Family’s treasure vault—they wouldn’t put anything dangerous in there!"
Qin Yun thought for a moment and agreed that there shouldn’t be any danger inside. After all, it was a treasure vault left behind by the Long Family ancestors for their descendants. If they'd planted anything dangerous inside, it would only harm their own descendants.
"Alright, let’s go now!" Qin Yun said with a smile.
Holding hands, he and Xiao Yuemei carefully descended the mountain and then used the Earth-Piercing Divine Art to burrow underground.
Previously, he couldn’t use the Earth-Piercing Divine Art consecutively because his cultivation was too low, and the energy he could provide was too weak.
Now, as a Martial Monarch at the peak of the Xuanwu Realm, he had enough energy to sustain the Earth-Piercing Divine Art for a long time.
Qin Yun and Xiao Yuemei stealthily advanced beneath the enormous black chest from underground.
The Demigod and Emperor Wu of the Long Family were flying around above, guarding against any sudden attempts to snatch the chest. They had also contacted their clan, calling for backup.
After arriving beneath the massive black chest, Qin Yun tested it and confirmed that the chest had no protective barriers against Divine Arts.
"Let’s go in!"
Holding Xiao Yuemei’s hand, Qin Yun channeled stronger Earth-Piercing Divine Art energy, lifting them from the ground and passing through the outer shell of the enormous black chest to enter its interior.
Xiao Yuemei took out several large glowing stones and used her psychic energy to suspend them around, illuminating their surroundings.
"The Long Family ancestors left behind so many things!" Xiao Yuemei exclaimed happily upon seeing the countless large and small chests around them. "Let’s open them and take a look!"
Qin Yun whispered, "Yuemei, earlier we heard a dull pounding from inside. There must be something big in here!"
The space was packed with countless chests of various sizes, making it impossible for Qin Yun and Xiao Yuemei to see what lay further ahead.
"It probably wasn’t caused by anything else. Let’s open the chests and see!" Xiao Yuemei opened one chest and found some armor inside.
"Just spiritual artifacts… but the spiritual engravings are ancient!" Qin Yun examined the spiritual engravings on the armor and said, "However, due to the long-term lack of spiritual energy nourishment, the quality of this armor has deteriorated significantly."
With a strong tug, Qin Yun tore the armor apart.
Xiao Yuemei then opened many more chests, all of which contained armor.
She complained, "What a worthless treasure vault! It’s just a heap of scrap!"
Qin Yun chuckled. "Yuemei, didn’t you detect a spirit entity in here earlier? Let’s go check it out!"
In truth, Qin Yun could easily see through the chests using his Spirit Eye—they were all filled with sets of armor.
There were so many chests here that it would take Qin Yun quite some time to inspect all of them.
Xiao Yuemei took out her enchanted mirror, confirmed the direction of the spirit entity, and led Qin Yun toward it.
Along the way, they had to step on many chests.
Qin Yun walked slowly, using his Spirit Eye to peer through the layers of chests beneath them.
"Brother, found anything?" Xiao Yuemei asked.
"The armor in this area is slightly better—at the Monarch-grade spiritual artifact level. Unfortunately, they’re all severely damaged… The Long Family ancestor must have been quite ignorant to store these artifacts in such a sealed environment!" Qin Yun opened a chest, took out a set of armor, and sighed regretfully.
Xiao Yuemei pouted. "That idiot ended up harming his own descendants! I thought there’d be many treasures inside, but it’s all just junk!"
Qin Yun smiled and said, "If the armors here had been properly preserved, they would have been extremely valuable. They could've equipped a far stronger army!"
Yuemei kept guiding Qin Yun toward the location of the soul entity, which was not in the center but closer to the edge.
Earlier, Qin Yun had seen that the crates contained only armors, but after a while, the crates beneath their feet were filled with various weapons—all rusted and broken.
Yuemei picked up a blade from one of the crates and easily snapped it in half.
"The Long clan will likely weep in despair when they open these crates!" Yuemei burst out laughing. "Their ancestors really left them a raw deal!"
Qin Yun shook his head with a smile. "Crates this size only hold weapons and armor. They're not worth our attention. If there are any different crates, though, we should take note."
A short while later, the crates beneath Qin Yun and Yuemei’s feet were replaced by large white square stones, each longer than a man's arm.
These square stones were covered in cracks.
"What kind of stone is this?" Qin Yun touched one with his hand.
"Purple crystal ore—like oversized crystal coins, but the energy inside has all dissipated!" Yuemei looked ahead in surprise. "There are more of these purple crystal stones up ahead, but all of them are drained of energy!"
Qin Yun frowned. "It seems I misjudged the Long family’s ancestor. Though this crate was sealed, it contained many purple crystal stones to provide energy for the artifacts. The crates storing the artifacts were also specially refined to absorb and store spiritual energy."
Yuemei said, "But he still miscalculated—there weren’t enough purple crystal stones stored here!"
Qin Yun shook his head. "This many purple crystal stones should have been enough to sustain the artifacts for a long time... Their total depletion suggests something must have absorbed all the energy prematurely."
"Don't freak me out, brother!"
Yuemei shuddered, quickly hugging Qin Yun tightly before consulting her mirror. The spirit was now mere paces ahead of them.
Qin Yun was implying something inside this crate had absorbed all the energy from the purple crystal stones.
Whatever this is, the ancestors never saw it coming.
"Yuemei, be careful!" Qin Yun gripped the Soul Sacred Blade in one hand and the Nine Sun hammer in the other, while also controlling the Heavenly Lion Subduing Dragon Cauldron to hover nearby.
Yuemei nodded, gripping Qin Yun’s Lion King Cannon, loaded with Emperor Wu's Dao rounds.
On high alert, they advanced carefully.
This area was filled with purple crystal stones that had turned white after losing all their energy, many of them shattered. The crate's crash landing had also scattered more debris.
Qin Yun saw the path ahead littered with broken stones and remained on high alert.
Suddenly, with a rustling crash, something burst out from beneath the pile of white rubble.
In an instant, it melted into the shadows.
Yuemei's light stones could only cast small pools of light.
"What was that?" Yuemei quickly took out her mirror and checked it, whispering, "The soul entity is still in the same spot. That thing had no spirit!"
"No soul? Then what is it?" Qin Yun asked, voice tight, looking at Yuemei.
"I... I don’t know. A construct maybe?" Yuemei thought for a moment before shaking her head. "But if it is, who’s controlling it?"
Qin Yun activated his Spirit Eye as he approached to examine the area beneath the rubble.
When Qin Yun kept staring without speaking, Yuemei whispered curiously, "Brother, what are you seeing? What’s down there?"
"All I can see is something trapped down there, but I'm not sure what it is. But one thing's clear—it's not very big!" Qin Yun said. "I figured it was some kind of animal!"
"What was that thing that shot out earlier?" Xiao Yuemei looked around warily.
"I don't know, but I think whatever's down there can't be that dangerous. Otherwise, we wouldn't have made it this far," Qin Yun replied.
Xiao Yuemei summoned a large metal claw and used her mental energy to control it, lifting the rubble away.
"I see it now!" Xiao Yuemei called out softly. "It's really nothing scary..."
At the moment, Qin Yun and Xiao Yuemei could only see a glowing mass.
Once sure it wasn't dangerous, they cautiously approached.
Looking down into the large pit, they saw something emitting an intense white light.
Suddenly, both Qin Yun and Xiao Yuemei cried out as the light exploded in intensity, searing their eyes and sending waves of blinding pain through their heads.
In that instant, they both saw a white object fly into one of their eyes.
"Ah... Brother, my eye hurts so much!" Xiao Yuemei grabbed her eye in pain.
"I... I feel the same!" Qin Yun fought through the pain, quickly moving to embrace and comfort her.
One of Qin Yun's eyes was also in severe pain, glowing with white light and bleeding from the socket. The torment wasn't just physical—it was a mental assault as well.
Thanks to his Immortal-Demon Physique training, he was accustomed to enduring all kinds of suffering.
Thus, he could bear it now and even help ease Xiao Yuemei's pain.
Xiao Yuemei clung to Qin Yun for dear life, muffling her cries against his chest.
"Xiao Yun, if I'm not mistaken, those should be Sacred Eyes... You and Yuemei each received one!" Ling Yuner exclaimed excitedly. "They're fusing with you now!"
Qin Yun's breath caught at the news.
Hidden here was a pair of Sacred Eyes, which had absorbed all the energy over the years.
"Brother... it's... it's the Sacred Eyes!" Xiao Yuemei seemed to sense it too. Despite the pain, she managed a pained but happy whisper.
"Yuemei, what abilities do these Sacred Eyes have? Are they like Su Yao's?" Qin Yun asked.
Xiao Yuemei shook her head. Clutching Qin Yun and curling into his arms, she gritted her teeth against the pain, too pained to say more.
Like this, Qin Yun and Xiao Yuemei held each other for two days as the pain gradually subsided.
But just then, they heard noises.
They also sensed a surge of spiritual energy flowing in.
"Did the Long family open the box?" Qin Yun quickly picked up Xiao Yuemei and ducked down to the lower level.
