Chapter 0905: Star Fragment
byChapter 0905: Stellar Fragment
After changing his clothes, Qin Yun boarded the carriage.
Yu Shutian also put on a set of soft armor, which gave her a somewhat martial bearing.
Seeing Qin Yun’s beast-leather armor, she asked, "Is this set of equipment really okay? Searching for meteorite fragments outside can be dangerous! There are many fierce beasts out there hunting for meteorite fragments too. Some Star Beasts even descend alongside the falling fragments."
Qin Yun smiled. "Miss Yu, my gear was hastily crafted, so its appearance wasn’t a priority. But rest assured, its defensive capabilities are definitely stronger than that pretty armor of yours!"
Yu Shutian didn’t quite believe him and chuckled. "How is that possible? My armor may not be anything precious, but it’s still a low-grade Dao artifact! Are you saying this beast-hide outfit of yours is truly better?"
The hide Qin Yun used was from a powerful beast king, refined and engraved with runes whenever he had time. It was far beyond the quality of an ordinary low-grade Dao artifact.
"If you don’t believe me, test it yourself!" Qin Yun said smugly.
"Fine!" Yu Shutian took out a sharp dagger, grabbed a corner of the beast hide, and slashed at it with force.
After testing it, she was astonished. The unremarkable-looking hide was incredibly tough. Her dagger was a Mystic artifact, and a sharp one at that, yet it couldn’t even cut through the hide!
Qin Yun grinned. "Convinced now?"
Yu Shutian nodded. "Did your Master craft this for you? He must be a remarkable Runes Master!"
Qin Yun merely smiled without elaborating.
Yu Shutian said, "When we meet my friends later, I’ll tell them you’re a page recommended by a distant relative of mine. You’re also my friend, so they won’t question it too much."
"Oh, and don’t tell them you know stellar runes! Even though they’re my friends, it’s best to keep this a secret. You’re new to the martial world, so it’s better not to let too many people know about your rune knowledge."
Qin Yun asked, "Miss Yu, are your friends unreliable?"
Using her mental energy to guide the two horses pulling the carriage, Yu Shutian whispered, "Sometimes, even your closest family aren’t trustworthy, let alone friends. Besides, they’re bringing their boyfriends along, and I can tell at a glance exactly what sort they are."
Qin Yun chuckled. "Miss Yu, you look so refined and innocent, yet you’re surprisingly worldly!"
Yu Shutian sighed softly. "I was once quite naive, but after experiencing and witnessing so much, I’ve had to learn caution to protect myself."
"But you don’t seem wary of me. Do I really look like such a good person?" Qin Yun couldn’t help but laugh.
"Your cultivation level is low, so there’s nothing to worry about," Yu Shutian replied.
Qin Yun secretly smiled, thinking Yu Shutian was still too young. His seemingly low cultivation was just a deliberate disguise.
At the same time, he was curious about Yu Shutian’s true cultivation level. It was rare for him to encounter someone whose strength was so difficult to discern.
After the carriage left Phantom Spirit Academy, three women suddenly entered.
All three wore form-fitting armor, their hair tied in ponytails, and carried exquisitely crafted swords.
They were remarkably beautiful, instantly leaving a striking impression.
One of them, with an oval face and a mature charm, had phoenix eyes and wore red armor. She wore a slightly cold expression. As soon as she boarded the carriage and saw Qin Yun, she frowned and asked, "Xiao Tian, is this your boyfriend?"
Qin Yun’s face was quite handsome, though his attire was somewhat shabby.
Yu Shutian replied, "No, he’s a page recommended by a relative. He has some rune knowledge and could prove quite useful to me."
She then introduced the three women to Qin Yun.
The mature and charming oval-faced woman was named Ling Xinyun, from the Ling family.
One was named Tong Qinxin, with a petite and delicate face. Though not cold, she was oozing arrogance, especially when looking at Qin Yun, her expression full of disdain.
The last woman to board the carriage was named Ai Yuan, her long hair half-covering her jade-like face, radiating striking beauty. When she saw Qin Yun, her beautiful eyes also carried a trace of contempt.
After all, they were all very young and had seen too many outstanding men, so naturally, they looked down on some lowly page.
In their eyes, capable people would always flaunt their power.
For example, the soft armor they wore and the longswords they carried were all extremely valuable items. That was a manifestation of their strength!
But Qin Yun had no weapons in hand, and his attire was very ordinary—none of it impressed them.
"Xiao Tian, why does this guy seem to have a bit of a sleazy air about him?" Tong Qinxin snorted lightly, shooting Qin Yun a glare because he was looking at her.
Yu Shutian laughed. "My page is much more reliable than your boyfriends!"
Ling Xinyun curled her lips. "Tch, what boyfriends? They're just sugar daddies who pay my way—they wouldn't dare lay a finger on me! My goal is a young Martial King who has cultivated a powerful celestial physique!"
Ai Yuan chuckled softly. "An immortal disciple Martial King? That’s unicorn-level rare! Only major sects have them. Stuck in a backwater place like Phantom Spirit Academy, you’ll never encounter one!"
Yu Shutian had already directed the carriage toward the city gate. She said, "Your boyfriends... no, your spenders—where are they?"
"Outside the city gate! They’ve been waiting there for a while. We’ll see them as soon as we exit!" Ling Xinyun snorted. "Those guys are only after one thing! By the way, Xiao Tian, when you get back, go through that mountain of love letters you have—see if any of them wrote to you!"
"The gatekeeper aunt collected them all. I can’t be bothered to look! I opened a few before, and they were so cringeworthy I never read them again!" Yu Shutian laughed. "If you want to see, go dig through them yourselves!"
Qin Yun sat in his seat, fixed his gaze on the window opposite him, neither looking at the women nor interrupting. He simply sat there quietly.
The three beauties, though distrustful of him, didn’t say much more. It was also because he sat there obediently, like a statue.
Thus, the three beauties gave him a nickname—Wooden Boy!
Soon, the carriage arrived at the city gate.
Qin Yun followed them out of the carriage and saw three handsome youths in polished-to-a-shine armor—the so-called "big spenders" the women had mentioned.
When getting off the carriage, Ling Xinyun and the others sternly warned Qin Yun not to repeat anything about "big spenders."
Of course, Qin Yun wouldn’t say a word—he didn’t even want to speak a single syllable.
The handsome youths, upon seeing Yu Shutian, greeted her very politely. Then, realizing Qin Yun was just her page, they merely swept him with disdainful glances without saying anything.
"Let’s fly there—it’ll be faster!" Ling Xinyun said.
Soon, they were all cutting through the air.
Yu Shutian, worried Qin Yun might not keep up, made a point of flying much slower.
Earlier in the carriage, Qin Yun had already learned about the backgrounds of those "big spenders"—they were all young masters from noble houses in Hundred Tower City, quite well-known.
Of course, their cultivation wasn’t high, barely at the peak of the Profound Martial Realm as mere Martial Lords.
Qin Yun felt that among this group, Yu Shutian likely had the highest cultivation—possibly at the Martial King level!
Yu Shutian said, "It’s not just us heading to that area—others must have gone too!"
A youth in blue armor said, "Then let’s fly faster! Who cares if your servant falls behind—just don't let dead weight drag us down!"
The youth was named Hua Feng, from the Hua family of Hundred Tower City, and his father was the patriarch of the Hua family.
"Xiao Tian, let's fly faster!" Tong Qinxin called out lightly. "Forget about your page boy!"
Qin Yun said, "You were flying so slowly just to accommodate me? My flying speed isn't slow—no need to slow down for me!"
Yu Shutian whispered, "Ah Yun, why didn’t you say so earlier? Can you really keep up with our speed?"
Qin Yun laughed. "I may not excel in other skills, but when it comes to fleeing, I'm quite proficient. Speed's never been my problem!"
Hua Feng burst into laughter. "What a chicken—all you do is run!"
Ai Yuan scoffed lightly. "Little Wood, you’ll never get a girlfriend acting like this! You don’t have one, do you?"
Qin Yun smiled. "No girlfriend—I've got a wife."
Tong Qinxin giggled. "Little Wood, your girlfriend must be blind!"
Qin Yun replied, "No, she's got beautiful eyes."
Yu Shutian suddenly sped up, and the other lovebirds gave chase.
Qin Yun naturally kept pace. If he flew at full speed, not even Emperor Wu could catch him, let alone these youngsters.
Seeing Qin Yun keep up, Yu Shutian was low-key shook, realizing he might actually have some skill.
Qin Yun trailed behind them, keeping a kilometer's distance to avoid their taunts.
Two hours later, they finally arrived at the site where the meteor had fallen.
The area was littered with impact craters, scattered with meteors of various sizes.
Upon arrival, they immediately saw glittering shards across the ground—remnants of the meteors reflecting sunlight.
From the air, the flat wasteland ahead looked like a sea of glitter.
"We're finally here. I hope we can collect something useful!" Yu Shutian suddenly accelerated, zipping ahead and landing on the ground.
The three couples, slightly slower than Yu Shutian, descended and began sifting through the meteor fragments, searching for energy-charged fragments.
Qin Yun also quietly scouting. These fragments were remnants of shattered star fragments, scattered across the area.
With so many fragments, there had to be some good loot.
Suddenly, a large group of hulking figures in black burst from the earth, surrounding Yu Shutian and the others—bandits!
