Chapter 0846: Taoist Arts
byChapter 0846: Way of Magic
Long Chuanwu grew slightly worried upon seeing Qin Yun enter and said, "Don't let that cursed follower escape! He's crucial to us—not just for scouting, but he also holds a large number of Imperial Mother Stones!"
A Half-Immortal holding a golden rope chuckled, "He can't escape! If he went in, it must be to drive back that Long Xieling!"
However, as soon as he tugged the golden rope, his expression changed drastically.
He hastily retracted the rope, only to find it severed!
Everyone was shocked.
"I'll chase him!" Xian Rujing exclaimed after recovering from her astonishment, racing toward the stone chamber.
Qin Yun wasn’t just useful for scouting—his Righteous Qi could drive back the fearsome Long Xieling at critical moments, making him immensely valuable.
But now he’d escaped!
Qin Yun had purposely stepped into the stone chamber to use the Soul Sacred Blade to cut the rope and escape.
He hadn’t dared to do so earlier, fearing he wouldn’t be able to handle any unforeseen dangers.
But after seeing even the mighty Long Xieling being forced back, he took the opportunity to flee, so they couldn’t force him to hand over the Imperial Mother Stones.
Remaining inside the chamber, Qin Yun headed toward the exit on the other side. Just as he was about to leave, he saw Xian Rujing rushing toward him.
"Bastard, don’t even think of running!" Xian Rujing snapped, lunging to seize him.
At that moment, sensing the approaching auras of the Half-Immortals, Qin Yun quickly made himself and Xian Rujing vanish.
Their auras disappeared instantly!
The pursuers, about to enter, suddenly encountered Long Xieling emerging from nowhere.
Terrified, they bolted from the chamber in panic and fled madly.
Long Xieling, failing to detect Qin Yun and Xian Rujing, chased after them instead.
Meanwhile, Qin Yun cautiously led Xian Rujing through the crimson-lit chamber to a staircase leading downward.
"You scoundrel! You could’ve escaped long ago but deliberately dragged us along—you’re nothing but trouble!" Xian Rujing sent a mental curse.
"Hah, if I hadn’t held back a trick, you all would’ve killed me! You promised to protect me, yet they still wanted to attack me! In the end, I could only rely on myself!" Qin Yun shot back angrily.
"I said outright that those stones were yours—didn’t you hear me?" Xian Rujing hissed.
"You were planning to demand a share later, weren’t you? Don’t think I don’t know what you’re scheming!" Qin Yun had no choice but to bring her along now.
"Don’t forget, we’re bound by the Life-Link Talisman! If you abandon me and I die, you’ll die too!" Xian Rujing taunted with a grin.
Qin Yun knew Xian Rujing had slipped that cursed talisman onto him just to tie him down.
"Listen, I won’t give you a single one of those stones!" Qin Yun declared.
"Relax, I won’t take them! Even if I wanted to, I wouldn’t know how to extract the Imperial Source Stones from them!" Xian Rujing’s words sounded genuine.
"Fine, I’ll believe you—this time!" Qin Yun said as he carefully guided her down the stairs.
Xian Rujing knew Qin Yun was dependable—when Long Xieling appeared earlier, the Half-Immortals were nearly paralyzed with fear, yet only Qin Yun dared to confront it.
"Yun guy, if both of us can return safely, I’ll definitely be able to protect you!" Xian Rujing said.
"Let’s talk about it then. Who knows, maybe we’ll both die here?" Qin Yun sneered.
Xian Rujing pinched him and scolded in a low voice, "Don’t be such a jinx! Don’t jinx it!"
Qin Yun curled his lips. "You feisty woman, you’re not stupid, so how could you be fooled so easily by Long Chuanwu? If I hadn’t shown you his true colors, hmph, he would’ve made mincemeat of you!"
Xian Rujing snorted lightly. "It’s easy to be blinded when you’re involved. I admit I misjudged him! Fine, I’ll thank you for stopping me before it was too late!"
The thought of being taken advantage of by someone like Long Chuanwu made her blood run cold.
The staircase was very long, and the two of them descended slowly, floating cautiously without rushing.
"Feisty woman, how much do you know about this Blood Evil Dragon Cave?" Qin Yun asked.
"Not much. I only know it’s a place the Celestial Dragon Clan has always wanted to explore. It’s said to be the treasure vault of the Long family’s ancestor, built by the Celestial Dragon of Dragon King Estate. But something happened later, and it became extremely dangerous!" Xian Rujing replied.
Qin Yun had no idea what awaited them next, but he hoped to find something valuable.
Xian Rujing sent a telepathic message, "You sly devil, you’re too skilled—you’re definitely not just some lackey! What’s your real purpose for sneaking into Dragon King Estate?"
"I snuck in just to score some loot. That’s all!" Qin Yun said.
"Hmph, I knew you went there to steal! You’re a real piece of work!" Xian Rujing scoffed.
"Feisty woman, why did you leave the Immortal Wasteland and come down here for kicks?" Qin Yun was also curious.
"I followed that scoundrel Long Chuanwu down here just for fun, out of sheer boredom!" Xian Rujing snorted. "Who knew I’d get dragged into this mess?"
"Lucky for you, I showed up! Otherwise, Long Chuanwu would’ve ruined you sooner or later. How are you going to thank me? Don’t even think about throwing yourself at me—I’m not interested, and I’d be the one losing out anyway!" Qin Yun laughed.
"If you ever make it to the Immortal Wasteland, I’ll repay you, mark my words!" Xian Rujing smirked coldly.
As they traveled, Qin Yun and Xian Rujing communicated via telepathic chatter, carefully navigating the long staircase.
After a full day, they finally reached the bottom!
Below was a cavern.
Outside the cavern, Qin Yun and Xian Rujing saw a swarm of Long Xieling—over a hundred strong!
The Long Xieling all had their eyes closed, seemingly in deep slumber.
Qin Yun led Xian Rujing cautiously into the lightless cavern.
The cavern was dark and deep, forcing Qin Yun to rely on his mental energy to guide them.
They walked for a long time, winding endlessly through the passages, until they finally reached the end!
At the end, there was a flickering glow.
It was a cave chamber, and in the center lay a smooth altar stone.
On the stone rested a scroll shimmering with a pale golden light.
"What’s that?" Qin Yun yanked Xian Rujing forward.
"It’s a Daoist scripture! So the legends were true!" Xian Rujing gasped in awe after seeing the contents of the paper.
"What kind of cultivation method is it?" Qin Yun indeed saw some incantations but found them difficult to comprehend.
"Not sure, but it must be something extremely important. Even in the Immortal Barrens, such a cultivation method would be incredibly rare!" Xian Rujing said.
"We found it together, but the credit is mostly mine, so I’ll take this paper. Memorize it yourself!" Qin Yun picked up the paper.
Xian Rujing took out a square mirror and used it to reflect the contents of the paper, recording everything on it.
Qin Yun also tucked the paper away and chuckled, "We can head back now. Who knows how many of them will make it out alive?"
Xian Rujing said, "As long as Long Chuanwu dies, nothing else matters!"
Qin Yun and Xian Rujing carefully slipped out of the cavern.
As they were leaving, the Long Xieling outside poured in!
But they didn’t notice Qin Yun and Xian Rujing, since they were invisible.
Qin Yun and Xian Rujing were on edge, as the Long Xieling clearly realized the cultivation method was gone.
On their way back, they picked up the pace.
"What’s the story with this Blood Evil Dragon Cave?" Qin Yun pondered as they walked.
"Xiao Yun, once we get out, let Yuemei or Yao Fang take a look at that method. They might understand it!" Ling Yuner said.
Qin Yun himself couldn’t make sense of it—it was way over my head.
This trip had been a huge haul for him, yielding a Celestial Dragon Token, a large pile of Imperial Mother Stones, and that mysterious cultivation method!
After days of scrambling, Qin Yun finally led Xian Rujing out of the colossal building and into the wilderness, traversing through the mountain forests.
Xian Rujing was buzzing with excitement—this adventure had been insanely thrilling!
Of course, without Qin Yun, she wouldn’t have made it through so smoothly.
...
At the Dragon King Manor, many people were pacing around in front of a mountain cave—the entrance to the underground world.
They had waited for days, and finally, someone emerged—but it was only Xian Rujing!
"Rujing, where’s that worthless lackey?" Long Chuanwu was delighted to see Xian Rujing return unharmed and hurried over to ask.
"He was captured. No idea if he’s alive or dead!" Xian Rujing said coldly.
In truth, Qin Yun had also come out, but he had turned completely transparent and vanished without a trace.
Besides, everyone’s attention was on Xian Rujing, so no one noticed anything else.
This had been Qin Yun and Xian Rujing’s plan—this way, no one would hound him about the Imperial Source Stones, and Long Chuanwu’s group couldn’t do anything to him.
After sneaking away, Qin Yun didn’t leave the Dragon King Manor but instead headed to Long Yucang’s residence.
A Half-Immortal from the Heavenly Dragon Sect lamented, "What a pity! That guy had so many Imperial Mother Stones, and now they’re just gone!"
Long Chuanwu gritted his teeth, "That worthless lackey died too easily—he got away too easy!"
"He's not dead, just captured! You can go rescue him!" said Xian Rujing.
"Sadly, we sent two hundred people, and only eighty returned, with heavy casualties!" sighed one of the elders.
Long Chuanwu wasn’t hurt, which annoyed Xian Rujing a little.
Xian Rujing said, "I'm tired. I need to rest!"
She also knew Qin Yun was still inside Dragon King's Manor, at Long Yucang's residence. Right now, she was itching to get back and study that Daoist method!
As soon as Qin Yun emerged, he handed the Daoist method to Yao Fang, asking for her pointers.
Upon receiving it, Yao Fang simply remarked, "Good stuff," and fell silent, leaving Qin Yun quite anxious.
