Chapter 0531 The Bizarre Dao Spirit
byChapter 0531: The Bizarre Dao Spirit
Qin Yun was all too familiar with this black sun—it was none other than the Nether Sun!
"What's going on?"
Anxiety welled up in him, unsure if this was a good sign.
"Could this be the Dao Spirit forming?" Watching the Nether Sun in the sky continuously absorbing the nine-colored radiance, Qin Yun suddenly felt somewhat reassured.
He had three Martial Souls, yet now only the Nether Sun had appeared.
This meant that the Nether Sun Martial Soul was the strongest, which was why it emerged to form the Dao Spirit.
Qin Yun had no knowledge of Dao Spirits, having never seen one nor heard detailed accounts from others.
He only knew that Dao Spirits were extremely strange beings, directly connected to the soul.
Moreover, Dao Spirits were remarkably fragile. Even the Dao Spirit of a Martial King was said to be just as fragile.
Thus, no one ever let their Dao Spirit manifest openly.
The purpose of a Dao Spirit was to enhance one's Dao Force, allowing one to more fully tap into the power of the Great Dao Life Trace.
As time passed, the speed at which the Nether Sun absorbed the nine-colored radiance gradually slowed.
To Qin Yun's shock, the Nether Sun transformed into a small bead!
Then, cracks began to appear on the surface of this black bead!
"What the hell is this?"
Staring at the cracking bead, Qin Yun was completely stunned.
His fantasy space was a world created by his mind whenever he closed his eyes.
Because Qin Yun felt as if he were soaking in a hot spring, his imagined space reflected this feeling—he was indeed immersed in one.
It was a very strange state.
However, within his consciousness space, neither the nine-colored radiance nor the bead formed from the Nether Sun were things he imagined.
They had actually appeared suddenly in his illusory consciousness space.
The black bead split open, revealing a beautiful little creature inside!
No larger than a palm, she had thick, wavy black hair, semi-transparent black wings, and a delicate, enchanting face with long, slender eyes that had the seductive look of a bewitching fox spirit.
"Was it you who awakened me?" The black-winged fairy-like being fluttered toward Qin Yun.
"You... you're in my fantasy space?" Qin Yun was stunned. "What exactly are you?"
"Fantasy space? It's more accurate to call it an illusory space—the dwelling place of your soul!" The fairy's voice was sweet and melodious, giggling sweetly.
Frowning, Qin Yun said, "Fine, illusory it is... But how did you appear in my illusory space? I'm in the middle of cultivating my Dao Spirit!"
"I am your Dao Spirit, silly!" Though tiny, the fairy acted with the attitude of an adult, crossing her arms and laughing at Qin Yun's bewilderment.
"You are my spirit companion!" Qin Yun was so startled he leapt to his feet.
He had never imagined that a spirit companion could speak, let alone have a mind of her own!
The alluring spirit playfully tucked her long, wavy black hair and chuckled softly, "I am Ling Yuner—Yun'er's fine! Though you're such a dummy, what choice do I have? You're my master after all."
Qin Yun was dumbfounded. He had been cultivating his spirit companion, yet this... creature had appeared in his Illusory Space!
In the past, his Illusory Space had primarily been for relaxation, a place to enter a state of emptiness.
His own various fantasies would sometimes manifest in this Illusory Space.
But now, there was an outsider inside it!
Didn’t that mean all his private thoughts and ideas would be known by this Ling Yuner?
Qin Yun quickly whipped up a black sack in his mind to cover Ling Yuner.
"What are you doing?" Ling Yuner saw the dark object coming at her and shattered the bag with a flick.
"This is my most private space. How dare you appear here?" Qin Yun said irritably.
"I'm literally your creation! Do you think I want to follow an idiot like you?" Ling Yuner snapped. "You should know that most people desperately hope to cultivate a spirit in human form!"
"And here you are, rejecting me!"
The more she spoke, the angrier she became, her charming face turning stern as she pouted in complaint.
"Really?" Qin Yun asked, somewhat surprised.
"Of course it's true! I'm one in a million!"
"Those two women cultivating spirit companions with you—one manifested the moon and the sea, while the other conjured a frozen tundra!"
Ling Yuner said with a displeased expression.
Qin Yun immediately guessed that Tian Ruoleng’s Illusory Space had a frozen tundra, while Yue Wulan had cultivated the moon and sea.
This was all related to their personalities, life experiences, and Martial Souls!
"Then... won't all my usual fantasies be seen by you?" The thought made Qin Yun feel as if there was a rock in his gut.
"What’s the big deal? Even if I see them, I can't tell anyone! I'll be stuck in your Illusory Space forever, unable to leave. Seeing your fantasies at least keeps me entertained!"
Ling Yuner taunted with a tinkling laugh, "You little fool, the fact that you cultivated a drop-dead gorgeous spirit companion like me probably means you often fantasize about beauties!"
"That’s impossible! I’m a very pure person!" Qin Yun scoffed.
"Whether you’re pure or not, I’ll definitely find out through your fantasies!" Ling Yuner teased.
"Alright! What exactly are the benefits of cultivating an oddball spirit like you?" Qin Yun asked.
"There are plenty! You’ll find out later!" Ling Yuner said. "Now, quickly imagine some flowers here—lots and lots of beautiful ones!"
With a single thought, Qin Yun blanketed the landscape with flowers, delighting Ling Yuner as she danced between the blossoms.
I just hope this isn’t more trouble than she's worth...
Qin Yun thought to himself.
"How could I possibly be a useless tagalong?" Ling Yuner scoffed indignantly. "First of all, I am a Nether Solar Spirit—I know countless things!"
"Fine, then tell me, where is Elder Sister Yang?" Qin Yun pressed urgently.
"Well... let me first look into this Elder Sister Yang of yours!" Ling Yuner said, then began rifling through Qin Yun's memories.
Feeling his memories being scrutinized by this little creature, Qin Yun immediately shouted, "Stop that right now!"
Ling Yuner sniffed. "With such skimpy memories, I finished in an instant!"
"Then tell me, where did Elder Sister Yang go?" Qin Yun inwardly cursed a few times, but his silent complaints were also heard by Ling Yuner.
Ling Yuner cackled lightly. "Don’t curse at me! I’m essentially your soul keeper—everything you know, see, do, or think, I can perceive!"
"Alright, didn’t you claim to know many things? Then tell me, where did Elder Sister Yang go?" Qin Yun pressed again.
"She left after seeing a red moon. In her past life, she was the Young Palace Master of the Moon’s Frigid Palace! So she understood the meaning of the Blood Moon all too well!"
Ling Yuner had indeed accessed Qin Yun’s memories and continued, "The appearance of the Blood Moon signifies that the moon is nurturing an Odd Pattern Soul! She went to seize it, even though she doesn’t understand the Way of Odd Patterns. Why do you think she’d do that?"
"For me?" Qin Yun frowned.
"Not bad, you got it!" Ling Yuner cackled.
"I was never stupid!" Qin Yun reached out to pinch her but failed—his body here was merely an illusion.
"Fine, then tell me about your elder sister, who was a Grand Tutor!" Qin Yun added.
"Your elder sister, who was a Grand Tutor, was the daughter of a Demon Enchantress and the Immortal Emperor in her past life. She cultivated the rare Celestial-Demon Body, which was immensely formidable."
"It’s said she could dominate the entire Immortal Wasteland, but the Immortal Emperor later killed her. However, he couldn’t destroy her body, so he sealed her body in the Cloud Dragon Mountains. You already knew this, right?" Ling Yuner said.
"But she’s already reincarnated!" Qin Yun replied. "So her body is still buried in the Immortal Bone Crypt?"
"Yes, her Celestial-Demon Body remains there! Because her awakened soul overpowers her current body, she’s now very weak."
"Also, her soul is special—it can’t withstand sunlight, or she’ll suffer terribly."
Ling Yuner indeed knew many things.
Qin Yun fell into deep thought, never dreamed Xie Qirou had suffered like this.
Still puzzled, he asked, "Why would the Immortal Emperor kill his own daughter?"
Ling Yuner replied, "I’m not entirely sure! I suspect two reasons: first, Xie Qirou’s Celestial-Demon Body was too terrifying, and the Immortal Emperor feared losing control. Second, the Immortal Emperor of the Immortal Wasteland may have feared his daughter would steal his throne, hence the ruthless act."
"My elder sister, who was a Grand Tutor, told me my mother’s soul is in the Immortal Bone Crypt. Is that true?" Qin Yun asked.
"Your elder sister, who was a Grand Tutor, dotes on you—why would she lie? It’s true! After her death, she was cursed, and her soul drifted into the Immortal Bone Crypt." Ling Yuner smoothed her long hair and asked, "Anything else you want to know?"
"Hmm... also, when Aunt Xiao and I went beneath the Sky Roar Emperor’s Tomb, what was up with the empty coffin?" This was another mystery weighing on Qin Yun’s mind.
"The Xiao family is one of the dragon-blooded lineages. They participated in constructing many immortal tombs back then! The empty coffin beneath the Sky Roar Emperor’s Tomb can transport the dead to the Immortal Bone Crypt. Once there, the soul becomes immortal. The Xiao family thinks this’ll let their kin come back someday."
Qin Yun pondered this and found it plausible. Curious, he asked, "How do you know so much?"
Ling Yuner smirked proudly. "Because I’m a Nether Solar Spirit! The Nether Sun has always been in the sky, seen it all go down in the Nine Wastelands. With just a bit of deduction from your memories, I can connect the dots!"
"So you’re just guessing?" Qin Yun snorted.
"Even if it’s guessing, it’s mostly accurate! By the way, your elder sister, who was a Grand Tutor, wants you to sneak into an immortal sect to steal Immortal Origin—the lifeforce of an immortal sect!" Ling Yuner teased. "Don’t worry, with my help, you’ll get twice the bang for half the buck!"
"What’s the Immortal Origin for?" Qin Yun asked eagerly.
"It’s a game-changer! It can make you an immortal and grant you entry to the Immortal Wasteland! Of course, swiping it won’t be a cakewalk. And since you have three Dao Pills, you’ll need three Immortal Origins. You’ve got your work cut out for you!" Ling Yuner sighed.
